My heart breaks and bleeds...I'm at a loss for words. Thoughts and Prayers for Our Fellow Villagers in Oklahoma.
......... Oh, nevermind......... I don't think anybody does....... Let me just say that the UNITED STATES POSTAL SERVICE is about to change for the worse... YES, that is possible...... If you expect something in the mail in a day or two, add at least 5 more days to that..... That means checks, cards, payments, and everything else.....
Soon, there will be another 200,000 people out of work.......Myself included, which means my Kid Rock adventures, i.e. the Kid Rock Cruise and concerts will be lost.....UNEMPLOYEMENT..... IT'S THE AMERICAN WAY!!!

And yeah we do care Annette....I send most all my bills by USPS. I use it when i sell on EBAY (which isn't often i won't blow smoke up yours or anybody else's ass on that i buy more then i sell most times i comes by USPS though), etc. Most things i use the USPS for. IT has been reliable in the past. I also remember as a kid going to the post office and getting the mail once i was tall enough. Our box was on the top row. You had to memorize your box combination. Ours was a notch after K on the first and notch after O on the other.
So yeah we do care we are just a bit helpless with all this...
I can feel ya Annette. I went through the same type of thing in 2006. I was 35 and had had that job for 5 years. I worked for Technicolor Universal Media Services. We made cds and dvds...When i landed the job permanently i was ecstatic. I love music and movies. I could go up in one rack and see Aretha Franklin and in the next rack there was the Blood Hound Gang. It was heaven to me.
As it seems in my life a lot deja vu and coincidence happens. I went to the post office a block away from my house. A lady i work with has a husband that works in a slightly bigger town close had said my post office will be closing in April. So me being me i had to go in ours and find out. I talked to Theresa the lady that works the counter. She confirmed it, but told me they pushed it back to May. They have already cut Theresa's hours now they are ending her job. In the past year they shut down sorting there. It gets sorted and delivered from the slightly bigger close town now. She said we could call our Congressman or whatever and complain. My response is i will email him probably today or tomorrow.
It seems the more we progress the more we digress. Technology is ending many daily things. And i also think it has to do with the trickle effect. Such as the auto industry going down etc. When the foundation, the middle class of society is hit hard i think eventually it effects everyone. There is a few pluses going on around here but i am not sure it will help. Some of our coal mines are opening back up and hiring ppl. As well as tire factory is expanding in the near future. Once a foundation rebuilds other things will open up i think. But it will not happen overnight. Just like it took a while for it to crumble. It will take time for it to rebuild.
So Annette i do hope your life turns around after this setback. That is how i would try to see it if i was you. I remember i did a lot of soul searching in 2006, but here i am now. Life ain't great but it is better then i expected.
May you be Blessed throughout this Holiday Season, with Hope and Cheer :) ~ Love, Laughter and a Light Spirit. "In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths." Prov.3:6. God Bless you, Annette, as you move into the New Year ... with His Peace, comfort, and security. Amen
Thank you, everybody, for caring!!!
I'm sure eveything will work out for me, as it always does.....I just thought that at the age of 39, 8yrs ago, when I got a full time job working for the USPS, I'd have a place to retire from, a little security.....I probably wouldn't have stayed at this job if it was "just another job"... It's very political and frustrating....and now it's worse!!!
The USPS is a service that our government offers to its people.... it's a NON-PROFIT organization.... Showing a money making profit is NOT the idea of the USPS!!!! So, with THAT said, why is it that all the big shots, i.e. Post Master General, Pat Donahoe, are making $450,000 a year and making the decision to SLOW DOWN THE PROCESS OF MAIL STANDARDS by closing plants and taking away jobs?!?! Is he going to deliver the mail himself?!? Bottom line is: We are losing our processing plants, EVERYBODY is losing a service that is provided by OUR government, so that PAT DONAHOE and his CRONIES can STILL make $450,000 a year...... TO DO NOTHING!!! they should be ashamed of themselves!!! I will possibly be unemployed, so that HE can still make $450.000 a year... And I'm sure they will all get bonuses too, because the USPS is funded by the USA and in order to recieve the same funds as previously gotten, they have to ''SPEND'' it.....if there are 220.000 less employees, then WHO is going to get that money?!?!?! YOU GUESSED IT!!! MR. DONAHOE AND FRIENDS!!!!!
So, basically, we all suffer, so that Donahoe and friends can make MORE MONEY!!!!! I'M SO PROUD TO BE AN AMERICAN!!!! Just not a poor one!!
Hang in there, Annette. There are people who care. I too hope you land on your feet. Prayers.
that is awful....maybe this closed door will open a "window" for you...have faith....
I care. So sorry, Annette.
It seems that many aspects of our lives are changing. I come from a newspaper background. That industry has changed immensely the past decade. Just think of how many customers newspapers have lost and how thin the papers have become (the ones that actually still exist).
I hope you land on your feet. I know you must feel anxious. Stay positive and good luck :)
:( So sad and you would think they would keep it going at least until after busy season and not run a skeleton crew for the workers that are kept for the holidays and then to let people go for the holidays is just heartless-like Scrooge!!!
I am so sorry Annette :( prayers are with you and all the others-just downright sad!
i sure do care. my prayers i hope God opens a window for you where the door has been closed. i know that sounds lame when your facing something like this. i've lost three jobs in three years after a good work record. i am employed now. i know that gut wretching feeling, trying to find hope when ache just doesn't let up. God Bless you.
It's hit my small community that has only 1 small post office or should I say post trailer..
This story got my attention today. Its a big deal. Yes I care
