There's no reason to work for the man in this wonderful country of ours. Just met with my husbands , now my business partner to go over the details of the new company . He and my spouse ave been working on patents for sometime and he's has quite a few and other ventures and seeing how he has some free time now we decided upon our venture of passive income bringing in about 15 g a day to start. I'm gonna be busy doing the marketing portion since I have all the contacts until it gets going and off the ground and then well, fishing, writing a few songs.
I know right, lol I mean talk about 20 + years to hold on to the song, He didn't release it after he recorded it in 89 cause Rod did first. I don't have that box set you mentioned. So I never heard him play it. Even when I was typing the lyrics out (which I got some wrong btw lol) I wasn't hearing that (Rod's version.) It was the first couple notes that sounded familiar to me, never the lyrics- (They didn't sound like something I re-call hearing before) That made me think about what you said earlier. So I had to check it out. It was bothering me also.
So I emailed a friend with a link and then I get this funny-ass sarcastic message back.. lmao *winks* telling me what an idiot I am. hahahahaa. I can laugh at myself all day, everyday :))) Yet I learned some cool music history today. I read some cool articles also through out the day. Which is never a bad thing. I like Seger's version better too.
I just wonder sometimes, cause I believe from past stuff I have read/heard to be true, Seger has a lot of songs in the vault, (that he hasn't released) how many? don't know. Just wouldn't doubt that as being a true statement. So I wasn't thinking cover. He is a very interesting person in how he goes about things. Very unique! Always been one of my favorite musicians/artists.
So yeah T we ain't crazy, (Yet) We are just funny and real!!!
Here's a cpl articles, they pretty much say the same thing, but thought maybe ya might wanna take a look.

*I had no idea that Jeff Beck recorded it too and it ended up on Billboards top 10! I'm guessing this is the version I was familiar with, since I was pretty much over Stewart by 1989! lol
No problem, It was driving me nutso!!
I mean not to take away from Seger, but all of his songs do have a certain sound to them and I thought maybe I was just hearing that. (If that makes sense)
But then as you know, I just listened to it again like 5 times and new to many of the words on the second play...so that gave me credence to want to take it further! Its still a great song and I like his version so much better than Stewart's hands down!
Thanks for tracking it down!!!!
Bob Seger has released the first new song off his upcoming album. Downtown Train is a cover of Tom Waits 1985 version.
Bob Seger has sat on this song for more than two decades now. He recorded the song in early 1989, but was beaten to the punch by Rod Stewart. Stewart included his version of Downtown Train on his 89 box set, Storyteller The Complete Anthology: 1964-1990.

Haha OMG lmao I didn't realize this is a cover song. Rod Stewart, totally forgot about him. I was excited to see all the dates he Seger-had posted for his tour and then I saw this blog.
I can't stop laughing right now!!!! lol
I think it's the first couple chords, that made me think what you implied. I can't figure it out right now either. My head is work mode and just jumping back and forth between, making a Monday go a little easier. Let me know what you come up with.

Outside another yellow moon
has punched a hole in the night time yeah
I climbed from the window
and down to the street
hey and I'm, shining like a new diamond
Downtown trains are full
of all those Brooklyn girls
they try so hard to break out of their little worlds
and you wave your hand
and they scattter like fools
they have nothing that will ever capture your heart
their just thorns without the roots
Be careful of them in the Dark
Oh if I was the one
you chose to be your only one
only one
Can't you hear me now
Can't you hear me now?
Will I see you tonight on a downtown train...
where every night is just the same
Don't leave me lonely now
I know your window
and I know it's late
I know your stairs and your doorway
I walk past your street and by your gate
I stand by the light of the four way
You watch them all fall down
Baby they all have heart attacks
They stay at the corner
but their never win you back
Will I see you tonight
On a downtown train
where every night, every night, is just the same
Oh Baby yeah,
Will I see you tonight... on a downtown train
All those bad dreams just fall like rain
oh baby On a downtown train
Will I see you tonight ...on a downtown train
where every night is just the same
oh Baby
Will I see you tonight on a downtown train
oh all the bad dreams just fall like rain
Baby on a downtown train
Baby on a downtown train
On a downtown train
I like it A LOT also! Good Song! I think I got the words right. Check me if ya want. Not sure id corner is carnival??? I think it is so fun to type out the words while listening. Helps me type fast and I look back and see all my typos an laugh, then I just fill in and listen again til I think I got it.
