Saw in my local paper that a 3 part documentary is being aired on 8/4 at 8PM on the green channel. It's called Detroit in Overdrive, it's about efforts to bring this city back by individuals. Bad Ass beer is being featured in the 1st show, not sure if he is in it but just thought I'd let peeps know. The green channel on our Comcast is channel 113.
On another possible show w/ KR is the college basketball game between MSU and NC. They are playing on an aircraft carrier in San Diego on Veterans Day 11/11/11. It is only for military and 750 tkts will be given to each school, but I'm sure alumni will get those. ESPN will air the game and they are alloting 40 minutes for a halftime show. They have approached Kid Rock, Lady Antebellum, Kenny Chesney, Jimmy Buffet, and the Eagles, to do the halftime show. Have no idea if it will happen but we can hope, after all it is our military. Anyway happy hump day tomorrow!!
Just a reminder, Detroit in Overdrive in on tonight at 8PM on the Green Channel.
She was a beautiful person RSMS, thanks : )
BECKXY: sorry about Kim, too.
Ahh.. that was very nice of you to contribute to her funeral fund without even knowing her.. yet again.. good people.. then again I tend to think that the majority of the Kid Rock fanbase are good people : ) She will be very missed
I've never heard of those towns in Pa.. then again.. Pa's a pretty big state. We are based on the eastern side.. in-between the Poconos and Philadelphia. I've been to the other side of the State in Pittsburgh only once in my life.. lol and of course that was because there was a Kid Rock show there..haha I'd like to visit Erie sometime, as I've never been there. Love to travel and see the different places.. cept we are gonna be toning it down for awhile ~economy~ : (
Thanks for the chat : )
Beckxy, I know you live in PA. My husbands Father's entire family is from PA, Peckville, Achibald, Olyphant, we have had incredibly fun family reunions there. I love your State. Thank you for the compliments to our state, Love how the rest of the country forgets what the 'rust belt' did for freedom! I never met Kim, but we did contribute to her funeral fund, Sorry you lost a good friend.
KRLO.. no maam, I'm not, and sadly I can't share in that common bond with people who are. However, I have met some of my greatest friends, thru the years, on some of the Kid Rock websites that are. Back in 2004, on our first trip to Detroit to see the Paradime's '11 Steps Down' cd release party.. there was this charming and kind-hearted girl name Kim aka 'Snapples' who welcomed us to your great State of Michigan with open arms. She and a few of her buddies and us became closer.. as we would end of making more trips.. and hanging out with them in their homes. Then I met even more from Michigan.. all had BIG hearts.. kind gentle souls. Told me a lot about the kind of people that generated from this awesome place : )
I take a huge interest in your State's recovery because she is, imo, the heartland of America.. without her thriving.. the whole country bares great loss. She's massive and enriched in history.. full of blue collar workers and farmers.. quite like the State that I live in. And, then the Steel Mills.. my and your State are known for our vast production... and sadly most are all gone. We've been up to the Boyne Mountain area... what beautiful country it is up there. I've always had an interest in the history and geography of our country.. but Michigan.. must be something in the water up there.. your will, kind hearts, and passionate LOVE for your hometown surpasses any place that I've ever visited. For that I have to admire the people of your State. God Bless
RSMS and Sparty, I lived in West Holden for 2 years and a duplex on Stoddard and Albert the last 2 years. Good times...
Went back with my old roomie a year ago and toured Holden (completely re-done of course), had a topopo salad and cuervo gold margarita at El Az, and some of Bell's pizza. Had dinner at Beggar's Banquet-not as good as I remembered but oh well. Spent a fortune at SBS.
I did enjoy all of the good restaurants in Ann Arbor--a little dive called La Pinata, Steve's Lunch, Seafood Co.,
Ashley's for a good beer selection. I guess it sounds like all I do is eat and drink--ha ha pretty close to it!
Beckxy, are you originally from Michigan? If not, glad someone from out of the state has an interest in our state's recovery. Michigan is a great state, we were just up north, bought a great hoodie, it said 'Lake Michigan Unsalted!' How cool is that?
RSMS, I hate that Rich Rod was fired. He was the best coach um ever had! Hoke is a joke... , Just Kidding, he recruited a very good bunch of fresman. UGH. GO GREEN
Thanks for bringing this up, KRLO : ) I saw an add in our newspaper here in PA and really wanted to watch this program.. and I would of forgotten about it til then.
ha ha KRCVAL, I'm betting you loved Rich Rod and were sad to see him go
RSMS, the only day I don't like maize and blue is that beautiful fall day in October and the 2 days in winter when they play basketball against my green and white, and they smoked us last year! UGH. I love the commercial where the victors fight song is played very softly and it shows recovering UM Hospital patients. Very well done commercial.
KRCVAL So funny your other half is a Wolverine, my whole family are maize and blue, I am the only Spartan. Oh well it has been fun the past three years in football anyways. Basketball sucked.
Go Blue! Can we still be friends? Actually, I went to State for 2 years and Michigan for 2 1/2. Met great people at both schools. Lived in Brody (Bailey) and Wilson.
He he I understand completely, I'm a Spartan too (BS'83)--the BS kinda fits I guess :)
Unfortunately my other half is a Wolverine (I forgive him, lol)
KRCVAL No problem calling me Sparty, If my toe gets stubbed, I would bleed green, not red and definitely not blue!
Thanks for the info, KRLO (can I just call you Sparty? lol) I'll look for those.
