How many ppl here protect their home?

Just curious. Lately i guess with Christmas coming there has been a lot of stealing going on even in my small neck of the woods. I don't keep much outside. I guess i would be pissed if they stole my BBQ grill or my old bike i haven't rode in years that is chained up to my car port. So far the theifs haven't broke in and harmed anyone. But who knows ya know??? When ppl get desperate they do desperate things...

I am weighing the option of buying a handgun to protect my home. Have asked advice from different folks who claim they have numerous guns. I keep getting the answer of a 38 or something along those lines. I guess because i am a female and haven't shot many guns. I shot a glock 17 years ago @ my sisters place. I got within 6 inches of the target and didn't realize you aim with the trigger not the top of the barrel. I figure i got good aim as i pitched softball for more years then i care to remember.

Anybody else here in the same boat? I never thought the day would come when i would consider buying a gun to protect me and my home in the sticks...

I have several dogs in my house that act as 'burglar alarms'..we have guns also, and a gun safe. I live in the sticks as well...lots of car breakins at parking lots around here right now. People in our neighborhood all watch out for each other, so if we see something suspicious, we are on the phone or calling the cops. And it is never a good idea to go shopping at night if you can help it.

you have to do whatever it takes to make you feel safe.. and you have the RIGHT to protect yourself, family and home..If your not comfortable with a gun maybe an alarm system, or maybe even start with pepper spray, or a tazer that way your somewhat protected wherever you go...and if all else fails grab the cast iron pan and aim for their head, face and then right between the legs..

Most robbers do not want to see you. Long ago, a police captain advised a bunch of us women reeling from a string of robberies in the area to turn on a TV and never turn it off. The bluish light let folks know someone was present and awake. Never have had another robbery.

All I know is my "gun nut of a husband" wants to get me a ladies Smith & Wessom in pink. I am pretty sure he likes the 40 and it is concealable (only with the proper permit where I live). I personally believe that every home needs to own a gun or two. Heck, it's down right patriotic. The only thing to make sure of is the laws where you live. In California if I shoot someone in my house he must not be shot in the back while leaving and he had better be in my house with a weapon. If you shoot them and don't say that they had a weapon coming at you, the homeowner can go to jail.

Many times - The best defense is a good offense. You can't change them so arm up and protect yourself, your family, and your property. It's your right as an American. Use what ever deterrent necessary. Cameras, traps, sensors. Build your offense. That should minimize or eliminate the threat. Good luck!

I think its best to have em strategily placed and fully loaded. If not get a few baseball bats
