    my son a marine!!!
    Rosaria says (24 Aug '09)

Well I had a surprise the other day. I came home and there was a Marine recruiting officer sitting at my table!! I knew my son wanted to join the Army so this threw me for a loop. I asked what brought this on. He said all my friends are joining the Army, yes they are giving good bonuses but I want to be different. I think the Marines is more prestigious. So tomorrow he goes for overnight and Mon is ASVAB & physical.... I wish my boy all the luck and love in the world. People think I'm crazy for being happy. What do you think?

Thanks MWG... That's funny, I had the don't get married conversation with him already...I also told him once he get his station beware of local girls.. they like to latch on to military to get them out of where they are... Use those rubbers boy!!!!!! lmao.. He's so excited.. he wishes it werent so long until boot camp... and thanks for the web site...

Congratulations to the new recruit and his Momma!!

He will be better off signing up early and learning a few things ahead of time....along with the conditioning...will help him once he begins bootcamp.
Myself, I liked the fact that my son HAD to stay out of trouble his senior year. I didn't have to harp on him because the recruiter did it for me. :) Now, just tell him to stay single....my son is married and wishes he has waited. It is really hard to leave a wife home alone all the time!

If you want to do some reading about Marines go to: http://www.grunt.com/scuttlebutt/newsarchives/index.asp
They also sell Marine items....but they are so much cheaper on base!

Congrats & Hugz Rosaria~MWG

OK EVERYONE...MY SON WAS SWORN IN AS A UNITED STATES MARINE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HIS ASS IS THEIRS..LOL....I CANT BELIEVE IT.. I AM SO PROUD OF HIM...HE MADE A DECISION AND TOOK CONTROL OF IT AND HAS DONE IT....WOW!!!! MY LITTLE BOY IS GROWING UP...I'M GONNA CRY NOW....

Rosaria's picture

Thank you Heba.... And Yes they get exposed to shit we never heard of... Its a chance you have to take I guess...

MidWesternGirl_2's picture

I'm not sure.....he has done two tours to Iraq & has always been included in the VFW shipments from a couple different towns. You wouldn't believe how many of our military get NOTHING while they are deployed! It's so sad. Sometimes Jared would give boxes to other guys...he always shared his anyway...but he said they were so excited to get "their own" box!
My son is horrible at writing back to anyone. I think it's easier to "ignore" the rest of the world while you are in that hellish place.
Thank you for doing what you do!!

heba that is the same thing i was thinking i just didnt have any facts to back it
i worry about that alot

Rosaria, if your son gets accepted into the Marines, please tell him thank you for me. We need strong, balanced, smart men and women to serve these days and what a respected career.

I respect soldiers in every way, shape and form. They are all heroes, willing to sacrifice thier lives for freedom. My father was a very proud soldier! He served in the Army for many years and then went on to the Reserves. He was also a Korean War veteran. He was a tank operator when serving the war and a Nuclear Weapons Inspector for the Reserves.

My only concern these days with our unselfish soldiers is that our government is harming them with all the warfare techniques they use these days. The soldiers have no idea it is happening to them. It's been known that our gov't and Englands gov't released Sulpher Dioxide into the clouds over the HoChiMan Trail during Vietnam to create monsoon like weather to confuse the Vietnamese. That was 30yrs ago, imagine what they use these days. Has anyone seen Thats Impossible Weather Warfare on the History Channel? Our govt' is conducting experiments with controlling the weather through their HAARP programs all over the world. From hurricanes and earthquakes to figuring out how to make lightning strike other militaries tanks/planes, etc. They have even figured out a way to bend light so they can try to make their weapons and machinery seem invisible. Welcome to the Future, huh?

Our soldiers get caught up in the midst of this and I'm afraid exposed to so many harmful and deadly things.

MidwesternGirl, Did your son sign up for the 'soldiersangels' program? Any soldier is eligable, and he would get a nice care pkgfrom a sponsor
I always tell the soldiers i sponser not to feel obligated to write, or contact me..just get through your deployment in one piece!.

MWG, I told John about your son... He said he hopes to get a chance to meet him... Even he can't believe what a small world this is.. Oh and here we go with the red tape mumbo jumbo...
The recruiter called Sun. and told John that the custody paper I gave him was not an original...Well duh... The original is at the court house...They mail you a copy... and of course I can not find any of our birth certificates .... Why is it that when your looking for something and you know where you keep it...ITS NOT THERE????.... but when your looking for something else what you were looking for prior is right where you thought it was????..... I don't get it......So needless to say.. he did not go yesterday for his ASVAB & physical.. He should be going toward the end of the week.. if nothing else pops up....

Rosaria's picture

Thanks Bobbie Jean... I have told John that my KRC family is supporting him 1000%...He appreciates it.....

Naw, I don't think I'd be bothering the CO or Pres. Unless it was absolutely necessary... My ex was stuck in the Gulf on the USS Carl Vinson when he was in the Navy...a six month cruse turned into nine months.. It was hairy but I kept in touch with the CO's wife. They are very informative...

Or say they thought they were sneaky....Tangie.... I always found my ex.... lmao...

Gorillawoman's picture

I don't think you are crazy I think your a great Mom. I think we are suppose to support our kids ideas no matter what they are or if we agree with them or not. I mean to some degree, mine have wanted to do some things and I say tell me when it is over but be careful and have fun. I have dare devil young men. I agree I support all the branches of the military but those Marines in full dress are almost as good as Sailors in dixie cups lol. Sempri Fi Rosaria, keep up the good work!!

ANGELIQUE LACRISSA's picture

i think he is a braVE YOUng man who is giving the ultimate sacrifice
i always used to say i hope my son never joins the service because i was afraid to lose him
but after sept 11 my outlook changed
man i just dont know about obama
i pray he does rite by our country but so far he seems to b raping it
your boy will stay in my prayers and u r a good mommy for backing his decision
im happy if your happy

Rosaria's picture

Thanks Brenda and BSS. I am very proud and will pass on the thanks...

Rosaria's picture

No Tangie he has no wife, no kids (Thank God) He doesn't even have a steady girlfriend.. Which makes me happy too... I think he should wait for all that... I tell him all the time.. Live your life.. not someone else's ..Once you have lived and learned..then think about settling down and tying yourself down, not before. His father my ex was in the Navy for a couple of years and I know what you mean about "working" He even did that shit before and after the Navy... All those trips to bars... I did however learn very good detective skills from that... lol.....

Rosaria's picture

Wouldn't that be something if your son, meets my son....It truly is a small world! I'm guessing that your son is a Happy Marine... 6yrs. thats great... Why did your son want to join the Marines? I'm a little nervous that he's going this afternoon with the recruiter to Albany NY to stay over night and tomorrow is going to be a busy day for my boy.. I hope he does well. I know he will do well on the ASVAB.. My son is a sponge and never forgets anything he hears, sees or reads.. He scored an 80 on the practice test he did here at the house. The recruiter was like.. The average a boy his age gets is a 48.. His eyes were buggin out of his head..lol... I just hope he gets a good score like that tomorrow so his choices of work will be toward what he wants.... Oh and believe me I wouldn't miss graduation if I had to start walking there a month before...lol....

I think it's really just fear. People are afraid for those that they care for.

I certainly thank him for his chosen service on behalf of all Americans. Wish him the best of luck in training.

That's where my son is. I got the "inside" tour of Parris Island while I was there in April. Beautiful country there!
I believe Jared will still be there when your son makes himself into "the few, the proud" I hope they get to meet each other when the time comes! That would be totally cool. Save your money mom....ya gotta go to the graduation. It is unlike anything you've ever seen! When the time comes my son lives next to a home that is rented out to new recruit's families for graduation. You would have the ultimate protection while in town! :o) Give my son a few beers and he will talk your leg off. lol I'll post a photo of him as soon as I find a good one.
Gotta keep in touch future Marine Mom!!
Hugz form this Marine Mom.

PS: They say the only thing tougher than a Marine....is a Marine's Mom. lol

Rosaria's picture

I am very proud of him and I told him so.. He made a decision and went for it.. He's a good kid..Just a little lazy and that is what I can't wait for..lol.. boot camp!!!! thought you had it bad at home..Hahaahahaa.. too funny!!!

Rosaria's picture

Thanks.... I don't understand why people are freakin out.... Even my brother who's daughter is in the Air Force...
I don't get it.. People say not now its war time... Ah, when is it not going to be war time. Plus he figures college will be paid for and he won't have to put that burden on me..Isn't he sweet!!!!!... I am surprised however that he chose the Marines... I mean his best friend Nate is going into the Army after graduation . I don't care. As long as he is happy.. Plus. I think I rather have him in any of the military branches than on a campus let loose for the first time..lol... My son is very intelligent but he lacks just a bit of discipline that will finish his character and turn him into a good man. I get so paranoid cause his Dad is a piece of shit.. I just don't want him to turn out that way.

Rosaria's picture

AMEN! Eva....

Rosaria's picture

Oh that's wonderful that your son is a Marine.. He will do Parris Island but not until next year. He is going into his senior year of high school.

Mz J's picture

Rosaria, congratulations! That is awesome. I think you should be happy as well. In these times, it takes a special person to make a stand like this knowing full well what it might entail. You raised a strong, independent young man. That is something to be proud of. Tell your son I wish him well in his new, prestigious life! We here at KRC know what it means to want to be different, lol! Well done to you both.
