The Sun is out, no sign of rain even peeking
The brew is flowing, and the food is grilling
Got an award show today, and we are top billing
I think time after time we take certain things for granted
or maybe our ideals are off, or our views are slanted
but really, oh really I plead with all of you today
to give a minute to look back and helped make it this way
The service men and women who have given their lives
The families that have lost brothers, mothers, husbands and wives
Yes its often overlooked, but I think that it is time we change
Bring your family and friends together and just take a second to pray
If praying is not your thing, there are some songs you can sing
God Bless America, The Star Spangled Banner, Let Freedom ring
On the real, God Bless all who have given their lives to keep this country free. God Bless the families who have lost loved ones, God Bless anyone who has lost a friend. These men and women put their lives on the line daily for us, doing missions, serving this country in ways we can not even imagine. I have lost 2 friends to war, and I hold a glass up everytime I am out celebrating.

this has nothing to do with anything, really, but thinking of pictures of octopus' (octopi?), made me think of an old Japanese woodcut print (Ukiyoe) from the 18th century.
