Kid Rock Serves Up Old-Time Rock 'N' Roll At Hard Rock

“Do you still believe you live in the greatest country in the world?” asked Kid Rock.

    “Amen,” responded the crowd.

Kid Rock talks the talk and walks the walk. For nearly two hours Kid Rock poured his heart and soul into his performance at the Seminole Casino’s Hard Rock Live in Hollywood. There were times the sweat dripped down his face as his hat, a trademark of Rock’s, shadowed his eyes while holding back his long hair. Then he would stop and look out over the audience, up to the 200 level and even to those in the back, acknowledging his fans and soaking it all in.

The floor seemed alive, arms stretched out towards the stage feeding Kid Rock energy like a thousand electrical cords. The stage was set up like a “T” so Rock was able to come out on the floor with fans all around him. The floor was open which meant no seats and general admission. Just like the old days.

The stage set was a take on a saloon from the Wild, Wild West, complete with enormous Longhorn antlers under the drums, the eyes lighting up red and smoke puffing out the sides. There was also the black bear with his Mardi Gras beads (it was Fat Tuesday after all), and Jim Beam written across the front of the bar matching Kid Rock’s vest. If that wasn’t enough the flashes of fire that came up through the floor of the stage kept you awake.

Not that anyone at the sold-out show at the Hard Rock Live needed to be awakened. Everyone, and I mean everyone, was on their feet for most of the show. It was a beer-drinking, pot-smoking rock fest. Although Kid Rock is not just rock and roll.

Kid Rock flitters across many music genres. His lyrics say it the best: “Punk Rock to the hip-hop/I’ll take you higher than a treetop/You’ll roll with Kid Rock/forever with Kid Rock.

Rock has five Grammy Awards nominations and his 1998 record Devil Without a Cause sold 11 million albums. He played “Cowboy” from that album and “All Summer Long” and his version of Lynyrd Skynyrd’s “Sweet Home Alabama” had the crowd singing along.

In a video during the show Rock dissed LeBron James about wanting a championship ring claiming: “It’s all about where you come from. I will never forget where I came from.”

I was there all the way from Fenton, MI. My only regret was not being able to see the screens & the whole stage. However, just being there was INCREDIBLE, I loved every minute of it. I thought my tickets were for the dinner and to meet Kid Rock & Jamey Johnson. Oh well, it was a misunderstanding still a GREAT show. TM

hey kid i'm still reeling from the north little rock show....drove through the blizzard from tulsa with my younger brother, 10 year old nephew, 15 year old son and myself..the road trip was a bonding experience we will all never forget..we all agreed it was worth every second of it for the show you gave us that night. my nephew kept saying "aunt lynn this is the best night of my life"...it was so cute. for him and my son it was their FIRST rock concert and it was YOU.....we were on the floor row 8 stage right...we love you. deciding whether to buy memphis tickets now but it will be hard to be sitting so far away from the stage after little rock...anyway THANK YOU for how you give to us, your fans. Lynn, Chase 15, Drake 10, and Chris in Tulsa

Hey I seen andy dick on the Joy Behor show last night and he claimed that pic of him and the drugs was from Jan (he thinks). He's looney. Poor Guy. Bein a celebrity would be a hard life but I guess that's the life they chose. Its got its ups for sure and the downs as well.
