Kid Rock likes his Jim Beam, that’s for sure.

Vintage Jim Beam barrels dotted the stage and bottles graced the shiny trailers of his semi-trucks Saturday night as Kid Rock poured himself a glass from behind the full bar on the set of his Allegan County Fairgrounds concert.

He also gulped his whiskey straight from the bottle on a stage adorned with huge shotguns and monstrous steer horns.

More than 12,000 fans, packed shoulder-to-shoulder at the Allegan County Fairgrounds, shrieked their approval and he voiced his appreciation right back.

“I know the economy is tough everywhere and I appreciate everyone who spent their money to come here tonight,” he said. The evening’s slight drizzle stopped just in time for the black-clad Kid Rock with his hair flying, to blast on the stage with “God Bless Saturday” and “Born Free,” from his eighth studio album (“Born Free”) released last November.

Kid Rock rocked the Allegan County fair. My only complaint was that I did not get to meet him, get a picture with him or an autograph. (I was hoping to.). When I went to Detroit Bike week in 2010, I got to meet Jackyl and get my picture taken with them. Anyways, I loved the performance, the lighting and Kid Rocks energy. Great performer, sounds just as good live as he does on his CD's. Loved it. :)

To say it plainly, when "props" come as an "afterthought" (somewhere beneath Money, Beer, Stadium issues... etc.) ... IF AT ALL! ... THAT IS DISRESPECT.

D~ Were you at the show? BADASS beer WAS the only beer being sold. As a matter of fact, with the exception of Mikes Hard Cranberry lemonade, it was the only alcoholic beverage. And you had to wait in line for a very long time to purchase tickets to get the beer. Many people bought more than 2 tickets to A) not have to wait in line again and B) to facilitate the process. The way it was set up was so unorganized. Many fans(and we were happy fans, the show itself ROCKED!!) were dissatisfied because we were charged money for a product that was not delivered.EXAMPLE: How would you feel if you went to McDonalds~ ordered your food, paid for it and when got to the next window they said "Sorry, we stopped making food." and you had to drive away without your order. Could you just let it roll off your back and drive away. I doubt it. That was exactly what happened. We bought tickets for beer and within minutes, they wouldn't honor them. It could have just as well been for merchandise, food, etc.. No difference. Many of us HAVE contacted Allegan County to resolve this issue and they said they will not be refunding any money and they had no further comments. We Have also Contacted the brewing Co.. Someone needs to step up to the Plate and take responsibility. AND if you read the all of the posts, no one made any negative remarks about the show itself.. EVERYONE WAS ECSTATIC WITH THE PERFORMANCE OF KID ROCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Continued on next comment thread

But come on~ don't sell something and not deliver it. BAD FOR BUSINESS!! And to post our thoughts on the forum of the actual article talking about the show At Allegan county Fair, I'm TRULY sorry if it has offended you. I don't see what difference it makes where people would like to state their misfortunes. I'm guessing it's because this is where they hope to get their voice heard! I've been to dozens of KID'S shows and spent thousands of dollars and worth every cent, but I believe if we are able to say how much fun we have at his shows, we are also allowed to voice our opinions if something isn't right. No matter what the forum. . I think that KID would be OK with us voic ing our concerns about the issues at hand, but I dont think that its fair that we are being disrespected by others for doing so. Everyone has the right to speak under the 1st Amendment, including you. I believe there is a time and a place for it and this was it. ONCE AGAIN.....KID ROCK ....AS USUAL, PUT ON A SPECTACULAR SHOW!!!!!! But the "CIRCUS" (and I don't mean the fair) around it.....Shameful and just plain BAD BUSINESS and NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED! Thanks Kid Rock and the Twisted Brown Trucker Band for another STELLAR performance!!!! Cant Wait til We "ROCK" again!!!!

Hey Marine... who did you talk to? Can I get their info? 6tixx...that really is too bad. I can't BELIEVE that it happened, and that noone is stepping forward to resolve this issue. Badass seems content to get away with a couple of grand and a whole SH*TLOAD of bad will toward them.

the ENtire beer situation was a JOKE !!!!!! You had to go thought THREE (yes that's #3) lines to get beer --- wtf ??? line 1 ) show ID and get braclet, 2) buy drink tix at $5 each (would've been nice if line #1 people told you this entire process) Line 3) buy actual beer which was quite a cluster &uck seating was a disaster waiting to happen, chairs were grade school size... several chicks were standing on chairs: it was great looking at their fat ass all nite !?!?!?! no security, just a bunch of senior citizen volunteers..... on the eve of 9/11 it was not cool KID ROCK was da SHizzzz.. almost as good as his sat. comerica show .. it was my 6th show in michigan this year (8th overall in 2011) .... my black red wing #1 "KID ROCK" jersey will be down in orlando for that one wit the Bobber !!!!

I attended Saturday Kid Rock Concert. I have 6 unused drink tickets for a total of $30.00. I was told this morning that no refunds would be issued. That is a total scam. Kid Rock would not be happy to hear that his fans were getting ripped off.

Maybe that was my problem during karaoke on the boat...or BOB just made me Nervoius I so wanted to blow his hat off with my vocal talents...MEOW.

actually the best songs ever sang was with someone under the influence--Steve Tyler stated that once in a interview makes the emotions and thoughts come to the surface where either you or someone can jot them down ~

Now this is why at Shinedown concert in August 2010 I told to put the chair back to an unsuspecting fan and to put chair up back in place so no-one would get hurt. Fairs, track seating and folding chairs are a disaster waiting to happen if people are not behaving themselves especially if kids/children are around they can get hurt! Too bad so many people forget to be safe :(

Hey Rockstar, just stopped in to say hello. I will have something to show You very soon. Hope You are well. I stay sober,I do not want to miss any part of life. I hope You know that Jesus loves You. You remember the song. Jesus loves Me this I know for the bible tells me so. Cool song. Aren't you working on a new CD. Better stay sober for that one. You will get it done much faster. Way to wrap up the tour!!! Had a blast again! This was my 3rd show in MIchigan this year!!! Awesome!! Never gets old!!! I sooo can not wait for the new album and many, many, many more shows to come!! Keep on Rockin!!

Yeah- I coulda drawn a better seating layout on a cocktail napkin in 10 minutes that would had this show and 15,000+ people happy and fully contented... there would have been less rent-a-chairs and more port-a-potties... to pay big $$$ and then have to watch the show on a half-ass quality out of focus video moniter... sad. It did no justice to the actual STELLAR performance the band performed, and then to shut-down beer sales directly after the show starts... and refuse to pay-back of hard-earned dollars... I thought the carnival sharks and pick-pockets were out in the 'ring toss' aisles...

The Kid put on a great show but the seating and crowd control was the worst, the venue put the rows of seats way to tight and did nothing to keep the aisles clear their lucky nobody got hurt. It was a big cluster f_ck and they should be ashamed.

One of the best nights ever. . . I was a few rows back from center stage . . . DIRECTLY in front of Kid ALL night long and I felt like it was a private show just for ME. . . . I love his way of connecting with each and every one at his shows. . . Beautiful night

Once about a time...not too long ago....There were 2 lines down on the track. One for beer and one for tickets. (Tix were for the beer.) We opted to buy xtra tickets so we would not have to wait in line (which seemed go for an infinity) again. We enjoyed 2 BADASS beers before the show. A few Minutes after KID came out, we went to get 2 more. The woman in line front of me asked for two beers and the beer employee said "We stopped serving beer." We laughed thinking he was joking because he was holding 2 beers, so the woman again said, "Ha ha, 2 beers please." Again the employee said, "Sorry, we stopped serving the crowd." Confused we said, "Your holding 2 beers." He simply said, "These are my beers." Then proceeded to tell us we could go up to the box office for a refund. Hoping to avoid another seemingly endless line, I reluctantly left the show (in which I was enjoying very much!) to go up to the box office for a refund. Once there, I was informed that there would be NO refunds! Needless to say the feeling of anger that I had doesn't even compare to what I was really feeling. Knowing it was no fault of the employee at the box office, I brush off the anger and when back to my seat to enjoy the rest of what was probably one of the best KID performances that I've been to! No special quest, just him and his Band of Twisted greatness! Thank you Kid Rock!!! Love all around for you guys (and gals!) ~~Continued on nextcomment thread~~

However, I do work in corporate America, and if I took my clients money without delivering the product, I highly doubt my doors would remain open for business. I've been to the Woodshop in Clarkston where they have some of the most amazing BBQ you will ever have (look for them on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives with Kid Himself and Guy Fieri) where they sell BADASS beer and every time I give the bartender a twenty spot for a couple of beers, she always came back with my them........... Why is this different? dunno.....I know that it is probably not the fault of Michigan Brewing Co. or BADASS beer itself, but of the venues doing.... I could be wrong. But what I am right about, is that the employees representing the Beer Co. and whose cups seem to be magically full all night (seen it with my own 2 sober eyes) drank that delicious beer on our dollar. ~~ Continued on next comment thread~~

I don't need to have a beer to have a good time, but it sure is a lot more fun!! And I understand completely why they may have wanted to stop serving beer at the event. There were families and children having fun at the county fair that was adjacent to the concert. Kudos to Allegan County for wanting to keep it safe! Allegan employees did a wonderful job keeping things somewhat under control during the show. I don't think that any one of them knew what they were in for with a big name like Kid Rock, this isn't just your regular run of the mill rock concert. And chairs on the track, really? The whole track should have been GA. (SRO) In Kid's last paragraph above he states , “I know the economy is tough everywhere and I appreciate everyone who spent their money to come here tonight,” .... Well KID.... it was worth every penny and the xx $30 for the beer we didn't get to drink and I know, if you knew what was happening down on the track with the whole "tickets for no beer deal", you would have had no part of it. As far as the disappointed BADASS beer fans.... It could have all been avoided with a few simple signs saying that the beer was going to stop being served at 9PM. Just sayin'..... But if there one thing I do know, it's that.... "there's always something good that comes out of everything! God Bless!!! Peace~ Love~.. and keep it rockin' brother! Thanks for a great 2011 tour!!! @ Jackie, that is the exact same thing that happened to me, except security told me to go stand in general admission :(
jackie casey's picture

it was my first concert to see Kid Rock and we would of had really good seats except when we got to them the people in front and the people in back of our seats had folded up our seats to make more room for them. There wasnt even enough room to stand where our seats should of been so after we found a security lady and she checked it out and said there wasnt anything that she could do we ended up standing back by the wall by the grandstand seating. They had the chairs way to close to each other and it really makes me mad that you pay that kind of money and then you can only watch the show on the screens.
Michigan Girl-1971's picture

I was soooooo excited to have you play at Allegan because I live so close to it and I loved the concert as usual....except the seating really sucked. They were just too close together. I came back from getting my beer and our chairs were gone and we had other people standing in front of us on there frickin chairs...and even if I did have my chair, there were people behind me that were shorter and that's just plain rude. I was in 16th row, but it felt more like general admission...ughhh. I am just bummed because that was the last show you are playing for a while. I absolutely loved the way you played Purple Sky...i LOVE that song anyways! Looking forward to my next Kid Rock concert.....even if they have shitty seating...lol ;)
