Everyone’s a critic, but some are a little more harsh than others. Still, that doesn’t mean an artist has to sit back and take it and Kid Rock had a few notes after receiving a fairly poor review of his Palm Beach show Dec. 30.

The review, which ran in the Broward-Palm Beach New Times, began with sub-heading “Better Than: ‘Jock James: Volume 5′ before launching into a particularly harsh review that opened with, “It has been said that a jack-of-all-trades is a master of none. However, while someone like Dave Grohl feeds his children by disproving the aforementioned statement, Kid Rock has managed to spin a career out of what boils down to on-stage vivisections of the term.”

While the writer offered up some objectivity, stating that Rock high-energy performance was professional and that his band consisted of top caliber players, he also commented, “Kid Rock’s songs simply are not very good.” He added, “The curious thing is that, despite it being fairly common knowledge that Kid Rock totally sucks, there was a full audience — with a minimum ticket price in the range of $60.”

In response, Rock provided his own critique of the poor review. In a posting at his website, he called the critic “the biggest hater, jackass, miserable p—- critic on Earth.” He went on to add, “He is such a miserable p—- it makes me laugh to read how much he or she hates me, but has to admit everyone had a blast! He probably really enjoys Radiohead shows!! Haha. I bet if you ask anyone who was at the show, a good time was had by all!”

Rock also added, “Happy New Year to all, and yes, ‘Let’s get s— faced!’ (I know this critic fails to believe that’s what most folks do on New Years!! IDIOT!). Hahaha. He is exactly the type of a–hole me and Sean Penn were making fun of in ‘Americans.’”

PAY ATTENTION TO THIS STATEMENT -------- THE CURIOUS THING IS THAT, DESPITE IT BEING FAIRLY COMMON KNOWLEDGE THAT KID ROCK TOTALLY SUCKS, THERE WAS A FULL AUDIENCE - WITH A MINIMUM TICKET PRICE IN THE RANGE OF $60"

WHOSE 'COMMON KNOWLEDGE' ARE YOU REFERRING TO? THE FULL AUDIENCE WHO PAID MONEY TO EXPERIENCE THE MOST AWESOME PERFORMER TO EVER ROCK OUR (YOU KNOW, US 'STUPID PEOPLE'S) WORLD. I FEEL SORRY FOR ANYONE WHO DOESN'T APPRECIATE REALNESS THAT REACHES DEEP INTO THE HEARTS OF HIS ADORING FANS ( YOU KNOW US STUPID FOLKS WHO WOULD GLADLY SPEND $60 AND MORE (IVE PAID $500 FOR 2 TICKETS) BEST MONEY I'VE EVER SPENT AND WILL DO IT AGAIN AND AGAIN. SO IF I'M ONE OF THE THOUSANDS AND THOUSANDS OF COMMITTED FANS WHO IS STUPID ENOUGH TO SPEND MY (YES MY MONEY) ALONG WITH FULL AUDIENCES EVERYWHERE TO LISTEN TO AN ARTIST "WHO SUCKS', THEN I GUESS IM JUST AN IDIOT, BUT IM A DAMN HAPPY ONE

I;m sure its just me but when Rock stops standing up and telling the haters to go fuck themselves, thats when I will wonder if he lost his American Badass status..lol

Losing your temper, being abusive, and not using discretion in a fame based industy is also a sign of other things, immaturity being the first thing that comes to mind. Could see it if the reaction and reporting was from Pollstar or Rolling Stone. But Florida? Bad Ass is great when you are twenty, but he's in his forties....and hopefully smarter and better advised by his management team. Or contained. Sure as hell wish they would put up a new news article quick.

The douchecanoe critic used his platform as a music critic to slam Rock for supporting Romney... Fuck him!!!!!

Has anyone read any DetNews, Freep, Mlive article yet about KR to date and have not seen negative comments? It's been going on for years. One article, about him, having an association w/ Pulte to build and pay for a home for a Veteran and his family for free, drew horrid comments. these peeps are trolls, they post on every subject, every day and pretty sure they have no job and live in their parents basement, are all losers and I could care less what they say. And no I don't like everything he does. If you do you are a slappie, who wants to be a slappie, and drink the Koolaid. Kid Rock sometimes may miss the toilet.

no Missing the toilet I would Hope he if he did would know that a nice wad of toilet paper would wipe that UP..gosh women ever sat on a toilet seat that a man has went to town on in the middle of the night I tell ya that gets me just wild.

Every place will have it's haters. EVEN a hometown boy is gonna have a few ppl that just don't like him for whatever reason. That is part of the "celebrity" beast. IT comes with the territory. You can't be "pimp" of the nation without having a few pissed off hoes!

Just remember that it was Florida that created the hanging chads fiasco. 'Nuff said.

I read the review of the show and it was pretty brutal. Kid might have done himself a bit better by not responding. I think that is kind of what the reviewer probably wanted for some reason. But Kid is human and when someone takes a pretty good and deep dig @ you it is hard not to say something back. I don't know if i could hold my tongue either....

There will always be those who don't like you for whatever reason. SOME have no reason they are just haters. Whether it is due to jealousy/envy or whatever...It is best not to feed the bears is how i would describe it. As in not respond. If they get ZERO response from you they have nothing to feed on etc. And they won't keep coming back. I have also learned you gotta take the good with the. Many here pat KID on the back constantly, not very many are harsh. Some here have rosey tinted KID ROCK glasses and see no other way. ME personally i like him and his music, but i am not blind. I try to stay totally objective....i see ppls weakness etc. Difference is a big one...that doesn't mean i here to sling mud. I just am a music lover, Kid happens to be some of the music i love. I could pick out songs i don't particularly like or the ones i do really enjoy by Kid but there is no point in that.

POINT is you gotta take everything with a grain of salt. The good and the bad. There will always be those who love you or hate. And some of the haters unfortunately have a pen in their hands and the means to spew their hate for others to read about it. I have seen great reviews of Kid as well and many of them. YET i haven't seen KID respond to them....Kid if he reads this might think about it all a bit. Just a little free advice...
