hey guys, so im comin over from Australia with a couple friends and we are hiring and RV to drive to these Detroit gigs, in Clarkston, was wondering if anyone knows of any caravan parks around Clarkston that would be good to stay at? and also any tips on what areas we should stay away from to avoid trouble?
I don't see a scratch y'all, maybe it's just the camera flash? It's a dark color, and heck, dark colored vehicles under lites will make even fine surface lines from waxing & such appear as scratches. I don't remember any one saying Kid's car was damaged who was there, just remember them all talking about some guy was messing with Kid's car out front, his being summoned outside...I think they thought the dude was just getting close to admire it, but apparently someone thought they were too close, haha.
Hah, that fab tour that Bart posted is worth a scratch repair on your vehicle. Such a treat to see those sites both in the daytime, and late at nite. Detroit architecture rocks downtown. Make sure you bring your cameras.
The police were called because the car was getting a police escort from Detroit back to it's driveway...the after party was over and everyone was going home.
Have fun in Detroit angelwings. The Old English D is gone and will probably never return. Good luck on your venture.

Don't believe you, but, enjoy the sites others mentioned.
Ha ha me too on seeing all the cars he has restored, Hey Kid would love the keys to them babies.I would love to see the performance of them. LOL, My friends wanted to go see his shows last year at DTE, 1 for him and 2 see all the automobile museums.3 Motown and 4 all the other history there. That would rev me up too:)
Connie Jo said:Yeah, I would love to see all the restored classics in Kid's collection! I know he has some awesome ones, and this is just one of many. I love these pics, the historic architecture of the Fox, and would imagine when visiting one could sense or 'feel' the history of entertainment that has taken place there over time. I usually get goose bumps when visiting such historic sites, haha. :)MISSY said:Connie Jo, the pics you showed, Love the paint job, That is a beautiful classic.

Bart said:You picked a great week to be here....The forecast is sunshine, low humidity, temps in the mid 70's into the 80's over the weekend. Perfect ballgame weather.I don't know how much "off" time you have but you should get out of the city of Detroit and see what this state is all about...head to northern Michigan - Traverse City, the Mackinac bridge/island, or one of the beach towns in west Michigan..Truly beautiful.Enjoy your time in the Great Lakes State. Let us know if you need any help or have other questions...
Unfortunately, I don't have any days off-just mornings and late nights really, so I won't have time to get very far from the Detroit area. I will still be here for the 4th, so if anyone has any recommendations for fireworks, etc. that would be great. I have heard Detroit has a big fireworks display somewhere. Thanks!
Excellent recommendations Bart! Someday I hope to fulfill my dream of visiting Detroit, and your suggestions are what I envision myself wanting to do and see. You're correct, the area Kid currently resides is a 'township'...rather than a town, so to speak. That said, I wouldn't mind having a fan/tourist buzz by photo of the 'gates with the D logo'. Heck, I don't have much interest in the house itself, only seeing the famed gates, lol. Other historic places I want to visit in the 'D' are The Emerald, Fox, State Theatre. :)
Below are some pics taken of Kid and his car outside the Fox back in August 2004...Dime was having his CD release party at the Fox that night, Kid attended...some guy started messing with Kid's car out front somehow, the cops were called, as well as Kid was summoned outside, lol.

Thats cool Angelwings and we dont mean to be rude but you can imagine how many peeps come on wanting Bobs phone number, address, personal info..... So we tend to be a little protective lol have fun

Bart said:Honestly, it would be a waste of a trip to find his town....It really is in the middle of nowhere. I think it's more of a township than a town.
My suggestion would be to take pictures of the places he mentions in his songs and videos vs. his actual home.
Comerica Park, Motown museum, the big fist downtown, the old train station, Harry the Hatter (where he gets his hats), cheli's chili, (Chris Chelios' restaurant by Comerica) Romeo, Joe Louis Arena, The Palace of Auburn Hills, Lake St. Clair, 75 north Detroit sign, Woodward ave, 8 mile, etc....There are lots of "Detroit" signs around...Get creative and figure out why it was such a great city back in it's day.
Also - be careful in the D....It's not a tourist friendly city once you get away from the stadiums. etc....It gets rough really quickly. Bring some spare dollars with you in the city - you will get asked for spare change on occasion....
Good luck - Have fun. I was just there last weekend and I'm always amazed at the style of the buildings downtown. They are very cool.
Yep Yep Bart I agree 100% good response
