Do all my fellow Wingnuts have their Octopi ready to throw tonight? Sure am hoping for the best, but don't think it's gonna happen. GO WINGS!!!!
How does one even begin to give many thanks to such a wonderful and talented man? – a man of honor and integrity, a man with a huge heart, a man who has given such a beautiful gift to us all, just by strumming a guitar and singing into the mic.
How do we give thanks to a man that has made music to sooth our souls, take us out of a funk, rock our hearts out, and take us on-board the "Rock n Roll Pain Train".
How do we thank our hero, our brother, our bona fide music maker?
I’m not sure exactly… but my guess is we can start out by listening to the words in his songs, and believe in the power being good to each other. We can slap hands and high five the person aside of us at a show. We can offer up a couple of beers to the people in the car next to us at a pre-party tailgate. We can lend an ear to someone who’s having a bad day on the Kid Rock forum. We can join a Kid Rock fan charity group to reach out to a sick child. We can thank a soldier for their service. Yea…. I think that’s a good way to start giving thanks in honor of our man, being good to each other, and loving one another.
But then, how does one give thanks to the man when he does something extra special? When he goes above and beyond, and that something special was meant especially for you?
Please forgive me as my words may not come out right, as I’m often misunderstood. But, I’m still feeling quite in a daze which I may not come out of for a long time. My emotions have been running on high since Friday. But, in the best possible way that I can, I need to share a little of what happen over the course of this past weekend.
My husband and I had received a phone call on Friday from a very nice woman who explained to us that Kid Rock was combing thru the posts on the official website forum, and that he came across one of my posts that may have touched his heart. At the time, I wasn’t sure which post he was looking at because I do tend to post a lot, and I’ve had a lot of misfortunate things happen in my life over the past two years… from my mom being ill, to my work layoff, and just on this year's cruise I wasn’t able to get on the island and see the main show from being sick, so I was trying to figure out what he might of seen b/c I remember posting to friends about all of the above. But, she mentioned to me that he would like to do something special for us. He wanted us to choose a show and that he would take care of the tickets, flight, and accommodations. Well, I was floored, I remember pausing for quite a while, and then stuttering and stumbling my way thru the rest of the phone call.
I end up calling my husband, and telling him what had just happened. He had just left early from work, and was at the doctor’s office because he hurt his hand pretty badly the night before. So, he’s sitting in an exam room waiting for the doc to come in, and I tell him the news. Once again, a long silent pause and then “Are you joking”… and I say “No, and yes I am in total shock right now”.
As crazy as it may seem, we asked if the DSO show would be an option. Realizing it was just one day away, we were willing to get in the car by the end of my work day at 11pm and drive the 10 hours to Detroit. We thought if there was ever a show to see that it had to be this one. And, the next thing we knew, we were on a flight out of Philly the next morning going to Detroit to see Kid Rock & Twisted Trucker Band with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra at the historical Fox Theater.
Geno and I just couldn’t believe what was happening. We kept looking at each other, smiling, shaking our heads, and giggling like a couple of kids thinking this was all just a dream. We had gotten little if any sleep on Friday night. We pretty much kept ourselves up all night blasting Kid Rock cds – replaying over and over again “Only God Knows Why”. We were so excited and in total shock of it all, that even when we did finally lay down at 2 in the morning, we were just so excited about it that we couldn’t fall asleep.
The Show
First, I have to mention about how beautiful and breath-taking the Fox Theater is. From the marque and the architect of the outside of the building to the art glass chandelier, ceiling, columns, and red velvet curtain on the inside, this place is gorgeous. It’s so classy and elegant. A thought came to my mind while gazing around that it is my understanding that this is the place that Kid Rock did his show that was broadcasted on HBO’s Reverb back in 1999. I remember back to when we saw that show on HBO, which lit a fire in our bellies to go out and purchase our first ever concert tickets to see them live back in Oct, 1999. So, just being there, and getting a chance to take this all in was just so surreal for us.
On our way in we were handed a program. It had some information and articles pertaining to the DSO, the names of the musicians and conductor, some places they are going to be playing, like Carnegie Hall in 2013. There was a page devoted for the Kid Rock Foundation which features a picture of Kid Rock and the band on-stage behind the CARE banner, and down below a paragraph to read explaining that in 2011 the Kid Rock Foundation distributed three quarters of a million dollars to charitable causes. It also had a listing of songs the DSO was going to be performing before Rock and the band were to take the stage. I saw unique full page MID and Badass Beer advertisement in there, as well. It’s quite a keepsake.
The show was just incredible. The DSO played a few numbers before the band came out. There was quite an excitable feeling that came over me listening to them play, along with the feeling of anticipation of them playing with Kid Rock and TBT. Looking around, I felt like that was the overall mood in the crowd as well. - excited to be there. My favorite of the numbers had to be Beethoven’s “Symphony No. 5 in C Minor” because it was what was played, as well as Mozart, growing-up in my parent’s house. And, then their finale number kind of made me giggle a lot “Finale from overture to William Tell” because towards the end of it, TBT had slowly began walking out to their positions at their instruments. Kid Rock was the last to come out sporting a tux and he started the show out with “Devil without a Cause”. Hearing the DSO back him and the band was bone chilling. I didn't catch this but my husband noticed at one point in the song, he saw the DSO had all put on fedora hats. In no particular order, we heard them do “Cowboy/Lay it on me”, “You never met a motherfucker quite like me”, “Bawitdaba”, “Times like these”, “RnR Jesus”, “Picture” – just to name a few. And, my personal favorite of the night, and might I add for the very first time seeing it performed live, was “Rock on”. Bob sang it so beautifully. Marlon’s guitar solo cried out tenderly. He had asked everyone to sit for the song, which he mentioned, is something he had never done before, and that we would know when to stand back up again. Half way thru the song I had an abundance of tears fall down my cheeks. My hand rose to the ceiling as to hold God’s hand as I felt the song with all my heart. It was so touching and beautiful. That song is truly a masterpiece, you guys. I am so thankful I got to experience that. Wow!!
Later in the night, Geno and I had gotten the opportunity to personally thank Rock for this beautiful evening. It was quite an honor and a pleasure to meet him. He is truly an inspiration to us and an amazing gentleman. A thousand thanks to you Bob Ritchie for making this a dream come true. This has to be the best date night ever for my husband and I, and we will never forget this moment for the rest of our lives. It’s going down in history as the sweetest thing anybody has ever done for us.
Congratulations on raising one million dollars for the Detroit Symphony Orchestra.
We will forever LOVE the Kid Rock & the Twisted Brown Trucker Band.

@ RSMS..........yes, we are lucky bitches! I love it! My husband has even been known to say "well, you say bitch like it's a bad thing?" Got to love a guy like that! LOL!
Beckxy knew that the DSO show
Beckxy knew that the DSO show was a once in a lifetime event. That is why RSMS, KRCVAL worked so hard to get me there. I am glad they were diligent in getting me the tickets when I missed out on the presale. The time I spent with them before the show is not replaceable and the show well I cannot say it any better than Beckxy so I will leave it at that. Superb ! They are two of the best out there.
Thanks Cheryl!!!!
Thanks Cheryl!!!!
Amazing.. My heart is just
Amazing.. My heart is just filled with joy for you Beckxy and Geno. The song "Only God Knows Why" is not needed here II can tell you why. Yall have the biggest heart and you feel with your entire soul. Mr Ritchie is not blind and know good when he sees it. I feel like I was there with you. Thank you for sharing your story. I am so happy for you.
My audio and video is closer
My audio and video is closer for Rock On. My audio is great but the 4 characters to my left were up and down all night. Ruined the video. They missed 1/2 the show and it was all at different times. Angel, I will take care of this for you. You can hear the orchestra and to watch Stepanie turn around and watch the orchestra and smile is priceless.
Beckxy, I just have to ask..
Beckxy, I just have to ask...out of all the (up coming, not announced yet) shows, why this one?? I mean you could of picked a show ANYWHERE, why was this one so important TO YOU?? Hell if it was me I would of probably tried to push my luck and asked for the 2013 ctm cruise concert, I mean hell they did say they'd pay for EVERYTHING!!!!!! ....(lol)
Triple L Blessings
So awesome--thank you so much

Rock On Just Blew my Mind. Absolutely incredible. It has always spoken to me but Played with the DSO was just the most beautiful thing I've heard. OMG. i cant even imagine sitting there, hearing that live... Beck, I would have been bawling my eyes out right there with ya... Great to see kev and CJ posting. Miss you guys here..
Simply amazing...Bob is such
Simply amazing...Bob is such an inspiration to all...the more I learn of his kindness, the more I believe the world is not as bad as it seems...there are people that CARE! He is blessed to have the opportunity to CARE on a bigger scale than most of us here, but there are so many little things we can do. These little things add up and become something grand! Thank-you Beckxy for sharing your personal experience and thank you Bob for being the humble man you are and for never forgetting who you really are. As i listen to "Only God Knows Why" I can see how God has given Kid Rock the gift of music to do His work. Thank you for reminding me of why we all are here...to help and love and give and CARE! Beckxy, your words drifted deep into my soul, thank you for sharing.
How does one even begin to
How does one even begin to give many thanks to such a wonderful and talented man? First, make sure Andy Levine isn't anywhere near him!! ; }~ Juust kidding people, calm down.
WOW, Beckxy, what a great thing to experience!! I'm so happy for you and Geno -- I bet your perma-smiles will last a long while. No joke, this couldn't have happen to a nicer couple!
We seemed to be living parallel lives lately with our mothers being ill and the loss of income -- but, having our Kid Rock priorities, we were bound and determine to make the cruise happen again this year and did. I felt so bad when you said you guys didn't make it to the island. I was crushed by that, I don't know how you handled that so well. This experience may make up for that a bit I hope. ; ) And, darn, if our lives weren't exactly parallel on Friday when you got the call from, basically, the man himself -- WOWZER!!
Although, I got to enjoy a few KR shows lately, I can't help but be crushed that I didn't get to experience this unique KR show (and that gorgeous theater). I don't think the YouTube videos do it justice since I don't hear the orchestra as much as I'm sure it was heard at the venue. And, NO ONE captured Rock On on video?!! Ugh! But, I know you didn't hear Rock On at any of last year's concerts; so, what a great version to finally enjoy!!
Again, I'm so happy that you and Geno received such a special gift from the very artist that you respect and admire the most. The best date night ever is right!!
PS: I didn't know until I
PS: I didn't know until I read your story here, Beckxy, that he performed "Rock On". It's a song that I've personally related to on a very deep emotional level, of which those close to me, including you, will understand why. The first time I heard it I was preparing to leave behind, & move away from the home & life I'd known for 40 yrs.. Listening to "Rock On" helped me often to maintain inner strength with moving forward alone in life necessary for my survival. I'm glad to read he performed it live at the DSO Benefit concert...it's definitely an emotionally moving & inspirational song more than worthy of live performance. ♥
I don't come to the official
I don't come to the official site much these days, as the new format is complex & mind boggling for me, haha. Still, when something very important occurs related to Kid Rock friends among those I consider "family in heart"...I'll struggle around at the new website trying to find what I need to, hahaha. ♥ I found it, hahaha. :)
Beckxy...you wrote your memory story beautifully, as always. I felt your emotions through your words, as the man said many years ago, indeed, it's true, "if it's real, you'll feel it." ♥ As I said on Facebook the other day, in our KRAA family group, & Eye Candy Friday group as well...no Kid Rock & TBT fan deserves recognition & reward from the man himself, more than you & Geno. I've witnessed close up & from afar for a decade, many of the sacrifices & struggles you've endured, including those made to attend live shows & go on the cruises. Old skool or newer fan...there is none of us who can claim to be a more loyal fan of the man & his band, than you & Gene have been for more than a decade now. "you get what you put in, and people get what they deserve"....sometimes, & this is one of those times. ♥
Some of my most cherished Kid Rock/TBT related memories are times spent with you & Gene. The Bama show in 2005, I'll always remember your striking beauty, smile, & sweet angelic voice saying hello, that day you entered my hotel room, hahaha. Our KRAA membership memories of yesteryear, to most recent cruise memories of time spent together on the boat, well, they're all cherished memories I'll hold dear to my heart for the rest of my life. I love you both so very much, more than words can say. ♥
Oh, & I love our 'family in heart' bro, Kevin, (aka KEVROCK aka KEVROCKBAW) too, for life. I see many friends of yrs. in this dicussion who are in my heart always...y'all know who you are, you're family, & always will be, no matter where our life paths take us...we'll always be together in heart.
God Bless the man & his band, God Bless us all, our Kid Rockin family, always. ♥
I wouldn't mind an audio CD
I wouldn't mind an audio CD of the Comerica DVD we watched on the boat.... I ♥ Live Trucker...
Beautiful!!!
Beautiful!!!
I'm at work so this will be
I'm at work so this will be short. I really do not like doing video during one of Kids concerts. I try to do at least 2 from every show then have some fun. This was the exception as it was so different. I tried not to talk and ruin anything. Just the crazies who come to concerts and run up and down all night doing nothing bug me. Same ones over and over. Damn are you here to see the show or run all over hell. Then I always seem to get behind the kid who is 10 ft tall with a baseball cap on. The only real talking was when Kid announced that Beckxy was here and when he did Bawitdaba I stated 3 times oh my god, I just could not believe the sound from the orchestra with Kid doing old school.
I want to Thank you for such an amazing night. It was incredible. We need a DVD from a concert. Comerica 2009 or the DSO would be great then we could relive our experiences over and over again.
Super write up Beckxy. :) Love ya, Kid Rock sister

I have been watching the YouTube posts about the DSO concert. I heard Kid tell your story and say something about "Becky, hope you're having a good time" or something like that! Great story. He is a wonderful person and a talented muscian. I always stick up for Kid Rock when people talk about him and don't understand his heart. They just remember the trash from years ago. I am proud to be a Kid Rock fan and a Michigan native! I have even got my husband and 17 yr old son to be Kid Rock fans. From one generation to the next................
Wow.. just amazing you guys..
Wow.. just amazing you guys... I never thought I'd meet such an incredible amount of people all with huge hearts, and good values, who make the greatest friends in life. I wouldn't trade it for nothing in the world. Half your life.. and have to be damn proud of it. This is very very heartfelt and touching.

....WTG Bob for the heartfelt gesture to a long time, well deserving fan!!! WTG Kid Rock and the TBT for raising over 1 mil for the DSO!!!
I was sitting back Sunday,
I was sitting back Sunday, after seeing the show, seeing Beckx and Gene, and realized I have now spent half of my life as a Kid Rock fan. Yea, Half of my life. I have traveled the world, met people from almost every state, and , made friends I will never forget. I have had people ask me so many questions, asked me my opinions, and I have never really thought before I spoke, I just shouted out whatever it was I was thinking at the time.
I have really had to let the show from Saturday saturate, the amazing chain of events that led up to that show, and the realization that Bob had come from the heart and helped make another dream come true for 2 people I have known and seen all over the Country. I still have my TShirt from when Gene abd Beckx hosted a pre-party, I still have the memories of what can only be remembered as some of the best times of my life...
The DSO show was special. I was watching this man, and his band, most of which I have become friends with, playing in the Magical Fox Theater, with what's considered one of the best Symphony's in the world, and it was a breathtaking moment. Songs that I may have skipped over in the past, came to life. Purple Sky, and then Rock On just blew me out of my seat. I was sitting next to my best friend Paradime's Mother, and had to hide the tears starting to stream down my eyes. The whole event was above and beyond anything I could have ever expected 18 years ago when I heard this crazy honkey singing a song called "Wax that Booty"
Bob, Jason, Freddie, Stef, Larry, Dave, Shannon, Jess, Marlon, The Crew, Saturday was incredible, and the impact you all have made on the lives of so many is extraordinary. THANK YOU
Beckx and Geno, it was great seeing you guys, and it warms my heart that people DESERVING of such a great gesture, were able to receive it. God Bless you guys...
Kev
There's nothing but beauty in
There's nothing but beauty in this story. A beautiful man does a beautiful thing for beautiful people while raising money for a beautiful organization.
Some people wonder why we're so passionate about the man and the music that have brought us all together. This is a shining example.
Beckxy, I am so glad you and Gene got to experience such a treasured weekend. You spread joy wherever you are, and I'm happy to see some joy come back to you.
I love you girl. The story was well worth the wait.

As always Beckxy you have a beautiful way with words & your heart is evident when anyone reads them. I agree with you on everything regarding Kid Rock & would like to add a special thank you to him & the band for the way that their music has brought us all together. When we saw that this happened I just couldn't stop the tears of joy from flowing, I immediatley ran to the phone and called Scott screaming to him as if you guys had won the lottery. Then I called up some cruise friends and we commented back on forth on facebook while we all watched the video over and over again. We all cried for you together becuase we have all become so close...a family for sure. It felt like we were all right there with you guys and thanks to your story above we all were. Love you guys, Kid Rock & the Twisted Brown Truckers!
