    Kid Rock Is 'Born Free'

Kid Rock clearly isn't into all the fawning that goes on with celebrity.

Striding into the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts a few months ago, he bypassed the handlers who were set to cater to the performers at the Point of Light Celebration that honored former President George H.W. Bush. Instead, Rock posed for a few photos, briefly chatted with fans, and was on his way. That type of down-home attitude is one that translates to his music and has resonated with rock fans in his hometown of Detroit, country fans in Nashville, Tenn., (where Kid Rock owns a condo) and to music fans seemingly everywhere else.

"People in north Michigan are not different at all from people in southern Alabama," Kid Rock told Time Out Chicago. "Trust me, someone who's spent a lot of time in both places. They're all hardworking, simple people."

The same could be said for Kid Rock, who has worked hard to remain true to his middle class roots. Not only has he walked the red carpet with his dad, but he's shed what he calls "dramatic" aspects of his life (think marriage to Pamela Anderson) that other musicians might embrace. The title of his latest album and current tour with Sheryl Crow, "Born Free," is perhaps a more accurate glimpse into the attitude of Rock, whose birth name is Bob Richie.

Yeah, no more thinking of doing a greatest hits album just yet. Good choice Ricky Bobby, I mean Bobby Richie. Taladega humor, hee hee. Glad to here that there will be no jumping of sharks allowed here if ya know what I mean. Not that I wouldn't love a greatest hits album but I think you have more in you than that. Can't wait for the next to add to my collection of all of your CDs . Could I request that 40's song , which I don't even know the name of, to be on the album. It reminds me of one of those songs you sing with all your friends, or people you don't even know. Kinda like an anthem song like Garth Brooks low places . When the song comes on it's one of those songs that everyone starts singing. Another example is all my ex's live in Texas or the devil went down to Georgia- can't remember if that's the name of song or just part of lyrics. Anyway you get the jist

Yo Bobby, :) I was reading about your homes somewhere including the condo where Jr. goes to college. If you need a place to stay near Indy let me know. I've seen you perform live 3x this year, (NEVER ENOUGH...Dayton, Cinci and DETROIT ROCK CITY), so I will not be there Friday night as I am really short on funds finally. Those VIP tix are hard on a social workers wallet but ooohhhh sooo worth it. XOXOXOXOXXO I'll be puttin some money back while you are working on your next recordings to get my next fix. Peace

lol makes me think of so many I've encountered, Rock Star at Argosy Casino that was upset about their crab legs, cab driver, large girl?lol at Nickelback/Shinedown concert, older lady?lol buying overalls, man buying bird seed, bald guy dancing in the Hamptons, eccentric man at night club in Vegas and the list just goes on for the celebrity types verses the simple man-Glad to know Kid Rock/Robert Ritchie is just a good old boy at heart with a sense of humor-haha And no drama-lol-is there such a thing? I wish!!! My favorite albums/cd's though have to be Live Trucker, Rock n Roll Jesus and Born Free-especially like the song on Born Free that reminds me of Bon Scott style of singing-For the first time in along time-beautiful song. However LOVE Lonely Road of Faith off Cocky album-must admit alot of great songs to choose from song catalog-looking forward to next album/cd! :)

Make it happen, make it happen! Cocky is my favorite and it would be like going back to his real roots musically......All in one. Next summer?! Is he going to spoil us? And ruin us for Van Halens comback tour?....It's about time, I used to get sick of wondering when the hell he was comming back....It would seem like the 12th of never. 4 yrs. here 2 or 3 yrs. there, life is too short. I know with Joe C. dying it delayed things but look what came out of it COCKY...(.thank you little Joey C). But now he shouldn't have too much to worry about other than exchaustion. Keep eating those collard greens Kid and some spinach Popeye and you'll kick ass like a donkey! Hey, I think Kid's right when he said that he's gonna buy this planet by the time he's through! Keep it comming love, keep it comming love, don't stop it no, don't stop no, no, don't stop it now don't stop! Now when he says clap your hands like a seal I think he was definately on to something....He's too much! I love it!

I only wish I had the finances to see him perform. And maybe a vehicle so I could get there. and money to buy a t-shirt. Oh Well...I got my cd's. And being straight outta the trailer park, I gotta say...I Love Me My Kid Rock!

Bob staying real is why you will always be the best and why we all love you like we do. Being a superstar hasnt changed you in any way, you still remain true to your roots, and the real deal. As a die hard fan I feel honored to say I am a KID ROCK fan 4 life. Honored to wear my tattoo on my back for all to see. I wore it with pride for the Aug 12 show, being my birthday and all, I had a hundred or so fans come up and ask if they could take a pic of my tat. then ask me what id do if I ever stopped liking KID ROCK, my reply being, if you are a true KID ROCK fan you wouldnt have asked that. Bob you have been my inspiration, you as a person and your music have inspired me to fight back, and keep goin when things get tough. You are #1 and will always be with me. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for being such an amazing entertainer and such an awesome person. I am finally goin to be on the boat for Chilin3. See you in April, Take care my friend.

That's why he continues to be a true American country favorite! He's not fazed by those adoring him, he's interested in providing a great performance every time he gets on stage. And it's true that "people in north Michigan are not different at all from people in southern Alabama". Actually, I believe that most down home Americans believe in one thing...work hard, play hard...it's that simple. We all have a great love for this country and supporting our troops. Thanks for this article :) Look forward to seeing him at the Allegan County Fair next month!
