I think the Kid's main point is just as he said, "I'd rather be ripped-off by my fans, than companies like iTunes. iTunes is just an example, however iTunes is a 6.1 BILLION dollar company for doing nothing but sitting on their asses. Send the Kid 0.99 cents, and I'll send you the MP3 file, which is yours to play on ANY player. Not just iPods or the like.

to mike v and eyerrhyme: no one is forcing you to do anything. just take a little drive to your nearest target store and you can buy the fucking album, and if you take his steal everything literally, you are way out there. that was a revolutionary statement, by the way, but this generation and several before it are too gd lazy to change anything in this country. you might have to give up your ipod or your cellphone that is sutured to your ear. all i can say is God help us and thank him for giving us kid rock, he seems to be pretty much alone out there, as far as bands go. kid is the fucking bomb digity!

What a load of baloney Kid Rock! iTunes is the problem and the enemy? Umm... why than do indie artists I know who are on CDBaby get $0.64/song? Some are making a good living too! Sounds like you get a bad record contract Kid. How could you not know about CDBaby... not that you care... but come on! Oh and what computer system were you using to do your albums? Probably Apple. Your website? YouTube Video? Yeah let's blame Apple for all the problems. How about the fucking record industry who is trying to live this glamorous lifestyle they have had for decades fucking over the artist AND the consumer? Over saturating the airwaves with crap? They're dinosaurs and they're soon going to be done! And let's steal everything? Yeah... great advice. Let's contribute to the over-populated prison system and have kids go to jail because they listened to a schmuck like you. How about I steal all of your riches? Do you really need everything? You say you're rich so what's the problem? By the way... you and Kroeger at the Red Wings game... how suitable two arrogant ass-holes who got more radio play than anyone can stomach sitting together.

I get the point he's trying to make... but if he's going to refuse to make his music available online, I'm going to refuse to buy a CD with his music. And if I were to buy a CD, I would only end up putting it in my computer and doing the same damn thing I would've done downloading it to begin with... that's listening to it on my portable music player. It's horribly short-sighted in this day and age to totally shun an online means of making your content available to the masses. If people want to rip you off, they're going to rip you off. Not putting your music on iTunes because you think it makes it easier for people to share your music is only hurting the millions of us out here that don't participate in file sharing, and have no interest in it, and only want to be able to enjoy the music we love. In fact, the files people make from ripping the CD, rather than downloading it from iTunes, have ZERO protection on them against file sharing. At least iTunes has that going for it.
