Fan Club: Damn if you Do...Damn if you Don't??
    Missy says (01 Dec '10)

I was lookiing at the fan club site today, I got an eyeful. lol I have 3 different usernames(it is really out-dated) and can only access one... and this is because when I origionally joined in the beginning for pre-sale info, not tickets. To see where the KR/TBT be playing. It was good to get emails and when to look forward to a show. Then I lost that account info and had to start another 1(all from 08) and than, I really wanted to see what the hell is going on. lol I know he did the charge thing to access it, which I truly believe he (with good intent)did to deter access for pre-sale, to not let it get in the wrong hands, and he got shit for that too. Like how dare he charge for it. When it seems apparent that it is just trying to do good.  When he did that and all the craziness surrounding that and all the changes. So after reading his post and seeing his thoughts about closing it I was wondering what others thought?? I saw alot of cracks through it and maybe I am poorly informed or have no idea. I really don't understand it, if all these people (fans) are having trouble using this to access tickets. It doesn't seem bulletproof at all. There's just some weird stuff going down, and with all these pre-sales coming up for this tour. It really seems to be causing some major ag and there are hundreds and hundreds of pages of members. With no clear information..Who is legit and who has the wrong intent. Who actually is running that? It really does need to be cleaned up.

Now I can see exactly why he is so pissed off and if that was me, heads would roll if it had my name on it. I mean truly why the fuck should he let other make the money off his talent if he isn't going to charge it himself. I mean he is like in a catch 22. Between the fans and the scalpers. IDK if I was him I would be seriuosly thinking about getting rid of it and starting off fresh with experts in that field. I ain't stupid, scalping/brokers is/are always gonna be there and people will buy. Yet from states I know, you have to be registered and the up charge has to be in a certain percentage.. I mean he is getting shit right now on it ....either way he is gonna have to take some slack for it. Thoughts anyone?

Yes Blue, very true, saw many of bands that way. also bands after setting up their stage can than offer more seats, depends on venue. It can be a chance but the pay-off is sweet LOL

bluesuedeshoe's picture

That's how I do it, Missy. All the corporate tickets have to be turned back into the venue by 10 am the day of the show to be credited. Hit the will call around 4-6 pm, and ask for one seat. I've seen TBT a ton of times this way and never gotten further back then row 10. It's risky for more than one seat, but hell if you really want to see the show, split up and wave.

Miss Missy's picture

Just one more bit of info, many artists release great seats the day of the show. These facts better not screw me out of good seats lol

I agree on Artist arena clean up but thats every artist that uses them Not just Bob. But if we got rid of the scalpers then there would be good tickets for Fan Clubs.

Bluesuedeshoe, you are so right, Scalping won't stop till people stop caving in to their prices, just like the tabloid junk, their claptrap and paparazzi won't stop till Morons stop buying the papers and believing what they read. I agree, although maybe Artist Arena needs to clean their own house and make it just less frustrating. I don't think they can handle the demand. I had to go thru ticketmaster for the August shows at Pine Knob this past summer, because Artist Arena kept denying me tickets at the presale, because they couldn't find seats together, I wanted 1 night in the pavilion and one night on the lawn. Guess what, there are no seats on the lawn. You get there w/ your blankets when you get there. I've been going to Pine Knob since it opened in 1971 and have never had problems w/ tkts till recently

Missy, he'd have to take on the mafia to stop professional scalping. Seems like every couple of years this comes up, usually for a hot band with limited dates. U2 threw fits about it back in the day when they got huge.

Seems to me he could spend some time cleaning up his own house. He pays Artist Arena big bucks to run the fan club presale. Start there. These last two presales are the worst I've seen.

Missy, thank you for your post, and discussion topic. Like you, naturally I try to be a problem solver. Also always an advocate for the underdog! :-)

I can totally understand the fan's anger towards the ticket situation, I think its horribly fucked up and I wouldn't even begin to understand how to fix it. I completely agree with Angel, fans should get tickets first, and scalpers be damned!

Miss Missy's picture

Hope, I wanted to tell you last night, Yet I was so tired of pushing keys and hitting tabs lol... it is easy to set up a discussion, and you should if thoughts come to mind and you want to share. My first post was on a Kid Rock site. Then it just kept going to other sites of my different interests. I didn't mind your rant and if it helped I am glad I put this discussion up. :)

There is something in my nature I just like to problem solve or see why something is not working or how to better something. I saw alot yesterday. Kid Rock pays people to do this job and they are on his payroll, and I don't feel they are doing him justice imo. I don't know if and how his contract reads with them. I just throw things out there and hopefully people can TRY and understand and realize somethings are business and others are personal. How people/fans comment is out of my or any's control, That's on them. Read it or don't.

Artist Arena has all their contact info on their site just google them for those having a hard time accessing the KRC fan club site. I just know from the past and having joined another fan club a long time ago, when it came to presale for FANS only, you would get an email on EXACTLY what to expect. and/common problems and how to navigate through them.... which was good. So you had the options and informed information. Not having to hit AA in and read their page to see how to go thru the process of getting pre-sale. That is some BS and there is some problems in just that aspect of it. There is alot to this. I could only do so much research to what is available to an outsider like me.

I learned a very long time ago how to get tickets and not pay crazy ass prices. I think it is sad that the site is not user-friendly and often was mis-leading from past to present. Hopefully thru this experience and a great post by Kid and his fans, saying keep trying and refresh page, The people who want the pre-sale for their venue get them. I don't know I got a strong feeling some serious shit went down today and yesterday to start making things better. We shall see.

I had to start a whole other user id just to gain access to a site I joined a long time ago also, before the cost to membership ever happened. Ha ha I thought about sending my other user id's a pm to find out what the fuck is going on and see what happens Lmao. Just try when entering site ...click on forgot username or password before you type anything see if it sends you an email to the email account you might of used. I don't even remember all the details, yet I couldn't get back to that screen once I got in so I can't even delete other id's.

Had to laugh though at 1 point I read a board post and some past fan stuff ...now makes complete sense to me. lol WOW. is all I can say.. just for that the money was well spent. lol

kidrockangel's picture

The fan Club has been fucked up for awhile. There are no clear instructions anywhere. I have been a member since day one and I cant even access the damn site. lol The whole fiasco last year with the tshirts was a nightmare and artist arena blamed Kid rock. Hows that for running a fan club lol He needs to close the artist arena site and find a better way to do it. Fans should get tickets before public. Fans should get tickets before anyone.

Miss Missy's picture

Hope, just so you know that would only be for the Congregation of where you need to be a member to access pre-sale and that site doesn't get too much traffic until it is tour time.
As to what he was stating on his post. not all his sites.

I believe he has a heart of Gold, balls of Steel, this comes with being famous. He will be just fine. I just think sometimes his trying to make everybody happy and that is impossible. Kid Rock fans are tuff and they will get the tickets they need. It is a frustrating system for some, and common sense will pre-vail.

Miss Missy's picture

I know many other bands that are tight-fisted, even the bands told me themselves. You ain't getting thru and then it goes through senority of when you joined the fan club. Scalpers/brokers straight out told me unless your legit and a fan sells their ticket off. your definately 10 rows out. It is a whole system that was put into place just for ticket sales.

Yeah I feel for him, This is definately an up-hill battle. It can be done, yet it is gonna be an over-haul and I am sure he is gonna get the wake of that also. I just don't know whether or not he should be putting out more pre-sale dates til some of this is addressed. This is a great album, it will be a great tour. I just wonder how many tickets he is putting out at a time for pre-sale. I mean, I knew his Birthday was gonna go over big and sell-out fast. Just wondering if they did:) I mean I have been to so many concerts in my life and I don't buy pre-sale only because I can't commit to a day months in the future. Ya know. I just really started looking today at it and the Fan Club needs something ASAP

mightimouse77's picture

You know Missy, as I was reading posts earlier this afternoon, I was having the same thoughts as you. I haven't yet ever started a discussion topic, but emotionally was driven to do just that until I read your post. I was going to start out a "Dear Mr. Ritchie" post, and basically say a lot of the things that you have already said. Not only about the tickets for his Birthday, the pre-sale concert tickets, fans calling him all sorts of shit including a sell-out. It has been bothering me quite a bit, for some odd reason. I don't know how he can tolerate all of the bs...he must have nerves of steel that is all I can guess. In my business, we turn to ativan/xanax! (just kidding...lol) I don't know how much he reads any of the stuff that happens here, but a large part of me hopes that he doesn't. I guess what bothers me is the hurtful nature of some of it. I hope he doesn't shut down the fansite, because I enjoy some of the discussions, but honestly I wouldn't blame him a bit if he did shut the whole thing down. Sometimes it just seems like he's just this huge target for people to throw shit-balls at, and there seems to be no end in sight to the shit-balls. He blinks the wrong way, and here comes another one!

I hope he sees that some of us really do care, some of us do appreciate his generosity, and some of us really do enjoy all of his music. Some of us do see that he is only human, just one man, and don't expect perfection.

I don't know, sorry for the rant...just a little bothered by all of this at the moment...

Missy I am a legitimate member of KRC. The fact that so many fans that are just trying to get tkts legitimately and can't infuriates me, You are right Kid Rock is in a Catch 22. He can't win for losing. I checked some individual state scalper laws and the fines are nothing. No state is going to prosecute for scalping. Seems like the fans and artists may have to join together to stop scalping and brokering.
