Wow, Bec, sounds like your little friend is angelic !!!! And Tammy and Just, I see you 3 were shaking the earth a little while I was sleeping :))) Your thoughtfulness is SHINING !!!! It only takes one, right? These kids will remember anything you do or give them that makes their hearts even a little bit lighter. Something that they can do or have that reminds them of how much anyone, cares. I love all the suggestions and ideas. It is the thought that counts more than the gift itself. Because they'll KNOW YOU CARE!!! Kids are smart that way~ they know Love when they feel it. Thank you for putting all this on here, or I would have missed this LOVIN :))))))) "Thank God for Sunday's !!" and for YOU CATS !!!!!! BLESS-UP for CHRISTMAS EVERYONE :)))))

Hey Beckxy, Very nice indeed. Bet you enjoy the experience as much as they will. How about a football or basketball, or movie passes. Merry Christmas!

hi Beckxy, such a nice thing you are doing for this family, 15 huh? maybe he'd like a colonge set, or perhaps a shaving set, a mens grooming kit, or a watch..hope that helps some..Good Luck, they are all so different at that age, it makes it hard to get them something that they need or want..but as the saying goes it's the thought that counts....

Triple L Blessings

Thanks D.. gosh.. I wish I could take a picture of this kid.. she's so very very cute. She's three yrs old.. has velvet smooth dark skin... blue-ish green eyes.. and a huge curly thick mop style hair with golden highlights. Her hair reminds me of how Will Smith's baby boy 'whose not such a baby anymore' looked... all big and curly. She was in the office with me the other day and as she likes to play 'the desk clerk'... and she was putting on cherry chapstick on her eyelids.. I was like.. what u doing now..lol. She's like.. getting my makeup on..haha. Um.. can ya tell, I'm totally missing a child of my own in my life ; /

But Anyway.. this family's been here for a good few months.. she has a 15 yr old brother.. and then mom and dad. Im gonna try and get them a grocery gift certificate and a card.. and I gotta get the lil girl a lil something. Trying to figure out what to get the 15 yr old boy, whom I never met. Any suggestions?

Wow Bec, I recall what you said on G's thread. Sorry to hear, and you are right. And so is Rock, Caring is one thing ... Showing you Care, Makes the Difference!!!, Thank you for sharring !!!

also just to add a quick note...
if you are looking to 'get ur good on'... it's not too late to volunteer at the homeless shelters, soup kitchens, and food banks around your area that need help.. all year 'round. Check out you local hotels, I work for one who has 5 homeless families staying b/c they can't come up with enough money for rent and one month's security deposit to start over again. In fact, one of them told me the story of a deadbeat landlord who didn't pay their taxes.. and because of that, they are now stuck up in a hotel room until tax season time. People need help.. Spread your love !!

the deadline for Holiday for Heroes was unfortunately Dec 9th. And Walter Reed was closed over the summer, so those address are no longer valid either.

Check out www.anysoldier.com for other ways to send packages to the military. Also, https://www.operationhomefront.net can always use donations!

@TXGIRL ~ I may not be the one to answer this, imho, The sooner, the better but even if there is a delay of sorts, I'm pretty sure that any mail they receive between Christmas and New Years would be considered 'Holiday Wishes' ?? It's Awesome that you are considering having your students participate, How Thoughtful !! and Inspiring !!~ God Bless you, your students, and the hearts you touch :))
MERRY CHRISTMAS :))

Txgirl_2's picture

Is there a way to know a cut off date for this? I can get my students to make cards in the morning and get them sent off if it's not too late.

Margo, You Really have a heart, I see it every time you post ~ A year or two ago, Zac Brown Band had something like this on CMT, I learned then, The impact of sending a 'letter' to brighten a soldier's Holiday Season...and Guess who influenced my involvement ....Yep, you got it .....Mr. Rock :) God Bless you and those who receive your cards :) I'm sending ours out tomorrow :) Enjoy tonight !! :)

I will share this post on my personal and business pages for Facebook & Twitter. I think this is great to send Christmas cards to the soldiers. Thanks Chrissy & Michelle for the idea and addresses. God Bless :)

D4evr's picture

Michelle (per Rock's "Great Post " Thread)
Here are a couple other addresses circulating to send Christmas Wishes to our Soldiers.
1. A Recovering American Soldier, c/o Walter Reed Army Medical Center, 6900 Georgia Avenue, NW Washington, DC 20307-5001.
2. A Recovering American Soldier c/o Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, 8901 Rockville Pike, Bethesda, MD 20889-5600
.....If we pass these addresses on and everyone sends one card, think of how many cards these wonderful, special people, who have sacrificed so much would get
