Below is an interview with Kid Rock talking to CMT Insider's Katie Cook about accepting the job as host of the 2010 CMT Music Awards.

KC: When you announced on your website that you'd be hosting the CMT Music Awards, do you remember exactly what you said?

KR : Yeah. I think I was kind of being a smart guy and said, "Don't worry. I will be awesome!"

KC: What was the public's reaction?

KR: The people that like me go, "Cool." And the people that hate me, just hate me more. Perfect.

KC: What do you think makes an awesome host?

KR: Good writers, number one, make a great host. I think just being yourself. I don't think they hired me for this gig to put on a tuxedo and enunciate my words perfectly.

KC: Are you going to be unpredictable?

KR: I'll speak my mind. Yeah.

KC: Are you going to get rowdy?

KR: Well, it's a party. They say it's a party. I get to host a party, and I've had a lot of experience hosting those. I think I have been training for this my whole life. I'm looking forward to it. It should be fun.

KC: Do you think you'll maybe make the suits sweat a little?

KR: It's kind of been my thing forever. I've never been disrespectful in front of the camera, but still the censors and the standards department sit there with their finger on the button like they're playing Family Feud.

KC: You've never hosted an awards show before.

KR: No, I've never hosted anything but a bonfire or a party or something. That's about it.

KC: What about the teleprompter? Do you think it'll be easy?

KR: Umm, I did not excel in reading. I am not a strong reader, but I think if we keep to the basics of the English language and if you don't throw any big words at me, I might be able to muscle through it.

KC: Are you feeling nervous about the gig?

KR: I don't really know what to feel. Sometimes you get butterflies before you do live TV and different scenarios here and there, but I've never done anything like this. I mean, I don't really know what could go wrong. Ha! Famous last words! ... I don't really know what can go wrong. I'll be tripping off or doing a somersault off the staircase.

KC: Do have anything up your sleeve?

KR: Not really. I am just going to kind of be myself -- play it by ear, speak my mind, have fun, just try to give people a good time. The acts are going to be great. I think the awards show really relies on the music as the foundation of it -- with the great songs and the great performances. I'm really looking forward to that. So if I can fill the gaps in between there and crack a joke here and there, be myself and have fun, I think it'll make for a fun night.

KC: Sounds like you'll have a good time as long as the music is good.

KR: Oh, yeah. I didn't get into this whole fiasco to have a bad time.

KC: I'm assuming you've seen the nominations. Is there any particular artist you're looking forward to hanging out with?

KR: I don't want to play favorites right now. I am going to keep this one politically correct. For one time in my life, I am politically correct.

    KC: C'mon ... .

KR: I don't know, it's always fun. ... The CMT Awards are fun. They're loose. I get to see all my buddies in Nashville and around the country and just hang out and rub shoulders. Just have a good time and catch up, talk about music and family and life. All those great things are always fun.
