I drive a Chevrolet Baby!!!!!! It's all ways been Chevy or GMC for me.

Need more people with this attitude. Or a government that taxes people extra for buying foreign cars.

Ms. Elin, once again KevR, you have amazed me with some insight. It is almost like America or the people in our great nation have been living beyond there means for some time as you know. I have been trying to say this for a while now
and all I get is laughs an people say that I am crazy or something. That's why I all ways say that people should be diverse in all ideas and if possible have some sort of back up plan. You see GM and Dodge have had to take a bail out plan to try and bring them back up. This could possibly be for a few more reasons other than yours. Okay, like reasons being the job market, with other cars manufacture's over seas, or other brands i.e. Toy. Niss. and so forth.
But also, we I'm saddened to see factories in the Detroit area with weeds growing up in the sidewalks and the cracks of these manufacture facilities if you feel me.

Ms. Elin has more insight now on a grander scale, thanks KevRock

Workers were laid off because companies could not afford to pay many of their outrageous salaries. This comes from many different reasons, 1) People who buy foreign cars 2) American Car Companies not being able to adjust to the high gas proces a few years ago 3) no longer a need for many of these workers.

Listen, I am sympathetic as anyone, I too lost my job with Ford Motor Company. A Company I served for 14 years. However, The economy and everything else blamed was also an excuse to rid themselves of some of the employees who quite frankly were not needed. They were able to hire people in the replace them at half the wage (14 bucks an hour) and are now starting to show the road to recovery.

The most unfortunate part, is most of the plant workers are no

The most unfortunate part, is most of the plant workers are not very educated and have no where to turn. It's hard to be 40 plus years old, and not have any skills beyond that of screwing on a lug nut. Its horrible that many of these men and women were able to feed, shelter, and clothe families while also enjoying some of the luxuries of life only to have it all taken away. There is no fix. Each individual needs to look at themselves and find a way to escape the hell they are in.

The most important word in this post is REGRETS. Some of the people who have lost their jobs should regret their piss poor work ethic.
