Free Turkeys - How to give thanks and show appreciation

Just thinking about ways that I can contribute in a caring manner to my community on a small budget being so inspired on how Kid Rock goes beyond and keeps giving to his by leaps and bounds like the Meijer Thanksgiving gift cards for instance.

Here's a small gratifying way you can help give to someone and make their Thanksgiving holiday as special as yours. Some of your grocery stores have a way of getting points towards a free turkey by spending a certain amount, or buying certain items. Why not make someone's holiday special by donating the free turkey to a soup kitchen or a food bank this Thanksgiving. It's a great way of giving thanks for all that you are blessed with in your life.

    (Hallelujah Hey!)
    God Bless :)

Those are all great ideas. I love Thanksgiving. It's my favorite holiday... especially if you're lucky enough to spend it with your family & loved ones. I like Christmas too, and all of the lights and stuff, but it sometimes gets a little crazy anymore. Even just tonight, I saw something on the news, where some ladies in California are already in line waiting for black Friday. I had to do a double take, like wtf...are they crazy?? I had to glance at my calendar, and make sure I hadn't accidently lost a week somewhere. Anyway, I just thought it was a bit extreme, especially for me, as I don't like, or even do, the whole black Friday thing on a normal basis, so I sure as heck ain't gonna' go camp out in line for over a week.

Those are excellent ideas, thanks so much RSMS and Blue. Shoot, I don't have a Chase card but that's awesome that there is that option.. would be cool if Chase matched it as an even bigger incentive. Blue, interesting that you mentioned the dinner deliveries.... I truly thought about trying to a once per week thing where I would go out and dedicate Wed's mornings after I got off of work to help our county's meals on wheels program.. our paper had a listing of days and times that volunteers were needed. However, I had to put that thought on hold for now because of my father n law's condition and us needing to be there for him. Matter of fact, I just finished up from school and had to go out to the Goodwill and sift thru clothes for him because he lost more weight. How's that go.. Fuck Cancer
Now, I must go and see if I can listen to Midnight Ferry again... puts me in a good mood... "Hallujah Hey!"

Bex, just to add to this, if you have elderly neighbors, treat them to a delivery. One meal usually provides enough food for days. There are always a couple of restaurants with stellar reps in your area for take home Thanksgiving. Delivering it with the family on the way to the football game is a special treat for both the giver and recipient.

Here's another idea, too: for Chase bank visa customers, you can send your reward points (converted to cash) directly to the American Red Cross for relief aid on the Chase rewards website.
