Thought we might could build the mood... :)
The Battle of New Orleans witnessed the young Andrew Jackson successfully cobble together a motley (Redneck Paradise) crew of local militia, free blacks, US Army regulars, Kentucky riflemen, & local privateers to decisively defeat 11,000 British soldiers. The Battle of New Orleans was during the last campaign of the War of 1812, which was a 32-month military conflict between the US & the British Empire & their Indian allies.
The US declared war in 1812 for several reasons, including trade restrictions brought about by Britain's ongoing war with France, the impressment of American merchant sailors into the Royal Navy, British support of American Indian tribes against American expansion, & outrage over insults to national honor after humiliations on the high seas.
The Battle of New Orleans took place January 8, 1815; the armies were unaware the Treaty of Ghent had already ended the war on December 24, 1814. (wow?!?)
All this thinking ‘bout New Orleans had a little ditty I used to sing a lot with my dad pop into my you know me crazy head so … www.youtube.com/watch?v=50_iRIcxsz0 :)
And the courageous, noble, freedom fighting, stand up and speak up for what you believe in rebel souls dedicated so passionately to belief in Our Country, they brought it…they rocked it…in a Battle that mattered when all others believed the war was over.
I believe Roll On peace and love matter, in every moment of our lives regardless of how others may try to dissuade...I believe Roll On peace and love really matter.

I almost bought a couple of plane tickets and went but my hubby couldn't get off and my sons been busy. Sure wish he would drop by Dallas , or even FW for that matter. I like the Dallas venue better.
