    Operation Happy Note

Help Operation Happy Note send the gift of Music to our troops for CHRISTMAS!!

Operation Happy Note is a volunteer effort to send musical instruments to deployed service men and women throughout the world. Steve and Barb Baker from Fergus Falls, MN. and run Fergus Music started Operation Happy Note in March 2005 after their son was deployed to Iraq. They sent him a guitar and one to his friend, too. These soldiers were so pleased to have instruments while deployed that we found a way to get more instruments to our troops hence: Operation Happy Note
With the help of major musical companies, as well as individual donators, we have sent thousands of instruments, including guitars, mandolins, banjos, violins, harmonicas, and accessories. Thousands of requests are still coming in; clearly these soldiers need the joy that music brings them.

Hey, this is cool too. I saw a story on the local news the other night about a group called 15 Below that made jackets to give out to the homeless in Canada. To raise money they are selling a few of the jackets signed by a celebrities on eBay. I checked it out. There's one signed by Kid! Thanks Kid for getting involved in causes and helping to make a difference.

Hello Kid, What a great Christmas present to give to Operation Happy Note to link to their site, give them a shoutout etc. I just heard about this fabulous link from them and while I gave them money a few months ago, I know they need more, and I know I'll be sending more soon. Can you ask your buds to blog about them and maybe get people to send them some cash - even just a few dollars? They sure need it as they have many hundreds of packages to send out this Christmas and not nearly enough to pay for the postage - and just a few blog postings with the right kind of words from guys like Kid Rock could make a HUGE difference! -r PS: you've been so kind to do this blog posting, any chance you and your crew might want to do a benefit for OHN?

Hello Kid, Barb and Steve here fron Operation Happy Note. We want to say a Big Thank you for supporting OHN and our service men and women throught the world. Music is a way for them to relax, relieve stress and take them away from the horrors of living in a war zone if just for a short time. Thank you again Barb and Steve

Wow. Thank you, Kid and crew for your support of Operation Happy Note. It was started by the Bakers sending a guitar to their son in the war zone. His fellow soldiers "wished" they had a guitar and the Bakers have been sending musical instruments to soldiers ever since. I have personally viewed the hundreds of thank you notes and photos the Bakers have received. I have tears in my eyes right now just thinking about them. Music is the univerasl language and has been a blessing to many of our soldiers. The Bakers are not wealthy people unless you count their million-dollar hearts. They have scrimped and saved and gone without to keep this program alive. Steve is a professional and is able to work miracles in restoring the donated instruments so they are in top shape for the guys and gals on the receiving end. The Bakers pay out of their own pockets for materials, packing supplies AND THE POSTAGE IS JUST A KILLER, so they rely on donations which are slow in coming. Why should they have to pay this exhorbitant postage to send the gift of music to US soldiers? I could never figure out why some of the music world celebrities did not embrace this project. Now one of the biggest stars in music has done just that. God bless all of you who choose to help Operation Happy Note. Patty Wicken, Alexandria, MN

Hey! I am in a recording studio right now filming a local TV Show for the Fergus Falls Chamber Of Commerce and our guests "right now" are the creators of Happy Note Steve and Barb Baker. I found out that they have 1600 soldiers on there waiting list. They need help! Hey Kid how about a fund raiser? To ship there current inventory it will take about $20,000. I will post a link to the interview shortly, but you can check out their site at http://www.operationhappynote.com/ Tim Litt littti@gmail.com
