Just wanted to wish everyone a Happy Holiday and get something off my chest (as you all probably know I’m not a big blogger! But I do read my website and myspace page when I have time, and thank you for all the kind words and shout outs!).
I headed to Europe last Friday for a small tour and then am most likely going back to the Middle East to entertain our troops for the holidays (again!) I’d be lying if I didn’t mention it’s kind of bittersweet due to the fact that I petitioned the judge (Alvin T. Wong, Dekalb County, Georgia) in my “Waffle House” case so that the 80 hours of community service he sentenced me to would be served by my holiday trip to entertain our troops (for my 3rd Christmas and 4th time!). Apparently he thinks it’s more important that I do something else rather than sing, shake hands, take pictures and spend time with the men and women who put themselves in harms way to protect the very freedoms he and all of us live by. I really take it as a slap in the face, and really have trouble thinking of a better way to “serve the community,” especially at Christmas time when it’s obviously the hardest time for soldiers to be away from their families and home (and I try not to think about it when I’m there, but it’s a little freaky being in the middle of a war zone!). It’s not that I don’t take responsibility for my actions, because I do, and I have, in more ways than one. The case got so much press (a lot of it very silly press) that I decided before I even went to court that I would have a fundraiser at a local Georgia Waffle House and donate the money to a local Dekalb County homeless shelter that helps families get back on their feet (we raised close to 20 thousand dollars for that shelter).
I figured I would use the opportunity to turn a negative into a positive (The judge didn’t seem to care to much about that either, but whatever, that wasn’t about anything other than using the media BACK to do some good!). I’m sure a lot of you will comment on this and in a weird way it will make me feel a little better, but either way this judge will leave a bad taste of ignorance in my mouth, but I don’t let even the DEVIL get me down so, WHATEVA!! Well, that’s my rant, I hope I’m doing the right thing by sharing my feelings (I’m usually better at it on a song!!). So in ending I would just like to wish all of you, my friends, a happy holiday season. Thank you for all your support, I truly appreciate each and every one of you! God Bless!
Your Friend,
Kid Rock
(p.s., below is the order denying my petition to the court, if anyone’s interested, and to be fair)

Happy Holidays to you and yours and the band.
I believe that you going to visit our troops is a huge service to the community…
our troops should be one of our #1 concerns as a Nation and I believe in what you do.
What I can’t believe is that the Judge would not see that the same way.
Maybe if everyone who reads your posts set and sign some sort of petition, it may help?
I would be willing to do anything it takes for you.
Have a great Christmas… see you here in Vegas for New Years! Take care!
December 1st, 2008 at 10:29 pm
I really admire what you’ve chosen to do for our troops these past few years. It’s funny to think of the American Bad Ass as “setting the example” for others to follow. That having been said, I don’t think that your trip should be used to settle your community service. Don’t get me wrong, the fundraiser that you did for the homeless shelter…now that’s an example of community service. I just think it would be a cop-out to take something that you clearly love to do (and that you were already planning to do) and say, “hey, community service problem solved”. As my Dad always said, “don’t do the crime if you can’t do the time”.
My advise: suck it up, refocus on “why” you’re going to the Middle East and everything else will fall in to place. Happy holidays to you and yours and TBT band.

U just got a standing ovation here.
December 1st, 2008 at 10:46 pm
Well, I’ve been trying to give you a shout-out here for about an hour, but I’ve been strugglin’ with how to log in to this thing. LOL. I can personally say just by that, you should now how strongly I feel about this issue. I’ve been a fan of yours for YEARS. Last year I saw a tribute to the troops, where you were there singing for them and giving out autographs. It actually made me cry to see how much happiness you gave them, lighting up their holidays. If a judge doesn’t find that to be community service, he’s just a douche-bag. Perhaps it would be better to pick up trash off a road that just gets littered on again in ten minutes, than to touch someone’s life. Crap. It’s just Crap! My prayers are with ya Kid. I love ya.
December 1st, 2008 at 11:12 pm
I was watching Joyce Meyer yesterday, and she was talking about how it’s possible to decide in advance how we’re going to respond to an issue. Throughout our lives, we will find ourselves in situations where we are being unfairly treated, but regardless of how we got there or where we are going next, we have to go through it or we’ll never get out of it. And since we’re going to go through it anyway, we can decide to have peace about it now! Amen! Love God, love one another (even the man) and enjoy your time on this beautiful planet…even if you’re wearing orange…;)
Love, Win

Well, Bob,
We all know that a lot of times individuals don’t see things on our level and have to prove a point. That is exactly what seems to be happening to you in this situation. Its sucks, but just buck up and get it over with.
We know all the good you do and that many have reaped the benefits and rewards.
This Judge is just trying to make an example of you. Don’t play that game.
Have a great holiday. Give the troops lots of smiles, stories and laughter.
We appreciate you for you as do so many others. Take pride in that and move on from the negative.
Lots of love and appreciation,
Cheryl & Kevin

Hi. I believe that life is full of lessons and we don’t move onto the next lesson until we learn what we need from this current lesson. Oh believe you me, I think it’s awesome what you are doing for the troops this coming holiday season. Say you could do your 80 hours by entertaining the troops … aside from giving the troops a rockin’ time, what will that service teach you? Step outside of yourself, accept what’s been handed to you, and take this as an opportunity to help you grow. I know it’s not the greatest of feelings at times when you’re right in the moment, but every minute, every hour, every day is new. Peace and light to you. Love your music! Happy Holidays to you and your’s.
December 2nd, 2008 at 12:57 am
I’m a doctor, I help children under the age of 10. I got a dui for drinking to much wine. The Judge would not let me doctor little children for my service. I had to pick up trash for 6 hours a day for 5 weekends. Why should you get to do what you do to make a living to pay back for being a dumb ass ?
Just my thoughts. Good Luck.
December 2nd, 2008 at 1:06 am
I applaud all that you do for the men and women who will not be spending time with their family this Christmas. They are defending this great country of ours so that we are able to celebrate the holidays with our family. You should be able to visit our troops. I’m sure a few hours of some down time for them would mean so much. I disagree with the decision this judge has made. A fight a waffle house, big deal, I would have probably done the same. Maybe I need some anger mangement. You have done so much for alot of people. Probably more than you realize. Including myself. The judge should look at the good things you have done for alot of people. Keep doing what you do and I thank you for the music and the message you are sending. You made a comment about not holding hate in your heart. That has stuck with me. Merry Christmas to you and your family. Be safe and God Bless!
December 2nd, 2008 at 2:03 am
Hey, Just to let you know you are loved in Iowa! I think you more than made up your community service hours by going to the Waffle House and serving food, meeting and greeting fans .. and the huge donation to a great cause. I’m sure every single soldier you have met and givin your time to treasures that so much, to know that you care enough to show it. If that judge can’t see what a great thing that is, shame on him. He just wants to make an example out of you. Not sure what you can do about it, but rise to the occasion and show them dumb ass mo fo’s you are up to doing what is needed to get this behind you. What else is there? And to the peeps that said you shouldn’t be able to do what you love and get paid for it are wrong. I don’t know for sure how it all works .. but i would bet the time you are there is donated and not paid to you. You are a stand up guy with a big heart, that loves his country. That is not hard to see! Much Love and Respect, Suzanne Hinton, IA
December 2nd, 2008 at 2:21 am
First of all I thank you for supporting our Troops like you do. Risking your life to go over to the middle east to entertain the troops should be community service enough. It shouldn’t matter if it’s something you enjoy to do, it’s all in your heart and soul. This Judge Wong is just wrong. Didn’t you have to pay a fine and plus have to take anger management? Which of course I don’t think anger management has ever done anyone good, but that should be enough for punishment having to go to those dumb ass anger classes. And from what I could tell, you were just defending, the case should have been dropped. If there was a petition I surely would sign it.
GOD BLESS you Kid Rock. And thanks again for supporting and entertaining our Troops. I know you put smiles on their faces, and you give them hope as well. To bad this Judge can’t understand or see that….he’s a dumb ass.
December 2nd, 2008 at 2:50 am
Hi Bob, God bless our troops and their families, especially this time of year, it can’t be easy for them to be apart. God bless you for going over and being such a huge supporter of our armed forces, we need more people like you.. You are a true patriot, not only do I admire your talent and success but also your heart and how you care about others. It’s not just your music that keeps your fans true to you.. It’s the person that you are. You do what a lot of us would love to do but can’t because we don’t have the means. You are kind of an ambassador for the rest of us.
You could be sitting on your ass doing nothing(like a lot of people), but you don’t.
Seems to me that Judge Wong is trying to make an example out of you, for whatever stupid, ignorant reason. Whatever.
All of your fans, friends, family and especially our troops, know how much you care and support our country and the ones who fight to protect us. I guess “it is what it is”. Maybe your petition will be overturned, maybe not.. Either way, BE PROUD OF YOURSELF. WE ARE PROUD OF YOU. God bless to you and yours, have a safe trip, be safe, be healthy and be HAPPY.
Much love.
December 2nd, 2008 at 8:32 am
The use of the word ‘punitive’ says it all. It seems to me that this specific judge wants your community service to be a miserable experience and apparently you’re just going to have too much of a good time in Iraq. Clearly this judgement is about making a statement instead of recognizing and doing the right thing. It’s about punishing you instead of turning a negative situation into a positive result. All you can do is just shake your head and move on. You’re a blessing, Kid Rock; some people just don’t get it. Thanks for all you do.

Hey Bob!! First, thank you so much for doing so much for our troops. Our hearts and prayers go with you as you travel to a land that most of us cannot even imagine. It takes a BIG heart to go to places like that. I have family serving in Iraq and I know they appreciate you coming to see them when they can’t be with their families.
The judge is just trying to make an example out of you. He is probably hoping a big deal will be made of it, ya know, 15 minutes of fame. But that’s ok. Just be the man you are, take it for what it is, do what ya gotta do, and move on. Next year, we won’t remember who he is, but you, we will ALWAYS hold in our hearts.
Please be careful and come home safe. We love ya, support ya, and are proud of you.
Thank you for ALL you do.

As for the judge, I’ll send him a few words and let him know how I feel.I aleady had a problem with him anyway. My childrens deadbeat dad who owes over 80k in child support was before that same judge and he just let him go! So he was already on my shit list ya know?As for him trying “to making a statement”, well with the email I’m about to send him onthis matter, if he has any brain at all he will feel like it’s a pea size one!I can’t stand the way a lot of people treat you but this asswhole has went overboard with me!And you can ask Shelly(So Hott 1), I WILL do whatI say.You have touched my soul in so many way’s and so many times over the years I could never thank you enough.I hope you and you family have a very Happy Holiday, and you do be careful over there and just do what you do because it’s the best! I think you are doing the right thing posting the blog if that is whats on your mind. Feed back is good. If you have to do the time im sure you can find someting that will work for you. Dont let this bother you. 80 hours is only two weeks. Go there get a sweet room and hook it up. At least you didnt get busted with drugs or somethig worse. If your like me just think of all the stuff ya gotta way with. This year was a great year for you, I would just say feed off that. I dont know what direction you wont to take in 2009 i have some suggestions if your interested. I hope they let you carry a gun in Iraq. It must be fun its like your in the army. You are a great artist. Keep up the good work. What is it like having so many fans? It must be really cool to be Kid Rock>>>>>>>>g

That’s too bad…..I wish you and the TBTB a safe trip. I am looking forward to seeing you again in February. You are the best! Safe, happy and healthy holidays to you and yours!
December 2nd, 2008 at 11:33 am
Hey Bob!!
I definately do not agree with the Judge’s denial in regards to your petition. My opinions of our judicial system as a whole are those of great disgust (usually) and this is a perfect example of that in itself! I think he wanted to get his name in the press as the one who made, “Kid Rock” pay for his “actions”. Wong was WRONG and should have allowed your time to entertain our military be enough to satisfy the 80 hours PERIOD. Regardless of the fact that you’ve gone over b4..yada, yada. God bless you for taking the time to entertain our troops who serve this country in this day and age of much turmoil. I am proud to be a fan of yours and thank you from the bottom of my heart for your effort to go over to a dangerous area and give UR time to help take their mind off of the awful conditions they have to encounter on a daily basis, even if for a short time. They derserve our support and as an American I am very proud of each and every one of our troops!!
Happy Holidays to you and your family!! I appreciate you sharing your thoughts with us and giving us the opportunity to respond to you. Buzz was all over the community yesterday that you blogged!!!!! Love to see more of it when possible, hint hint!
I am known as, Detro!tRocker, on the KID ROCK community..born and raised in the city where so much talent has come out of, and very proud of that! Btw, thanks for doin’ Detroit proud with your video, Roll On!!! Big Kudos!
Be safe and God Bless you!
December 2nd, 2008 at 11:34 am
While I think it sucks, I do understand the logic behind not allowing you to use your holiday middle east “tour” (for lack of a better word) as your community service. I think that there are numerous “in”famous people before you that have continously taken advantage of things like that and that is what ruined the opportunity for you. Further, to be quite honest nobody on the planet really gives a flying rats’ ass that you got pissed off in a Waffle House. The only thing that made it media worthy is that it was you and not some angry truck driver. Given the judge’s obnoxious attitude in wording his Order, I would suspect that he thinks your time would be better served darning socks for the military opposed to entertaing them and taking their minds off their situation, if only for a little while. Whenever ours paths have crossed, you have always been a rather refreshing, normal person. People get pissed. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve wanted to reach through a drive-thru window and stomp a mudhole in someone’s ass. It’s just human nature. Stupid is stupid regardless of whether you’re in a Waffle House or Ruth Chris’. Anyway, take care and enjoy your holidays. Nashville misses you. (Including the Waffle Houses). —– Your neighbor on the West End of Nashville.

Bob it shows just the kind of person you are to blog on this subject when it would have been so easy for you to keep this quite. You have a really big heart and you have done so much good work with our troops. Don’t let this incident stop you from looking out for them.
Some of the of these comments IMO have been somewhat harsh I find it very hard to understand why people can’t see how you feel right now. It seems to me what my granny told is true people only remember the bad that you do. This judge and some of the others with the harsh words have forgotten:
When you donated all the money from your concert in Norfolk, Va my home state to the victims and their families of the USS Cole Attack. My friend Sean hasn’t back in Sept. when I told him I was going to your show first thing he said was “Kid Rock is cool he always looks out for us troops.”
I don’t know what the big deal was you weren’t doing anything more than anybody else would have done and trust Sugar on this there are people doing things that would make your head fall off, roll across the floor, back up, and roll back on to you getting nothing more than a slap on the wrist.
Just put this thought in your mind there are countless people you help in ways you just don’t know or understand I am one of them. Through your music I have found solace, through the friends I have meet by being a fan I have found support that I never thought could exist, some helluva good times with many more to come, and by you being you I have found a strength in me that I didn’t know I had because my outlook on things has totally gone in a better direction.
Happy Holidays To You and TBT and your families
p.s.
Please be careful over there sounds silly but I worry about while you are in the Middle East.
Love Sugar

The jealousy that surrounds you is positively insane. Just keep on keepin’ on like you’ve done for years. Eventually, “they” all get the proverbial “What goes around comes around” slap in the face. You know who who loves ya babe.
Thanks for all you do,
Angela
PS
Somebody spelled the Judge’s name Wong…er Wrong…he’s Wrong? What? I’m confused…
Silly…couldn’t resist.

Always focus on the positive- negativity is crap. Kudos to you for the fundraiser that you and your band did for the Dekalb County homeless shelter. (I work in Western NY with homeless MICA individuals and know the desperate needs). You have demonstrated much more empathy, compassion and responsibility through your actions than much more of the general population does in a lifetime. I want to personally thank you for going to the Middle East for the holidays….I have a young nephew in Iraq, and my son may be joining soon as well. As a single mom and parent who has raised her son alone since he was 11 months old- I am appreciative of your contributions and sincere gestures to our troops. As far as singing, shaking hands and taking pictures? Sing louder, shake as many hands that come your way and take all the more pictures!! (I am not a real picture taker, memories are in my head) But whatever our men and women can tangibly hold onto and be comforted with- so be it! Sounds to me like the DEVIL is an ignorant judge in Georgia, didn’t the devil go down to Georgia looking for a soul to steal? Maybe he found one. My motto: Shit happens and crap occurs- let it roll off of you and move on with your head held high. You are doing a wonderful thing this, and the 3 past, holidays. Happy Holidays!!
December 2nd, 2008 at 1:59 pm
That is wrong in my opinon also! They say the truth shall set you free, but who’s truth is this, the judge’s as it appears. Do you have to do your community service hours in GA then? I’d have a solution for you if you needed to do community service in MI.
Enjoy the roller coster, roll on! Love ya, Danni T from the D.
December 2nd, 2008 at 2:58 pm
Hey Kid,
Just a few thoughts on the judge’s refusal to let you serve 80 hours of community service in Iraq, entertaining the troops. Up here in “The Great White North” community service is almost always PART of a sentence, not the entire thing. I have always believed that the community service part of a sentence (usually paired with fines and probation) was given as a way of making restitutiion to the community, which supposedly was “harmed” by the original crime. The punishment part of the sentence (fines/probation) were to teach the “anti-crime” lesson.
Personally, I think it’s most likely sour grapes on the judge’s part. He just really doesn’t want you to actually enjoy what you do for the community service. Hopefully others will learn from your well set example: this could apply to any community service sentence, so if you are sentecnced to community service in a soup kitchen, for example, but you love to cook, make damn sure the sentencing judge doesn’t find out!!!
Keep up the great work. All the best to you and yours for the Holiday Season.

I feel that what you are doing is not just a community service to a county, or a State but to a Nation! Sorry that the highly educated judge does not see it that way. Judges usually get on power kicks and thats why they do what they do. Oh well. Know that theres a “Higher Judge.” Do whats right in your heart and karma will follow its course. When you see all the excitement on the soldiers faces I dont think that anything else will matter-you will know that it was a good deed. Be safe and we will pray for you! XO Jillian in CA

Its A cop out.
do your time!
December 2nd, 2008 at 6:20 pm
The judge’s decision is ridiculous. What you have done and are doing for our troops should be sufficent to satisfy the 80 hours of service. I am aware of many that are required to do community service and just have someone sign off on it, without performing 1 hour of it. I know the US Soldiers appreciate all that you do for them. My hope is that you will take refuge in the fact that so many in the world love you and your music. I like what you said about not letting the Devil get you down. Who knows, maybe when you do the community service you will meet someone that inspires you or someone that you inspire. I truly believe that everything will work out for your good, you are the Rock N Roll Jesus!!! By the way, I left my jacket at your house in TN or the limo……and it’s getting cold here in Texas!
December 2nd, 2008 at 6:48 pm
I am so thankful for “strong headed” people like yourself! Kid, you have been turning bad situations into something positive for sometime now. You turned the Waffle House situation into something that did some good for many people. You seem to find the good in many things in life. Credit is often not given to you when it is due but you do not seem to do these things to seek the glory or the choir boy image. It just comes from the goodness from within. You truly have a heart of gold. You set a great example for others whether you do it knowingly or not. Your son should be so proud that he has a father that wants to go and spend time taking a little bit of home to these soldiers during the holidays. That judge has sadly misjudged this situation by not letting you count this as a community service. You know, he obviously has not ever heard that if you step on people in this life, you’re going to come back as a cockroach. Well, a cockroach he’ll be! Judge Wong may not quite know what the taste of good heartedness taste like. Although I am sorry you did not get out of the community service, I know that you will again turn that crazy situation into something good. Thanks for all you do! Keep on making that awesome music. I hope to see concert # 5 if you ever get back to Texas! God Bless You and have a safe trip to the Middle East.

I live in Georgia and felt compelled to send Judge Wong an e-mail:
Judge Wong,
I am a Kid Rock fan for many reasons but let me tell you one of the many reasons I think he is such an amazing man. I will attach a picture so you can see the heart of what I am about to tell you.
Dillon Moody is a St. Jude’s cancer patent he has had inoperable brain cancer for 11 years. He has overcome many obstacles in his years and with the help of Kid Rock’s music and Kid Rock’s heart Dillon has lived. When I say lived I mean he has gone place he would never have gone, he has met people he would never have met; me being one of them; did I tell you I live here in Georgia; I do.
In 2004 Kid Rock took the time to meet this young boy he had heard so much about. Not only did he meet Dillon but he gave him t-shirts and other gifts that helped Dillon keep the faith. Dillon listens to “Only God Knows Why” when the battle of cancer is too much for his young 16 years. Did you hear about this in the news? Did you know he often does random kind things for other charities? Do you know he quietly makes donations to worthy causes? Guess not!
You truly know nothing about Kid Rock and his kindness, you know nothing about why he goes overseas and joins the troops for Christmas, if he did the things he does for the “CAMARA TIME” then answer me this, why would he not make sure the media was in the loop of all of the charitable things he does?
Judge Wong you should be ashamed of what you have said and done you are a disgrace to my home state as well as my country.
Sincerely,
Phyllis ___________

Coming from a military family, I say wow….wow…..wow……..emailed the judge with the question of who will benefit more……the American Soldiers away from their families for the holidays or the trash on the side of the highway in GA. Mr. Ritchie, what you do for our troops, the peeps of N’Awlins, and especially how your music makes us feel alive and free again, I thank you. As you have said when asked if you should have been a 70’s rocker, YOU were born at the right time, we all need a real musical genius and the TBT Band to help let us escape the woes of the world in which we live in today. Because we all do know that rock N roll does save the soul.
December 2nd, 2008 at 8:22 pm
Dear Bob,
I know that you bring joy to the soldiers every time you visit them in Iraq. And, I am sure that you will continue to go to Iraq even if there were no cameras or media coverage because you get joy in spreading your music, your gratitude and your spirit to others. So, even if this one preson told you NO, it seems to me that you never let this stop you before. DON’T LET ANYONE STEAL YOUR JOY! Continue to go to Iraq and entertain our troops. They need it. No, they deserve it! They protect the freedoms of this great country and keep us all safe. And to them, I am truly grateful. As far as the community service goes, maybe you could help with habitat for humanity in New Orleans? Or, help rebuild a playground in Detroit? I am sure that you will find another way to spread the good word and help others. Stay safe and focus on the positive! God Bless and Merry Christmas.
Laissez les bon temps roulez!
Your friend from Louisiana,
Kelley

Hey Rock, I’ve been following you for years now and listen to your music everyday, I’m not even kidding. Nothing but respect for you, but your comments hit me the wrong way. I’m kind of on the side of the judge. You were going over there anyway and planned on doing it for the troops, not to get out of community service over here. Suck it up, do the trip for the troops and deal with the community service when you get back. Complaining ain’t going to do a damn thing. PS. Don’t take this the wrong way… YOU ROCK. GO REDWINGS!!

Well, your heart is in the right place. You must answer for only what you do ….others must answer for what they do. It’s a shame more people aren’t aware of the wonderful things you do for others that are never publicized. FOR EXAMPLE: you met of friend of mine backstage at the recent CMA awards show. Because of the tragic loss she suffered in 2005, and your compassion for that loss, you got her contact information and sent her and her children a little “sumpin’, sumpin’”. Certainly not something expected for you to do……but certainly appreciated…. by not only her, but her friends and family as well. Those expressions of kindness will always come full circle. Happy Holidays to you, and God bless all that you do, and those who’s lives you touch.

Well, your heart is in the right place. You must answer for only what you do ….others must answer for what they do. It’s a shame more people aren’t aware of the wonderful things you do for others that are never publicized. FOR EXAMPLE: you met of friend of mine backstage at the recent CMA awards show. Because of the tragic loss she suffered in 2005, and your compassion for that loss, you got her contact information and sent her and her children a little “sumpin’, sumpin’”. dear Rock,
i’m an italian guy, your great great fan. I think you are the best of the american music, and you know how to mix musical qualities with a strong image: finally, art and show, no?
I changed, over my bed, the picture of Metallica for the yours. And i changed my favourite basketball team: i was for Supersonics, but now for the great Pistons.
I want to tell you about a problem i have: i try, in my neighbourhood in Italy, to change the form of making music and living the art: i want something closer your style, but the people don’t want to renew: what can i do? Do you understand me? was it the same for you in the beginning?
Ok, Rock, at least you keep on going for me and the many people who love you.
Your Chucky.

Hi Bob-
First I want to thank you for all of the wonderful things that you do. My husband and I had the absolute time of our lives at the Tabernacle (the night of the incident) last year and all I can say is I was disappointed we were not able to help you out in the “fray”. I usually frown upon the thought of my husband going to jail, but for the wonderful time we had, it would have been worth it. We have since been to five more of your concerts this year. Each and every time you never fail to sincerely thank everyone for coming out and spending their “hard earned” money. Each and every time, no matter how exhausting it must be, you give everyone a memorable and impressive show, and a break from the daily ax grind. My husband and I both felt compelled to write to Judge Wong on your behalf. I honestly do not believe that if this incident involved anyone else rather than you (ok–and maybe Lindsey Lohan or Brittany) it would have gotten this much attention. You are being unfairly judged by your “career” and status and not on a common sense basis. At this moment, I am truly ashamed to be a Georgia native (okay—there have been other times too). Perhaps a contribution to his next political campaign will ease this and it will go away….sadly, that is still how the good ole boy system works down here. Keep your head up and know there are people you will never know that appreciate you. I believe you to be a truly honest, generous and decent person with only one mistake that I have seen…..the P.A. thing. For God’s sake, can’t you just find a decent, regular nice girl! I hope you, your family and the TBTB (especially Steffanie—Hey Girl!) have great holidays in spite everything. Thanks for everything! Denise

I’m gonna offer to do the hours for you. I live close enough to drive if week ends can be arranged. I’ll make a call and see. You are right, Christmas is when you’re needed most of there. I thought the same about the importance of being there at Christmas and tried to get there this Christmas to volunteer where the soldiers are receiving immediate medical attention before being transported to other medical facilities. I wanted to be able to pray for them in that time, hopefully with a bit of a smile on my face to maybe encourage or comfort them in that time too maybe. I thought I could help at least change linens, clean or something to help & do it with a smile, but no luck. I was told to just send a phone card.
My thought was how could I give where it would really count. Many of them have given many Christmas times & I was thinking that visitors/ support / volunteers would be low at that time and since I have been blessed to spend every Christmas with my family, I thought if I gave this Christmas I would really be giving my best. So you are on the right page that Christmas is when YOU’RE need most. Take care & God Bless.

Hi Robert Ritchie!! There is one thing I have known all my life…if your name is “Bob” and you happen to be a muscian, you have a heart of gold. My dads name is Robert-and does whatever he can to help people out and be honest. Although he does not have the great success that you have obtained…he (and the band) did earn gold record aknowledgement. He is very proud of the mistakes he has made because he has learned from all of them and has taught everyone who knows him the “right” way…or what is considered to be “right”. He never changes his apperance or opinions to please anyone-we all love him the way he is:honest;helpful;respectful;and a damn good drummer!!! I know I am making a personal connection here that noone else cares about, but this is a commet page…
You did not create the”Waffle House” incident, you just fought back. You gave back to the community to “apoligize” and you are willing to serve your 80 hrs. in a better way than the judge could think of.
He is intimidated by you.If you would like the help, I would be happy to hold the trashbag on the side of the road for you…or hold the mic while you sing for our troops in Iraq.
Happy Holidays…hope to meet you soon one day and introduce you to my dad-you have a lot in common…good people.

OMG!! ‘Kid’ you give a lot of yourself, for alot of good!! The judge is a Big “D” & Wong is Wrong (hehe) for his decision. But you know what?? Fuck him! Lifes to short and yeah it’s all a money game with the court systems. I just wish you ” Happy Holidaze”, you, your family & your band family. God Bless you & keep you safe while on your journey over there. Return safely & we are right here waiting for your return. Give the Troops A Big wooh ha for all of us back here in the ” D”. Remember you can unload on us anytime!
Peace, Love & Rock On !
God Bless,

Bob, I am sickened by your motion being denied. I can see in his (”THE JUDGE”) motion that he has a bad attitude towards you. Fucking asshole has no clue. I agree with you that you should be pissed, however as we all know the judicial system makes no sense, there is no rhyme or reason. The fact that you raised $20k for the local homeless shelter speaks volumes, too bad the judge is a deaf fuck. Thanks for getting if off your chest, that always seems to help. Much love and support…rock on

Dude, by all means, go dust shelves at a library for 80 hours if that’s what this prick needs to feel his stroke. Record it, get it to YouTube (daily? hourly?) and criticize and speak and plead the 1st the whole way through it just to piss him off. For twenty-five plus years we’ve been putting up with prick judges (and one high-on) up Leelanau County way, and it’s fairly recently that I see in the Free Press that judges down there are starting to act the same way… Chances are, if any of us civilians up here were to do the same thing, they’d haul us back into court for a trumped-up violation of probation charge. You, sir, could help set precedent…
FYI: met Kenny O back in ‘83, long before I played drums or even knew he played guitar. Love what you did with him, love what you’ve done since, and thanks for helping to keep people looking at Deetroit and our State in general!
December 3rd, 2008 at 2:12 am
Yeah, when I posted that last, I was mistakenly thinking the incident took place downstate…
Georgia. I think judges way down there probably have a long and much nastier history of being pricks, huh? At any rate: dust the shelves, speak your mind, save the world

I would suggest, which I already have done, send an email telling that idiot of a judge what a disgrace he is and how can he call himself an American. Kid Rock is an awesome performer (saw him 3 going on 4 times) and I am sure that those troops love that he does that even without a court order to do it. I also said that he should be a shamed calling himself an American for those troops risk their lives every second of their day and he can turn around and do that?? Screw him! And Rock on Bobby! I will see you in A/C on 2/13/09!
December 3rd, 2008 at 12:37 pm
Hi Kid-
I have only been a fan since Oct.2007 after we saw you in Cincinnati at the Taft Theater and then again in Aug. on a beautiful summer evening at Riverbend. Little did my husbad know what a HHHUGE Kid Rock groupie I would become!!!(as much as a married 24 yrs. with 2 kids good woman kinda girl can be!!) I admire how you’ve fought your way to the top and never given up. You’ve been treated unfairly many times in my opinion but always manage to be the” Bigger man ” and come out on top….except in this case I would’nt suggest peeing on the judges couch….!!! HA!!(I hope I made you smile:)… was this true??!! Anyway , I have become a fan not only of your music but also of you because of your strong commitment to doing whats right even if it not popular. I am touched by the fact you sacrifice spending Christmas with your family to be with the troops. I love the ingenious way you work the media ie. Steal everything… and sending out this blog to us instead of you sending one e-mail to the judge …genious!!! I’m not so sure the judge will like you any better after he gets e-mails from most of the us military and all your fans around the world (congrats on the pop artist award!) but I think he will definetly get the point! I will be happy to e-mail the judge and suggest your trip count for at least half of the 80 hrs. (should be all in my opinion) if you give me a shout back and let me know if your ok with that suggestion. ( can’t blame a girl for trying!!!) A personal e-mail from you would be hot! All the best to you and your family and have a safe but amazing time with the troops. You know we love you! Hope this helps a little.
Love, Linda

My only daughter has been to iraq and back and says the entertainment that comes to see them is what keeps them going. It lets them know that they are still human and being thought of. This dip**** of a judge needs to go in my daughter or my son-in-laws place and see first hand what you and other entertainers mean to them. But that would take a set that he doesn’t have. Unlike yourself. Thank you for all you do for our boys and girls over seas, it is appreciated more than you realize. Bless you and yours!
December 3rd, 2008 at 1:04 pm
Hey Bob,
I had left a comment the other day about what has happened with the judge in GA and have been reading what other people have left for you since then. I had known your music and who you were for a long time but because of circumstances I had not taken the time to really become a fan until recently. Your music has touched my life in ways you will never know. And after reading some of the comments left by other members of the community and finding out really what kind of man and person that you are, I am all the more moved by all you do. Now I don’t think you’re a saint; I’m glad you’re not. But you are REAL and that is an uncommon thing to see today. You are a special person Bob Ritchie. Don’t ever let anyone tell you any different. And as you can see from the outpouring of support you are receiving from us, we are behind you all the way. Like you said, you ain’t even gonna let the Devil get you down. He’s just pissed because he thought he had you, but the light that comes from you is something even he couldn’t put out.
Please be safe and watchful in all your travels in the Middle East and thru Europe. Come home safe to us. We love you. Rock on little brother.

Dude~
You know in your heart…. that you are right. And truly that’s all that matters. If this judge is going to continue to be a prick, just understand…. karma… what comes around goes around… All you can do at this point is suck it up and if you can, do what you want to do with giving back to the community. There is nothing more important right now than the people that fight for our country and freedom. And by giving to them especially on Christmas, is probably the best thing for your soul. That’s the truth dude. Look at it positively if you can and realize that you have an extra opportunity to give back even more because of a prick judge.
Peace out…
Sugar….. from Michigan….

I have been to 5 of your concerts this tour so far (hope to make it to more) I am a hard working American who supports our troops. One of my favorite parts of your concert has been the feeling of patriotism. Giving back to those who keep us safe and free is an honor.
In my opinion the judge is wrong.
One more thought, I wanted you to know; I know AC/DC is one of your “inspirations” And my friend and I went to latest concert in Indiana ….and both of us looked at eachother and said “as great as this is? given the choice between going back for a Kid Rock show or the AC/DC show…Kid Rock hands down.
Have a great holiday and hope to see another show soon!!

Happy Holidays and safe journeys to you and yours. God Bless you for taking the time to remember our troops at the craziest time of year.
My personal opinion is that Judge Wong, as well as many here just don’t appreciate what your everyday life if like. You have an enormous following and lots of people who love you, not all of them know how to behave. I can only imagine what a toll that takes on your personal life, yet you still work hard to maintain a “normal” life. I can’t imagine there are many jobs in Debalk (sp) County GA that pay $10K a week (80 hours = 2 weeks = 20K). It seems as though someone is trying to take advantage and that’s unfortunate. Perhaps they are looking to gain further revenue from the media trying to catch you doing your community service? I wonder if they’ve taken into account your safety and security and what it would cost to make sure you’re able to fulfill your sentence safely.
Perhaps the answer is simply to invite Judge Wong along with you to Iraq so he can better understand exactly what is involved in pulling a trip like this off and how much it means to those you do it for.
God Bless and thank you for all you do
December 3rd, 2008 at 2:28 pm
What? You don’t get credit for community service for doing something you had already planned to do (and that will promote your career.) Go sing. And when you get back pick up some trash, remove some graffiti, and then go speak to some school kids about how they shouldn’t get drunk, get stupid, and get in fights. Your shelter project is a great example of how you could serve the community where you messed up. Do more of that.
December 3rd, 2008 at 2:39 pm
That makes me sick….You should not have been denied your request, this guy is an idiot. You do so much above and beyond and give so much back, this guy is a real jackass. I’m sure your trip to see the troups isn’t an easy process, not to mention you’re away from your own family AND you don’t do it for the press either, because you don’t make a huge announcement about it - you’re not doing it for anything other than the hardworking people over there defending our country. I have always totally admired you - completely - for years….I was VERY fortunate to have met you in Charleston, SC in Feburary, you were busy with the Blender Magazine photo shoot but totally walked away from it, came over with a smile and totally made my entire year! I couldn’t thank you enough for being so sweet and I know you’re hounded everywhere and probably get really tired of it, but you were the nicest!!!! It’s people like you that give diehard fans the moment of a lifetime - you know in your heart what you do is good, is the right thing and for this judge to deny your request is pathetic! Hope you have a wonderful Holiday!!!!! xo Suzi

Kid,
I belong to an organization called Rolling Thunder. We are a Veterans support organization. I have provided our National website for your review … http://www.RollingThunder1.org … check us out, we could use your help in raising awareness for the POW/MIA issue AND I think the Judge would have no issue with our group IF you choose to work with us.

DUDE Its called punishment. Do you think any of the rest of us could pick our punishment. I wouldn’t want to go over there for punishment because I would want the troops to know its from the heart. GROW-UP KID !!!
December 3rd, 2008 at 3:01 pm
I thnk that you are playing for and entertaining our troops is a wonderful and admiral thing for you to be doing. But I think the point of this Judge may be being overlooked. I am not forming an opinion since I dont have all the facts involved but just am stating there may be another side to consider. He may be trying to treat you as if you are not a rock star though Im sure most people think the oppisite. Just consider this though, if you werent Kid Rock you would helping local people in some way in the community where your violation occurred. I am sure there are presents for CHristmas that need to be wrapped for foster children in the area, Patrol cars or Fire Engines that need to be washed, food banks that need help, etc…I think the Judge may want you to serve your community service without fanfare, cameras, or even a blog on your page about how it is served. You broke a law and have to pay back for that, I wouldnt get to choose what community service that I received , why should you? I think its just somthing to consider. I hope you will continue to do your good work for the troops and any other charites you may support. But I think this may be a personal issue that has nothing to do with music or who you are. Is it a possibilty that may be the message the Judge is trying to convey?
God Bless and keep up the good work you are doing,
NC911
December 3rd, 2008 at 3:11 pm
You have been “sentenced” to perform community service for what you did. If you wish to see entertaining American Troops as a sentence, that’s up to you. Personally, I think you should look at it as an honor and privilege rather than a necessary punishment for breaking the law. I fully support the troops. I also applaud anyone who wants to entertain them because they want to do it…not because they’ve been sentenced to do it.
If you’re not one to shirk your responsibilities, then don’t. Stop whining, grow up, be Adult Rock for 80 hours, and don’t think you should get off the hook because you’ve got talent. I’m sure everyone serving time will tell you they’ve got plenty of talent , too. Look at Martha Stewart, lol. I’m sure she would have rather been taking pictures, shaking hands, etc.
It takes quite an ego to decide one’s own punishment. Do your 80 hours. Then go and entertain the troops because it’s part of you pride…not because it’s part of your guilt. And if doing the 80 hours conflicts with your tour…whose fault is that???
December 3rd, 2008 at 3:38 pm
Below is a copy of an e-mail I sent to the Judge. Come on “Rock” be an adult. Also thank you for all you do for our troops and other charities. Keep it up! Merry Christmas.
____________________
Your Honor, I am a fan of Kid Rock (Robert Ritchie). I just left his website where he vented regarding your recent ruling denying his 80 hours being roled into his USO trip. Kid Rock does many charitable things things throughout the year which I commend him for. He has also has travelled as part of of the USO three times (going on four). These are all great things he has done and is doing for the community. As a Judge, your decision was the correct one. Just because a person has on his/her schedule to perform chariatable activities doesn’t not mean they can committ crimes without “punishment”. The “punishment” being out the way to something special beyond a prepared event. Thank you for the clear ruling in this matter!
December 3rd, 2008 at 3:58 pm
I think the judge is trying to make Kid Rock do something that isn’t connected to his occupation. Perhaps he might consider serving food in a soup kitchen, volunteering at a senior center or else volunteering in a hospital, to take patients to x-ray, etc. To get into a fight was somewhat childish on the groups part, it only caused them to stoop as low as the persons who started the fight. And we all know that Kid Rock is not childish. But the judge seems to want him to do a community service of something other than what Kid Rock does so well, entertain. Perhaps if he looked at it that way, the judge might be more understanding. You will be amazed how your attitudes change when you are helping people directly, not just letting the money do the talking.
December 3rd, 2008 at 4:10 pm
Listen here Philly Tom and GJacobson I think you guys have taken this all wrong. The isssue at had is that the Judge has over steped his bounds and goes on to say that he does theses things for publisity? Not his place He is a Judge and that is were it ends. and Traveling to a war zone to help build moral for our men and women in service– is community service no matter how you see it. He does not have to do it but he does because that is how he knows to give of him self. This is all gotten way out of hand he had fight in a waffle house were he was provolked to defend him self and his Lady friend. The only people that were harmed was the stupid guy who should have minded his own business if he did not have anything nice to say And the Waffle house had to fix there window and they got lots of publicity and I know Bob paid his dues to them and to the Dekalb community. Which is way more than any other offender gets or does for fighting or oweing say Mega Child Support. He is clearlly being singled out as a ” Celeb” because in most places you can pay to have your community service done by others. He simply asked that his 144 or so hours of travel to Iraq and expence be counted as his community service. So your statement “Grow up” Who the hell are you.. F— Y– you are no fan Just single minded like the stupid Judge.
Punishment for what defending himself. It would be different if he did something wrong but in this case he did not.
December 3rd, 2008 at 4:12 pm
Hey bro. I dug your stuff from the first moment I heard it. Thanks for the music.
But……….you screwed up. You go rock n roll in a waffle house and you have to pay the price.
The judge is trying to teach you a small lesson. Accept it. Learn from it. Be a nicer dude the next time you blow into a waffle house for it and continue to make killer music.
If I were the judge, I would have said no too….then ran out and bought your next album.
Thanks again man.
December 3rd, 2008 at 4:13 pm
Two things…….
1- Your music is awesome. You have kept me entertained for many hours and I want to thank you for that. I also thank you for all the good you do. Do more!!!
2- As to what the judge wants - Get the fuck over it. Do whatever he asks and move on. Life is too short to worry about stuff like that.
Happy Holidays back at you from South Haven, MI
December 3rd, 2008 at 4:51 pm
Kid,
Sorry to hear about the petition being denied. Being involved with the troops, in my opinion, is not only honorable, but needed so much. The moral of the troops is so important at this time and the work you do in the Middle East with the USO is priceless.
I am involved in an organization that helps service members and their families that are in financial hardship because of deployments and the war. We do not give loans, but instead, grants. We do many fundraisers and events and there would be ample opportunities for volunteering your time and talent at any of them, if you were interested. Among other things, right now we are organizing a concert for the troops. Would love to have you!
Please feel free to visit our website http://www.usacares.org/ or email me at jfox@usacares.org
As a side note… i am a huge fan and want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for all you do for the Troops and other charities. May God Bless you, and may you and yours have a wonderful holiday.

that should have said… MORALE! the MORALE of the troops
December 3rd, 2008 at 4:55 pm
You remine us( your fans) how wonderful you are when you place yourself on the same level as the rest of us. You spend your time giving back every chance you get and it seems some take it for granted. You could just party it up all the time, like other artist sut you have a big heart! That does SUCK it’s over looked by a judge who does not pay attention to the facts of who and what you are about and what you do for this country. I have been to 2 of your concerts in Raleigh and you are an alsome person! SO HOLD YOUR Head High and Please keep doing what you are doing b/c. WE ALL LOVE IT!!!! BLESSINGS to you and your Family!!!!
December 3rd, 2008 at 4:58 pm
OK suck it up. Although a very worthy cause to perform for our troops, that’s not “community service” and you know it. If “average Joe (not the plumber)” has to pick up trash or whatever for his community service, you can too. You have an amazing talent that many wish they had just an ounce of…….don’t tarnish it by attempting to use it for a free pass.
And what the hell were you doing eating at the Waffle House anyway!!!
December 3rd, 2008 at 5:08 pm
HEY, I JUST WANTED TO SAY DOWN HERE IN KY WE BELIEVE IN YOU DON’T EVER LET ANYONE CHANGE YOU. YOU ARE GREAT AND WHAT YOU DO IS GREAT. SOME PEOPLE JUST DON’T UNDERSTAND YOU. THEY’RE SO STIFF AND NEGATIVE TOWARD THINGS OUTSIDE OF THEIR BOX THEY DON’T EVEN WANT TO UNDERSTAND. I’VE SAW YOU WITH THOSE TROOPS AND IT’S VERY SPECIAL. YOU ARE A WONDERFUL SOUL AND A BEAUTIFUL PERSON ON THE INSIDE, THAT’S SOMETHING THAT JUDGE WILL NEVER BE. PEOPLE LIKE HIM ARE CLOSE MINDED. IN TODAY’S WORLD YOU HAVE TO HAVE AN OPEN MIND…. KEEP DOING WHAT YOU DO & NEVER CHANGE……..LOVE, kygirlnlove
December 3rd, 2008 at 5:17 pm
Hmm….have been reading a lot of the responses…….wonder if all the other women would have replied the same if you had a pussy instead of a dick. Don’t mean a thing by it, just found it amusing.
Happy Holidays KR.
December 3rd, 2008 at 5:19 pm
I think for the most part everything has been said already! You are an awesome performer & an amazing person. The only thing I can see that you need to do is come to the Ford Center in OKC on this tour or better yet my house back in the woods! Judge Wong sucks wong!

Oops guess one of my comments needed to be cleaned up a bit…….
Hmmm….have been reading a lot of the responses………wonder if all the other women would have replied the same if you had a “female body part” instead of a “male body part”. Don’t mean a thing by it, really I don’t, was just amused by it.

Benning im a ex soldier out on a medical wish i could of saw one of your shows when i was in Iraq i think its awesome that you guys take your time out for us when your overseas its like having a piece of home their. former Michigan soldier

Bobby,
I think it’s awesome you chose to share your feelings on your blog, and I hope you continue to do so despite the asses that are out here putting you down. Pay no mind to those people (if they deserve to even be called people), who tell you to “get the fuck over it.” I think a lot of people just love to write harsh shit on anyone’s site, no matter who the person happens to be, because they have WAY too much time on their hands and have nothing productive going on in their lives. The lady, for instance, who wrote the judge telling him his decision was the correct one, should have taken five seconds to use spell check before sending it off. It’s a shame someone wants to ridicule someone else and can’t even spell their thoughts correctly, especially when it only takes a few seconds to spell check a document. People like to read or hear things half ass and make their assumption based on what they choose to understand through their selective hearing or reading. People don’t understand that you didn’t initiate this fight, you simply defended yourself and the person who was with you and the band. So why should you be subject to community service anyway? I completely understand you trying to use your Iraq trip to serve the 80 hours and I think the judge is wrong. I have written this a few times on your MySpace blogs, and I’m not writing it repeatedly to brag, but I just want you to know…I flew from St. Louis, MO to Atlanta, GA in March to meet you. You probably remember me, I’m legally blind, I was the woman with the guide dog. That day, I thought it was funny because you asked my dog’s name, but you never asked me my name. LOL. I got a kick out of that. Once in Atlanta, I took two Marta trains, a bus and a cab to come meet you, I had been trying for eight years. Ironically, the week before, a lot of friends were talking to me and saying I should give up following you and going to your shows because I would never meet you and they said I needed to accept that. And what do you know, a week later I did. It was totally worth it. That was my last trip with my guide dog because 3 months later, she was diagnosed with an untreatable form of stomach cancer and given 2 days to 2 weeks, and she died 3 months after I met you. I just want you to know I did that because I want you to understand how much I appreciate you as a person, not just as a rocker. I love your personality, and I will not stop following you until I get to talk to you more in depth. I hope to take you out and have a drink with you one day, or get you drunk as a skunk, LOL. I know we would click right away, I can tell that our personalities are a lot alike because I like to be very blunt and just put it out there. If you ever get tired of being a bimbo magnet and want the company and conversation of someone who can be genuine and real, come find me sooner than later. I definitely know how to BS and have a good time too. Here are two videos I found online of you and I hanging at the Waffle House.

Mr. Ritchie,
Shame on you for hiding behind our troops!
Exploiting them as “community service” is detestable!
You were already going to perform for them!
How is that punishment?
Pick up a vest and some trash bags and go clean up a highway!
Eighty hours worth of picking up trash should provide some sense of being punished.
By the way, the only two good Rockers that ever came from Michigan are Bob Seger and Ted Nugent.
December 3rd, 2008 at 6:32 pm
I am a HUGE fan and listen to your CD’s all the time! I would love to agree with you because performing for our troops would be great BUT community service is considered a punishment for your crime. I do not see performing for our troops as punishment, sorry:(
Have a wonderful Christmas Kid!

If you ever want to get away from all the publicity and press, give us a shout. If you like to hunt and fish, or just kick back and relax we’ve got a great spot. I’m a pretty die hard country fan but I’ve got to admit, your last album has got some great stuff on it.

Can’t help but wonder how many letters and emails Judge Alvin T. Wong is gonna get? hee hee!! Happy Holidays Kid!!!
December 3rd, 2008 at 7:08 pm
Thank you Jenn for the correction. I am bad speller and there is no spell check here. It is so crazy to see everyones views on things.. I wonder if he will ever even read it! I hope the Judges phone and email gets flooded HA HA JUDGE WONG…
December 3rd, 2008 at 7:42 pm
Although I agree that Judge obviously has a bug up his butt, ….I have an idea for you re: Community Service.
Why not suggest to his Honor that you will give tours of the courthouse and the jail? I work for the US Courts and find it very rewarding to teach a bunch of kids how the world works.. esp. how the Judicial system works. Most people do not have a clue about how laws are made, why voting is important, why if you get popped with some crack by a local cop you get a slap on the wrist, but if you get popped by a US Marshal you will get a min mandatory penalty of 5 years!
anyway… just a thought!
December 3rd, 2008 at 7:59 pm
Sorry, Dude. Time has come to pay the piper and do as you’re told, not as you want to do. Self expression stops when you violate someone else’s rights, like punching their lights out. Where would it stop if one defendant is allowed to suggest their own penalty? The next guy who has committed a more serious crime asks for home detention instead of 10 years in prison? Nope, the “System” still needs to hold some authority. Even for those that don’t like it.
December 3rd, 2008 at 8:03 pm
I have recently been a witness to what has happened to my soulmate, when he accidentally was involved in a situation beyond his control I was in the court and was amazed at how condescending and arrogant the judge was. At no time did he ever look up from his desk as any of us was making our pleadings. Then, he seemed to be looking for ways to insult and demean my husband, whil he said our grief was caused by him. I beg to differ. The judge seemed to think that insults and punishment would “teach” him to “honor” the laws of this country. What the “judge” HAS done, is destroy my respect for the court system of this country. My husband still honors it, but I make sure I obey laws, to AVOID the court system, not out of respect for laws, good or stupid. 80 hours of community service is totally absurd for a brawl-I bet the judge never even once considered the circumstances. I have learned out of this that our civics teacher in high school lied to us. Justice is not blind and is not balanced with mercy; courts are just demeaning and vindictive.
God bless you for having the honor for the troops that you do. You know what is important, even if a stupid judge does not! “Non illigitemi carborundum!”
December 3rd, 2008 at 8:22 pm
Kid:
Here’s the way I think the judge probably sees this (and forgive me - I’m a lawyer and big fan and just playing Devils advocate - no pun intended). First, you will probably go to the middle east and perform anyway, as you have in the years past. Second, why give you credit for what you are already going to do, as the Court Order is a method of punishment for your “bad” acts. Now, personally, the whole thing was blown way out of proportion. If any Joe smo would have done what you did, the system would not have made a big deal over the situation. The other guy would have been prosecuted, end of story. Do I think the judge is being unfair. Absolutely. When people spend time in jail, they get credit for time served prior to the final conviction. So, why not get credit in this matter? Its just another way of the legal system making a big scene over someone like you because they can. Personally, as I see it, You have done more for the community than many, many other entertainers ever dared. I read where you gave to the Boy Scout troop in Florida after their equipment was stolen. I have read numerous stories of your kind heartedness to those not so fortunate. I personally think its just a way of the legal system using you for an example so as to “deter” others. Does it work - no. If some a..wipe came up to me starting trouble, I probably would have lost my temper and ended up in the cell right next to you. WTF - Our legal system is so screwed up anymore, its not even funny. My personal advice, continue doing what you do and get your community service hours in as fast as possible and throw crow back on the Judge. I appreciate your honesty in this situation and am proud that you help so much with our troops. I’m glad there are still entertainers out there who have not thrown our guys to the wolves so to speak.
Thanks so much for all that you do, legally recognized or not.
God Bless you and have a great and safe holiday.
December 3rd, 2008 at 8:37 pm
Well thank you for your fine comment SMK2008va I am glad you feel the same way as Lawyer.. You must be a Defence Lawyer HA HA.. I wish I could have articulated my words as u have done. But ditto. Right ON.. U see this crap all the time. and if it were John Doe first offence in Georgia i think it would have been time served just for the over night stay in jail + Restitution. He has done more that that and then some.. Kudos to you for speaking the truth.
December 3rd, 2008 at 9:03 pm
WOW. What a bummer! As to the opinions given – what a great group of fans you have. Okay, the judge has a point, but considering the ‘crime’ I think the punishment should involve whatever is best for the community overall. Since that isn’t what happened, here’s what I’d do if I were you:
Determine the next election and support a different judge.
If the judge is appointed, support the one running against whoever appointed him.
December 3rd, 2008 at 9:07 pm
Sorry, forgot to add….. your situation and response got you one more fan – me.
December 3rd, 2008 at 9:13 pm
This seems to be the big news. Which it is hard for me to understand. The big news should be about all the awards Kid Rock has won this year, not about some petty stuff like this. And to all you people who have bad things to say, try to be positive. This happened like a long time ago.
Kid Rock may be kind yes but you have to understand people from detroit are alot more tuff than most people. He will get over this with the help of people like me who really do care.
December 3rd, 2008 at 10:18 pm
I live and work in ATL with an office full of attorneys. Fire your lawyer. He/she should have asked for a jury trial. There is not a jury in Dekalb County that would have found you guilty (jury nullification) of defending a lady when some asshole was talking shit to her. I know requesting a jury is a pain in the ass, time consuming, etc. and its normally not done for minor infractions. But in any event, you did what any man should do in that situation. And I would imagine the judge would find it punishment to have to spend his Christmas in Iraq. We love you in Atlanta! And we love your support for our troops! I just watched StoryTellers the other night and you are more awesome every time I see you. So try not to let that asshole judge spoil your Christmas. What goes around, comes around…..
December 3rd, 2008 at 10:21 pm
Okay, I was just agitated, now I’m PISSED OFF!!!! The ignorant attitude of Judge Wrong was chafing my ass well enough, but then I started reading through some of these postings.
Axomomma says “Hiding behind the troops is detestable”. JDNYC says “suck it up”.
PhillyTom babbles inane bullshit about Martha Stewart. Enough!!!!!!!
First, Axomomma, Kid Rock isn’t hiding behind the troops, he’s just trying to get credit for what he is going to do. If this judge had a sense of Justice then he would give Kid Rock retroactive credit for the THREE USO TOURS THAT HE HAS ALREADY DONE!!!! But denying the man credit for the homeless shelter benefit that raised $20000 is indefensible, and it is this particular act that exposes him for the publicity seeking leech that he is. Some jurisdictions allow people to pay off their community service at $10 per hour. By that standard, the shelter benefit paid off Kid Rock’s obligation 25 times over.
PhillyTom, WTF about Martha Stewart? She was convicted of a serious crime and sent to prison. Kid Rock was convicted of bitchslapping a punk ass weasel who deliberately started a fight because he thought he could gain from it monetarily.
JDNYC, suck this up: —-C======O/O
Here is a news flash for you people. Community service isn’t normally intended to be punitive, it is to try to cultivate a sense of service to community that is missing in many people.
And this is the fly in the ointment here, judges like Wrong never seem to take into account that for some people community service is a way of life. Did I mention THREE USO TOURS ALREADY PERFORMED yet?
December 3rd, 2008 at 11:00 pm
To those who bitched about my post…
CHOOSING to do community service voluntarily, without expectation or hope of payback of any type is a wonderful, selfless act.
Being SENTENCED to community service is an entirely different matter. And news flash, jamcrane3…when it comes as a judicial sentence, it IS MEANT to be punitive. One who is sentenced to community service does not get to choose. Punishment for a crime…regardless of type or size of the crime, or the public opinion surrounding it…is handed out, NOT chosen.
I may be a fan of Kid Rock, but hearing him try to weasel his way out of 80 hours of local community service by offering to do something he already planned on doing (because he loves it and it’s his job) sounds totally egocentric and selfish. And now he’s calling his trip to the Middle East “bittersweet” because he didn’t get his way. Awww. Gee. I still say “GROW UP.”
It’s funny how so many here think it’s wonderful that Kid Rock is going to support the troops and the democracy they’re fighting for…but then want the laws of that democracy tailored so that their idol can make it work around his own schedule and needs. Sounds kind of out of balance to me.
December 4th, 2008 at 12:07 am
It is damn sure not his job to do USO tours, and he chose to do the THREE PREVIOUS TOURS, as he has chosen to do this one, and yes, it is a wonderful, selfless act, and you just used the word “weasel” against this man! I still don’t get get the Martha Stewart bullshit. Any opinion on the homeless shelter benefit? And please tell me, since you’re such a fan of the
Dishonorable Judge Wrong, what does a camera have to do with a damn thing? What judicial purpose did that remark serve, besides illuminating the true nature of his bias? Lady Justice’s blindfold must have slipped a bit, since apparently, she’s peeking through a fucking camera lens.
December 4th, 2008 at 12:15 am
Philly Tom U R an Ass no one is asking for any laws of Democracy to be taylored? Dumb ass! All he ask was for that to count for the 80 hours. Most everyone gets to do the community Services of there choice. It is rare when the Judge ask for a specific task and under much differnt circumstances. He was” egocentic and selfish”? How dare you You might want to “GROW UP” and look at the big picture here.
So What he wants credit for the CS for going to Iraq he desserves it. It is his time and his dime. Yes, he has done this in the past and so what should that make ot less of a service? WHat the hell is wrong with u. Should he have paid $800 for the time or maybe have donated some can goods? OR dumb ass would you rather have him boost morale of hundreds of our troops and raise $200000 for the homeless of Dekalb County. The scale has broke and he wins. This is way more than any other “Joe” would have been made to do or would have done on his or her own even having be convicted of a more serious crime.. So agian F— y–. Do the Math.
December 4th, 2008 at 12:19 am
i must correct it should be 20,000 ” almost $20,000″ and F— y– agian Jerk.
December 4th, 2008 at 12:38 am
No matter what the judge says - please know that we appreciate what you do for the troops, and I’m sure that they appreciate it too.
If you’re in Nashville and can do some of the community service here, I work for a non-profit that serves mentally retarded & developmentally disabled adults and children in TN and I would imagine that doing a meet & greet with some of our folks would definitely count. You’ve got fans all over and I know one aspiring DJ that would LOVE to meet you!
Anyway - thanks. Your music means a lot to so many people, for so many reasons.
December 4th, 2008 at 12:38 am
Rock,
I love you. I have admired you and your music for quite some years now and I am only in my early 20’s. BUT I would have to disagree and side with the Judge on this one. I don’t think his statement sounded ignorant at all, and I don’t think he was discrediting all that you have done for the troops. My personal opinion is that community service should be something that you wouldn’t ordinarily do, especially if it’s meant to be a punishment. And I think you’d agree that performing and putting smile on troops faces is not much of a punishment. But like you said, maybe you can make the most out of this. Turn a bad situation into something good. I’m sure there are other community service things you can do besides picking up trash that will make a dent in the community. You’ll figure it out. Try not to be sour. We all have to do things we don’t like. We just have to make sure that we learn from them.
=]
December 4th, 2008 at 1:40 am
Bob,
Look at it this way, someone somewhere is gonna be crapping their pants when you show up to do community service for them. Hopefully you can find something that is meaningful to you as well. Can’t wait to hear the tune you right about this one.
Also wanted to add that I attended the concert you did in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan this year. Since then (August) 5 of my 6 CD’s in my vehicle are yours. LOL The other one right now is AC/DC’s new Black Ice. I travel over 5000km/month so that means I’m listening to a LOT of Kid Rock music.
Keep up the good work…oh and stay away from the skanks.
December 4th, 2008 at 1:42 am
It was a brawl. Was anyone seriously injured? Things like this happen all the time. And so many people get the charges dropped. Some, sure they have to do a bit of jail time, not much though. Then there is the fine and then some for anger management. Ok so maybe it all just depends on where ya live and depends on the judges. But something like this is peddly crap. Who cares about some fight(as long as no one ended up seriously injured or dead)? I prefer to worry about and care about…hey lets say drugs on the street, or gang shootings, robberies, and so much more worse then some brawl.
And from my understanding….that guy is the one who brought it on, he wouldn’t shut his freakin mouth, you get what you put in. Ok some people can walk away from that, and some can’t. Some of you think it’s that easy to just walk away. It’s not for some. And I don’t have a temper but I do understand those that do. Maybe some of you haven’t been in this situation and you would not understand if you haven’t. And truthfully, most people I have known to get into fights….never done community service, half the time these cases get dropped, or they have to just pay for the damages done. Not only that Kid has been good for over a year, he has done a lot of good this past year. I know he felt bad about that fight. I’m not saying what he did was right, but it’s something that happens.
The question is…..RISKING your life(even though you done it a few times before) to go entertain the men and woman that fight for our freedom….isn’t a price to pay?
My final opinion is….there never should have been community service on this.

Hey Kid,
Your doing the right thing for our country and our service men and women. They defintely need someone like you to keep there spirits up. Fuck that judge, he can stick it were the sun don’t shine…biiioottch. What goes around comes around, you know that by now!!! I hope you like the key chain, I was hoping to hear some feedback. Call when your back in town, or hopefully I’ll see ya in C-town.

Kid,
You are a humanitarian. I know it, you know it and all your fans know it. Screw that judge and just keep doing what you do best. Hope you have a wonderful trip to Iraq. I know how much your visits mean to the men and women that our fighting for our freedom each and every day. Have a very Merry Christmas and will you please come back to Cincy soon?

His name is WONG and he aint RIIIIGGGGGTTTTTT!!!!
We love you in Atlanta. Stay positive. Can’t wait to see you again in Atlantic City.
December 4th, 2008 at 12:13 pm
I know you will all send hate messages back to me - but here it goes anyways. I do love Kid and his music. I love that he does travel to entertain our troops. I love that we live in America and it doesn’t matter who you are - star or not - that if you do the crime you pay the price. To many times stars get off because of who they are. If I have to do community service I don’t get to pick what I want to do. I don’t get to say that I want to work with kids with disabilities because I was already going to do that. Do the crime & receive the punishment & take it like a man. That will allow me to continue to respect you.
December 4th, 2008 at 1:07 pm
Just a word to everyone about court ordered community service:
Judges can assign a certain number of hours of “community service” to be performed and the guidelines for fulfilling that service without dictating the type of service or assigning a job like picking up trash, etc.
I got a speeding ticket and was assigned community service - 20 hours (and a hefty fine) - to be completed at a non-profit organization for the benefit of others and it was up to me to decide what that was going to be. The organization had to write a letter documenting my hours and what I did that I could send in with the $$$ for the fine. And I had a deadline to get it done - or else.
The judge pointed out that you’d better choose wisely because you could do the 20 (or however many) hours, send in the letter & money, and if the court decided that whatever you decided to do did NOT fit their idea of community service, too damn bad - they kept your money and assigned the points to your license, plus whatever else they had suspended so in some cases, you could find your ass in jail because the judge decided reading to blind hookers at the pool hall didn’t count.
At least Kid knows up front that what he wanted to do wasn’t going to work and has a chance to make other arrangements to get it done rather than face a full penalty.
December 4th, 2008 at 2:32 pm
You are unique and have been given a gift to become a top singer/songwriter. And you give back in so many ways that alot of entertainers don’t do. Just your concerts alone for the general public show how much you love what you do and how much you care about your fans! It’s too bad that the judge didn’t acknowledge even the fundraiser at the Waffle House. The work you do is so important and don’t let that judge get you down—I think this one definitely deserves a good ‘ol country song–”let your mind be free”…and write it! Just bought SRO tickets to Greeley Stampede on July 3rd—can’t wait.
December 4th, 2008 at 2:52 pm
Couldn’t agree more with you on that one! Our country seems to have forgotten what the war is about and I would think the judge would actually appreciate you risking your life going over there to support and entertain the soldiers of our country! That’s the problem with this country today, too many people trying to tell us what is best for us and telling us what to do. They need to quit worry about the asinine bullshit and worry about the true criminals (including our polticians! Hope to see you tour again in the Louisville, KY area!

I’ve been a fan from the early days and have seen you perform in LA and Vegas. Always a great show and I admire your work for our troops. But you are acting like a fucking pussy. Man-up and take responsibility for doing dumb shit. You and your so called “posse” were involved in a brawl and are being punished for it. Do your 80 hours and set a good example for your son.
As for these other yahoos on this page talking that “judge is wrong” crap. Here the facts.
Kid and Co. did something illegal, They are being punished with community service and NOT jail time as you or I would probably get.
Well genius what is your excuse going to be when that judge you’ve instigated harassment of sues you? How can someone with no stones (or brains) be named Rock?
December 4th, 2008 at 6:15 pm
Hi Bob -
Well, I read your blog and the highlights of the 106 responses. Wow. It seems as though there are some people wanting to kiss your ass at all costs and a few that aren’t even fans. Who visits the website of an artist they don’t even like? Unreal.
Let me start by saying that I AM a fan of your music. It’s gotten me through the darkest of days and I’m thankful for artists like yourself who are willing to share a part of themselves with a world full of strangers. There’s an honesty to your work that I truly enjoy and you’re one of the few entertainers that I make an effort to see live when you visit Pittsburgh.
I also admire your involvement with our troops, your patriotism and the difference you make in the lives of our American soliders deployed overseas. I know you do your fair share of ‘charity’ work although somehow I think you don’t view it as charity; from helping out a boy scout troop to donating to a shelter for the homeless.
Instead of commenting on whether I personally believe if the judge was right or wrong in this matter or even commenting on whether or not you were treated unfairly from the get go because of your celebrity…let me say this.
The decision has been made and right or wrong, it kind of is what it is. It’s out of your control. What is in your control is what you do from here. I don’t pretend to know Bob, the person, as I am only familiar with Kid Rock, his music and his public persona but I truly believe that there is a golden oppurtunity in just about every unpleasant situation and as people, we’re given a chance to maybe learn something about ourselves if we step out of our comfort zone. Your comfort zone must be your music, you’re a songwriter I’ve heard that more than once!
My advice and my hope as a fan of the music is that with dignity, you’ll move on. You requested that your community service be fulfilled in Iraq, it was denied and what’s done is done. Maybe you can spend some time thinking about how you WILL fulfill those 80 hours in a way that will make a difference in the lives of others here at home. I hardly think picking up roadside trash or dusting bookshelves is the answer.
You’re FAMOUS, use that to your advantage in a good honest way. There’s a lot of good hearted, hurting people out there; hurting financially, hurting mentally, hurting physically. There are kids that need someone to believe in them, seniors that need to believe that the world hasn’t forgotten them, military families just as lonely and scared as their loved ones you work so hard to reach out to. You don’t have to sing a song or perform to make a difference, to be an influence, you just have to show up, lend a hand or a shoulder. I think you may already know that.
So, let the anger, justified or not, pass and focus on showing that judge, your family, your friends, your fans and the world, just what you can do with 80 hours.
Be safe and be blessed in your holiday travel to the Middle East. Let our soldiers know that we love them, miss them and support them. Happy Holidays.
Amy

I sent this via email to this worthless Judge:
JUDGE WONG, ARE YOUR KIDS SERVING IN IRAQ?
OF COURSE NOT.
YET YOU HAVE THE CHUTZPAH TO DENY KID ROCK’S
REQUEST TO DO HIS COMMUNITY SERVICE DOING WHAT
HE DOES BEST, BRINGING JOY AND HOPE AND FUN TO
OUR TROOPS WHO ARE GOING THROUGH A LIVING HELL.
YOU ARE DISGRACE TO THE ROBE.
YOU ARE DESPICABLE.
THE POWER OF YOUR AUTHORITY HAS OVERTAKEN YOUR
SENSE OF LOGIC AND REALITY.
THE TROOPS LOVE KID ROCK.
IT’S JUDGES LIKE YOU WHO SHOULD BE VOTED OUT OF
OFFICE, YOU SHAME THE VERY CHAIR YOU SIT IN.
I AM ASHAMED OF YOU.
December 4th, 2008 at 8:10 pm
Well, I think I am probably going to be the only one that disagrees with you. I appreciate all you do for the USO and our service men. There is no question that you are sincere in your efforts, but I find *this* completely unacceptable. The fact of the matter is your broke the law and in turn you are to be punished. It is not up to you or any defendant for that matter to decide what that punishment should be. Our judicial system is part of what our service men are fighting for. Because of who you are and the fame that you bring along with the name *Kid Rock* you are able to influence a large number of our population and with that influence comes responsibility. Wh
