Thanks OTB and your son
Thanks OTB and your son should be commended. It gives me hope for our future. I hope he knows that to be a leader sometimes means to stand alone. God bless.

RSMS-I just wanted to say I was so glad you posted this on 9-11 as you can tell I also gave my son's article to share. What happened to everyone writing in a thread like this-it was sad for me to see not more people wrote in here. I was down there myself and saw firsthand Ground Zero and never will forget any of it! :( My son too at school on 9-11 was the only person that went to the flag at the moment of silence and a couple of kids yelled out at him wondering what he was doing and he told them but no-one joined him, it greatly disappointed him! :(
Thank you for this thread and God bless and remembering and those of you who wrote in it!
Just thought I'd share my son
Just thought I'd share my son's newspaper opinion column with you on this thread (he just turned 15 in August):
Eleven years ago, the World Trade Center and the Pentagon were attacked, along with an attempt against the White House itself. September 11 changed the life of every American. It changed the way we live our lives and our world itself.
Eleven years ago a terrible thing happened. From that terrible thing, however, the United States were once again united in heart and soul. We understood again the importance of our fellow citizens, our communities, and of those sworn to serve and protect the American people.
Eleven years later, we continue to honor those that protect us and those whose’ lives were taken. Our former President George W. Bush designated Sept. 11 as Patriot Day so that we will always remember those on that day. That is exactly what we will be, patriots.
As patriots, it is our job to honor those who lived, those who died, and those who sacrificed themselves to be sure that the American flag continued and continues to fly. It is important to never forget and to always remember, not just what happened on that day, but also that we have a strong military protecting us; police, firefighters, and paramedics protecting and saving lives; that we have communities to live in; as well as that we are still Americans and how much we love this country.
I was granted the opportunity to visit both the Pentagon memorial in Washington, D.C., as well as the 9/11 memorial fountains at Ground Zero in New York City. They were both very emotional experiences. I was content to know that I got the chance to honor them in person and to see the reconstruction and to see firsthand that America united is like a phoenix rising once again.
Eleven years ago America itself was attacked. 11 years later, America is still standing. Always remember those, always remember our military, and always remember that you are an American.
God bless America!
Amen! Beautiful post.
Amen! Beautiful post.
your pain written on your
your pain written on your faces as you did what was called your job. above and beyond human
strength, a God from above saw it all. I'm sure that day their were tears cried in heaven. I am brought to my knees, whenever I think about that day and the many courageous Americans who faced such horror with dignity and strenght. I pray I may possess such honor, if I should be so tested. And I think too how our soldiers were called to duty, and responded with no less commitment to our country. and they still give... THANK-YOU. During my time in service I was not called upon, but without a doubt I was ready to accept the duty at hand. God Bless them, and help us all to cherish the freedoms we have. They are bought at the highest price.
