I am a musician. I did not attend college and barley made it out of high school. I try my hardest to keep my ticket prices low, THIS I HAVE CONTROL OF.!! I can not control nor do i understand how the fuck the scalpers and all the secondary websites and bullshit get them. IF I COULD CONFRONT EACH AND EVERY ONE OF THEM FACE TO FACE I WOULD AND IT WOULD NOT WORK OUT TO WELL FOR THEM I GAURANTEE ALL OF YOU. I hate them, i feel like someone is beating up a close friend or family member while im chained to a chair. I try to understand it, i try to ask my managers and people in the buisness i know to help me understand it, but it seems they dont either. The only way i know right now to stop it is to not buy from these people or wait till the last minute when there scared they cant sell em and have to sell them cheap. I am not gonna apologize for something i cant control and it you wanna hate or blame me for it, go for it. But if your really pissed about it, research it and try to find out why its going on and let me know. alot of us are trying to figure out a better way, trust me, the last thing i want is some bottom of the barrel lazy fuck who wont get a real job ripping off my fans to get rich. And no, this post was not consulted w my mangers or publicist, they would probly say not to post it, but thats not how i do things. This is right from my computer to yours. I hope it helps to understand at least how i feel about people trying to get tickets in my fan club or any other way that turns out to be a let down, THAT IS NOT MY INTENTION OR WHY I GOT INTO MUSIC AT ALL. Maybe i should shut down the fan club, because i dont want anyone to think im screwing them and i cant keep the "bottom feeders" from joining it, YET! I try to think of better ways to do things all the time, especially for the fans, but my main focus is always my son and then writing good songs, without those two things, nothing is happening. I will keep my mind spinning trying to figure out a better way to get good tickets to my true fans, and it brings to mind a new song on the new cd "the least that i can do is care" unfortunatley thats not gonna be enuff in this case. trust me im on top of this and doing what i can. thx

Unfortunately I wasnt able to get tickets to your Detroit show, sold out in like 20 minutes :( I looked around online for your tickets but jeeeeeeezus they might as well be asking for a kidney or my first born for the cost they are asking... I lived in TN in 2002 and camped out all night for your tickets and I did get them..but, had a death in my immediate family the day before the concert and had to leave town and I missed your concert. I moved back to Detroit and my daughter got us tickets for your concert last year and we got into a car accident on the way to the concert so once again, I missed you. I WILL see you one day, if its the last thing I do LOL. Thank you for caring

We all appreciate your honesty and words straight from the heart. We know you would never "screw" your fans over and scalping is just one of those things that happens in any entertainment business. Don't cancel the website or fan club. Some of us true fans really enjoy seeing the good you do for others. WSU thanks you for the scholarship progam- I went there too for grad school. Anyways, we all support you and forget the few bad ones out there. Focusing on the positives in your life and music is what is about. You're a good egg as my grandma used to say. Christine----here in Grand Blanc Michigan.......

Well said Kev!!!!!!

I am a member of the fan club as well, and am in the same boat that MHW was in. Had the site up all day and while waiting for the page to load (which took FOREVER) they all sold out. I was like "Huh? WTF just happened" But fortunately we were able to get tix to the show the next day! Not the best seats...but who gives a shit, I'm sitting inside and will be rocking my ass off! Period. Keep the faith and rock on....can't wait!

see you on the cruise bro!

Kid, thank you for the post!!! It is always the bad apples that ruin the bunch; but don't chop down the tree! We love ya and understand that you are not in control of the sleeze that you have to deal with. Keep up the great work.

You can only control so much, but it's good to know you care! I'm a huge fan of Kid Rock, but a bigger fan of Bob Ritchie. I have an MBA and the last 2 letters don't stand for "Bad Ass" even though I am one in every sense of the term! I finished that degree with a 3.87. I have tech experience and was a ticketing manager at a major entertainment venue. Pull my info from the log-in and look me up since shit like this is my "Rubic's Cube!" Love the new Cisco site!

Kid you have to figure a way to get your true fans in there! I got up 7am just so i knew i would be awake enough to buy tickets for the concert of the year. There are posts all over Craigslist showing these low life websites that are selling tickets for double the price!! What should happen is those tickets get voided and you pick a location where you buy tickets in person! Only your true fans will wait in the freezing cold and wait for your tickets! that is what should be done! Hopefully something happens!!!

I want to see you at Ford Field because I appreciate all you do for the metro-Detroit area and Michigan and how you stay TRUE to us and I love your music! It makes me happy to put in my Kid Rock CD's in the car and listen to your music ...it takes my mind off my own problems... My friends and I pay whatever price we have to pay to come and see you because you are our hometown hero and we love the music you make... But it does get outrageous at times but I know it is not your fault...I get that....I hope to go to your concert at Ford Field in January if I can get the money together! We got tickets to your last show at DTE this Summer and we went Sunday night you gave such a great time!
salliejom's picture

Thanks LMK, I will most likely go to that concert instead of Detroit, although I would love to see him @ Ford Field for his 40th!!
pamela0313's picture

I thought you did a great job explaining yourself.....even though me and many others never doubted your loyalty to your friends....this is a fucked up world-thats your answer!! NE Ways just wont you to know that we love you and your music!! Hope to see you in greenville sc......it would be my first time!! Take care and stay true!!

Thanks a lot man. I'm a huge fan and have been trying to overcome your speedy sellouts for a while now. All i can say is that that 6 tickets for 99 means a lot to me and my buddies who are all huge fans and wouldn't otherwise be able to afford to get to your shows or let alone have everyone together. I just had to make sure i was clicking refresh constantly for the five minutes before they went on sale. I know that when i saw you at Comerica i wasn't going to be able to get tickets and then a scalper that i was trying to get to lower his price cancelled his ticket like a month before the concert so i was able to get 2 from the box office for 45, hell of a lot cheaper than the 105 he wanted. Everything you do means a lot to all of us, all of the home town shows, the cheap cds relative to their worth musically, the cheap tickets (if you can get them in time), it means a lot to everyone. Thank you and fuck the scalpers

I have friends that are ticket brokers. One rule that that the brokers aren't to keen on is "Will Call Only". This way, you have to pick your tickets up at Will Call with your ID before the show. It cuts down on giving the brokers enough time to purchase tickets from Ticketmaster and resell them for a profit.

Hey Bob. There is always going to be some scum living off of everyone else's backs. It seems like work ethic is something that is a dying thing. I have been a fan of yours for a long time and I have to say I appreciate you being real, I love your attitude and personality. I personally believe that your true fans understand that you do the best you can. For example when I looked to see how much the tickets for the show in Columbus Ohio were. Then I picked up some over time at work to pay for them. I really wanna see you again in concert, it was one of the BEST shows I have ever been too. I understand that in this day and age shows cost more than they used to and that's okay. Big Hugs Sweetie. We got your back :-D By the way Born Free is an amazing album. Keep making music from your heart, being true to who you are and the true fans will always be here.

This situation is going to happen for any product that the public wants. KR is VERY popular, especially in his hometown. EVERYONE wants a chance to spend a birthday with him. If you only have 60,000 tickets to sell and 100,000 people want to see him, then obviously you are going to have 40,000 unhappy fans. That's life. I was at Walmart on Friday morning in line with 200 other people hoping to get a $200 laptop. They only had 50. Guess what? 150 people left the store bitching and moaning about Walmart not having enough laptops. Boo-hoo. I was one of those 150. You people need to man up and get off of Bob's ass about this ticket situation. He had nothing to do with it. You can't please all of the people all of the time. Lord knows he tries........
That Guy's picture

Hot Damn, This is close to as entertaining as one of my posts. I think Next year, for the your 41st Birthday, we should rent the BIG HOUSE. We can have a panal of 5 people stand outside the venue the morning of, and only people who can prove they are the biggest fans will be allowed to come in. Instead of charging 35 bucks for a ticket, we will charge people 35 dollars to audition as a fan, if they are not good enough fans, they cannot come in, if they are good enough fans, they may enter. Once they Enter, they have to perform again, this time in front of the TBT band, the band will dictate as to who gets closest seats, and who sits at the top. Ok Really, What I have realized in life is simple, things are not always fair. It's not fair that scalpers get better tickets, its not fair that kids in the suburbs get a better education then kids in the city. It's not fair that hard working people lose their jobs, while fat pocketed execs keep theirs. Life is not fair, people deal with it, overcome. One thing worse then life being unfair, is people blaming others for these so called unfair circumstances. Where there is a Will, there is a way. Find it... Bob, Don't sweat it man, you have always been more then fair to your fans, hell, some of your fans are probably broke, out of work, and struggling, so they bopught 4 or 5 extra tix and are gonna make enough money to buy their kids a Christmas gift. It's the way of the world. You focus on making the music, putting on the shows, and keeping the prices rightous, the fans will find a way.

SallieJom - he is coming to Chicago 2/26 at the United Center.

Same deal, paid a fortune for tickets. Worth it but kind of annoying that it's going to the wrong hands.
jmount2006's picture

there are 2 suggestions i have. 1) sell the tickets yourself on your website only and 2) put one to 2 tickets in each album good to any show in the country that way if someone buys the album they can come to the show without having to worry about scalpers or big companies over charging to go to a concert
spohr1's picture

100 percent agree!!!! This is not your worry, I am sure your managment team is on it! BTW I did get our 4 tixs from your fan site and YES we are true fans been to 13 concerts and was on a boat! and will be again next year! they (tixs) are getting to the fans, but as you get more popular, so does the scum that prey! Thanks for entertaining us, don't sweat this crap, its not worth it and us TRUE fans know where your heart lies! Your in KRC, Paul

Thanks for your message. I'm coming home to the D to go to the show and wanted the VIP tickets because it's my 40th birthday too, and as a grad student, it's quite a splurge for me. The same thing as MHW says, I clicked the VIP tix and by the time the next window loaded, they were sold out. I just figured maybe the club didn't have that many and I got them the next day in the Live Nation presale. Disappointed, yeah, because I wanted to be closer for our birthdays, but I'll still be there.

It's nice to know that u sincerely do care about your fans and what is going on. I 100% whole heartedly agree that people need to figure out a way to change the situation with what is going on and stop pointing fingers and making harsh accusations. I know I don't know u personally but you seem, to me, to be an honest to God...look ya dead in the eye when your talking to someone type of guy. And since you are a country boy, I know you know what that means and how important that is to us country folk ;-) I know that if you had the chance to say what was in your post to each of your fans face to face you would have done it looking each one of us straight in the eye. U are a good man, a fact that is not lost on your true fans. Love ya Kid and hope u don't decide to shut down the fan club.

No worries...I live in WI and I am a very big fan. I want to come to MI for the concert, I would very much love to....but now the assholes that your speaking of are controlling the prices, I don't think I can afford it :( Come to WI soon!! Or even Chicago!!! I do not blame you one bit, but thank you for posting your true thoughts, this is why you are the best artist, ever :)

Thanks Kid. Much appreciated.

It's great that you have this blog & actually personally post to your fans about what's going on & how it affects you & or your fans. I must admit I am a new Kid fan. It started when I heard All Summer Long & has continued on with your Born Free CD. (Sorry I didn't care for the earlier Kid music) Oh but I did like Picture & Lean on Me at the Help Haiti telethon. Anyway, you seem like a great guy & a caring guy & I'm sure your fans all know this. Try not to let this get you down You can only do so much. Who knows maybe someday ALL the musicians that share your same feelings will "come together" & figure out how to control their ticket sales. I think it can be done. It's worth a try...like they say- 2 heads are better than 1. Maybe you will be the guy to get everyone together (hint, hint) :)

Clearly somebody out there is up to some real shady shit. Some of those bottom feeders see where they can make the dollar off a real fan and will poke and scrape and claw to get all they can. Something is real f-ed up. But I appreciate you keepin it real. Thanks for lettin us know you're out there. Those of us who did what they could through the pre-sale and what not and came away with tickets are beside ourselves with excitement for this bash. F- the haters. F- the scalpers. Thanks for speaking to us from the heart. Just one more reason you're the shit. For real...

your true fans....will understand!! & thanks for being honest!! YOU ROCK....and we love you xoxo

It is so awesome to see how much you care about your fans. I do not think shutting down your site wouldn't help. I was hoping to get tickets so I could bring a friend but they are now out of my price range and I will not buy them from scalpers, so with that said I hope you understand why I can't be there to hear you at your birthday bash and for that I am really sorry but I still support you in the work that you do for your fans...... have a great birthday!!!!!!!!!!!!! love the Born Free song

Well stated Bob!! It is unfortunate that you feel like you have to apologize for the scum bags who rip off your fans. I have been to two of your shows and i van tell you I LOVED both of your shows. I however can't always afford to attend your show, because beleive you me I would be at everyone. And when I can afford to go, I can't seem to manage to get tickets because they sell out so dan fast. I still hope one day I will be at one of your shows when Bob Seger makes an appearence. I apreciate the fact that this apology come right from you and that you didn't go through your manager, it shows your integrity, loyalty to your fans and that you stay true to your roots! You are a well respected man in my book. I wasn't able to get tickets to celebrate with you for your 40th birthday...so Happy Early 40th Birthday, Kid.....High reguards.

It was far easier when you just passed out tickets in your basement in Royal Oak :)
