ok, you guys had me all convinced that it was Dwayne Wayne, so I was just about to check it. but I'm still not sure that it adds up. Dwayne Wayne was a character in "A different World" which was a spin off of the Cosby Show (not What's Happening). He was a college student, a math major no less.
These were old TV shows, too. RNRJ came out in late 2007... lets assume he wrote these songs in 2005-2007. these TV shows were from the 80s. why would he reference an old and fairly dead pop culture TV show?
on the other hand, Dwyane Wade is a very successful basketball player. He's from Chicago, drafted in 2003. 2006 he won the both the Sports Illustrated Sportsman of the Year award and the NBA MVP finals award. He was on the all-star team 7 seasons straight.
so, I dunno. I can't hear it clearly, he could be saying either. Imma put it on my "uber" list of unanswered questions to try and get someone who knows to answer. and for the moment I'm leaving it as Wade.

I always thought it was Dwayne Wade, but I think it makes more sense that's Dwayne Wayne with the "what's happening" and plus Dwayne Wade probably wasn't even a big name when Rock wrote this tune.

My take on why the cd lyrics may be different than what we are hearing, Is imo Kid Rock loves his studio lol and messing with tracks and builds upon what he already has after other materials have been sent off for production,
He never claimed to spell the best, and maybe he is using the words as an annuciation and flows better, As far as Dwayne Wade, maybe as a rhyme lyrist he call's him Dwayne Wayne. Who Knows? lol
