    Searching for Sugar Man

So i watched this not long ago. It is kind of profound. Oddly it is how most artists spend their life. There are only so many Lady GaGa's, Kid Rock's, Hank's, Madonna's...hmm well you get the picture. Most artists live in obscurity.

He seems like a very humble, generous man. I will probably now seek out his music. I am kind of curious where all the money from the record company went? Sounds like Rodriquez didn't see any of it....Same old thing as the record company's always do. Steal from their artists. Shame too. Someone that is a good artist could make more albums and perhaps break through if they didn't get ripped off.

In days of old record company's developed artists, supported them, sent them out with other bands that would help them get exposure etc. That doesn't happen much nowadays and sounds like it didn't happen like it should have for Rodriquez either. Now you really can't do much on the selling records end. Not many artists sell many records and that is the cold fact.

Anyway if you haven't seen it and have a true love for music i suggest you seek it out....He seems to me like a street poet who got lost in the dark only to find the spotlight when his time in the sun was nearly over. But @ least he did get recognized for his talent...if only in South Africa....

Haven't yet. Starting to get a bit nervous. Thanks to those who have wished me well and been supportive. KEEP PRAYING FOR ME! It is exciting and scary RJL. I will let folks here know after i take them and hopefully pass them! I am not sure when that will be and when i do know gonna keep it to myself because i don't need the added stress of ppl knowing the actual date. THEN you get did you pass them? Makes me that much more nervous and scared. I don't need that on me, i got enough on me. Hope you guys understand that!

ANYWAY Searching for Sugar Man is worth watching. He is a different kind of cat. Something rare and you don't expect that is for sure! Ready to see if they win some awards and more light gets shed on this film and man. Would be cool if it would!

Got his tunes now too. Very good i must say. Dylan ain't got shit on the Sugar Man/Rodriguez....SAD really & everyone touts Dylan as some type of i dunno prophet or something. While true artist, the best of their ilk set on the sidelines and watch...Ain't that the way of it? It doesn't always have to do with talent. Many things play in. Timing, fate, chance, $ backing, record labels, and unfortunately for Sugar Man i think his skin tone played in....WHICH IS HORSESHIT TO THE MAX!!! The old black bluesman ring in my head every time i hear or read about artists getting screwed. That is why CHUCK BERRRY says pay me first in cash, i put it in my car then i play for you! He got ripped off one too many times.

Rodriguez is a bird of a different feather though. I think he is even more prophet then most. HE gives the money away. Toils away @ hard manual labor jobs, lives in poverty looking type of situation. Instilled in his children to read and seek out art. He fed their mind as well as their body. And not junk food...I admire this man if you can't tell....AND HUMBLE when finally being given the spotlight!

Hopefully it will win i been out of the loop for awhile movie wise. Soon i will truly play catch up. Appears as though i missed a few good movies while they were playing @ the movie theaters. Oddly if it wins there will be more of a spotlight on Rodriguez and that may very well be a good thing.
