I've been on a lil program that I created for myself since January... and I managed to lose 11 pounds so far... but this weekend was a challenge and I probably put a good 2lbs back on.. especially with the two lagers I had... and I was feeling it cuz I have not had a drink since Jan. Anyway... with two weeks away... I thinking if I get back to the gym and work my arse off... I could get another 5lbs off me, it's possible.. that elliptical burns killer calories in no time. Looking ahead, I see this plan working for me to get down to a healthy weight. I eat the same thing each day.... boneless, skinless chicken breast, salad, broccolli.. and sometimes I add a half of baked potato.for dinner. Thanks to Ajay for saying about using bbq sauce as a light dipper on the chicken... I was doing egg white/bread crumbs.. and got sick of it... this way it's even less calories. C'mon folks if I can do it.. anyone can..... last chance workout : )

Don't know but sounds good.

I'm bouncy ball happy I've being motivated by you awesome gals to do more...thanks for the motivation and the education. Just what my body and soul were searching for, but I gotta ask which one of you popped it into my mind that a cream cheese fresh spinach black olive flour tortilla could be so fr*ckin delicious!?!?!

rjl1969's picture

I'll never forget the first time I had a full body massage and they told me to drink plenty of water and I didn't nderstand the concept. Man I felt like I got hit by a Mack truck. Every part of my body hurt.

rjl1969's picture

Hey you don't need doggie downers if you do high protein, low carb. The high protein w the workout helps the muscles to recover, no pain, no soreness, no cramps. Works wonders! Oh and lots of water flushes toxins released through the body.

Montana Anna's picture

Thanks, RJL, that 'splains a lot for me. I appreciate the info and the drinking water reminder. I've been ok, but I've done better ;)

Good God, I could never do jump rope either....tripped over my own two feet in jazzercise class and fell on my ass.
Hurt my back good. I have a friend who works at a veterinary office....she gave me some really good pain pills. My husband calls them my "doggy downers". They did the trick....few days on them and the heating pad and I'm back in class. Take care Donna...if I lived closer I'd share my doggy downers...lol
RSMS...too frickin funny!

MsBehavin's picture

I can't do strenuous cardio because of my surgery so the most I can do there is walk, swim-big swimmer, or sex.lol that's about as strenuous as I get. The rest if the exercise is not super strenuous but effective. Oh and sex is wonderful exercise, it's usually free but you do have to carry his ass around. Lmaoritf!

I Believe's picture

Funny!! :)

Montana Anna's picture

Lmaoritf! “carry his ass around” Lmaoritf all over again! :) Hold on there...sex, mmmm, that sounds like a nice kind of strenuous..or languorous…ummm really nice kinda exercise ;) I love to swim but sex sounds much more effective, exciting, and satisfying but right now it’s starting to feel like I’ll be alone tonight googling planking before that ever happens :( LOL :)

Palates, Thai chi, free weights. Palates ball deflates and can go anywhere. Thai chi costs nothing , and requires no equipment , and talk about limber. Free wts are light and can carry any where. Then a good walk. Free again and no equipment . Palates is the most enjoyable exercise I've done. Very relaxing laying over the ball in a relaxed but stretched state afterward. Works every muscle in your body if you learn how to use the ball, especially legs and butt and is great for the back and core body. I do a lot of work at the computer sitting and it keeps me pain free after sitting long periods. Thai chi , I incorporate my own style that is almost like dance but hold the position.

LOL RSMS!!!!
I bought a jumprope. they had weighted ones, etc...I got an adjustable speed jumprope..I lalways loved it ..and just the thought of Planks hurts my head! I hated them! But they do work.

Mrs Cedar Michigan's picture

omg ladies..... I am not even close to being coordinated enough to jump rope for exercise...LOLOL

I Believe's picture

LOL...It takes a bit to get used to, and to do properly (I had to learn the correct way...not like when we were kids), but I swear by it now...it truly is the best.

Montana Anna's picture

wait you get to learn how to properly jump rope and then you get to jump rope whenever and wherever you want which makes it really really fun...just like when we were kids!?!?! oh, i trust you, i believe, i trust you with my health if you swear by it being the best for me. i'm really excited...i gotta find me a rope and get started...yippee!...i get to jump rope like when i was a kid...how flippin' awesome is that?...i really do feel the joy and hopefully a bit road wise but still joyful innocence of being a kid...wow, i almost had forgotten about her...i haven't seen her in forever...until now :)

I Believe's picture

No, its work (Its hard), and not like when we were kids. It takes a bit to get used to, but it truly is the best. Its great if you need to lose weight, and its great if you don't. Its really great if you're almost totally there, but you just need that little something, to take you over the threshold, and to the finish line. I'm telling you...it works.

Montana Anna's picture

I hear you it's hard. Good. I've been doing pretty good with endurance and toning but I haven't been dancing as much as I'd like to be (note to self) and I realize I'm a bit bored with what I do daily. I've been looking for that little something to take me over my threshold, but without running (done that enough) or going to a gym with equipment. This it sounds like I could do in my front yard...I'd say my cottage but the ceilings are low; makes for good long tall body stretching though lol :) Until I get one then, I've already upped my home old school stuff. Feelin' good :)

Montana Anna's picture

Thanks for the speed rope and good old school advice :) I don't like to carry a lot of stuff around with me in my travels and want to have some good guided exercise...I already have my toning weights packed :) ...I'm almost embarassingly old school at times lol ;) so this is right up my alley! :) Cheap did someone say? Even with money, I'm still a frugal gal...I can make my pennies streeeeeeeetch lol :) ...there's a beautiful creativity in thin times if you choose to embrace them...I mean, once ya taste the simple life... :) Ok, seriously gals, riddle me this!?!?! Why is it on the day you really want to look your best, that you feel, though it may not be true, like you're the fattest you've ever been??? Why, why dear God why??? :P Heeeeeelp, Sweeties :) Do ya feel me? :) Oh, well, I can at least be giggling about it right now :) I'm hoping I look alright...oh, that reminds me I better finish gettin' ready for my day...you know, even though we don't intend to, us gals can sometimes take a little longer when we're batting from behind (oh, well at least that still looks good lol) and wanna look our best...just a few more things...oh, and then the dog...can't wait to hear the click of my it's been way too long since I've worn them cowboy boots...ahhh...sheer bliss :)

MsBehavin's picture

I feel much better :-) Gotta get a hot shower--Life is good :-)
Planking is where You put Your body into the traditional push-up position (keeping arms straight) but You keep everything as tight as You can and make sure Your back is straight----Your body should look like a board with arms--hence the name "planking" then You hold that position for as long as You can and slowly release. Try looking for the correct way to do it by Googling it----I bet there are videos or something out there. Then try it---it will hurt so good :-)

Montana Anna's picture

Thanks, Ms B! :) I love you and how you teach me and how you watch out for me while letting me grow and learn :) I feel special :) You're Awesome! :) I'll google...I love to exercise and I gotta keep it fresh or else I get bored and don't wanna do it ;) ...I love to hurt so good ;) Enjoy your hott shower ;) I feel much better, after mine...Life is definitely goooood! So Sweet! Now to wear out the dog so she's calm and really happy...kinda like me! :)

I Believe's picture

You're funny (The dog comment)!! Like MsB said, you'll like planking, and just the old school stuff works wonders (and cheap). If you do all that, and possibly add a speed rope, you'll stay in great shape, no matter how old we get. Thats the key really, moderation and exercise, plus I always feel better after I work out (great for stress too). Hope you're having a good day Montana. :)

Montana Anna's picture

AWWWWWWWWWW!!!! :) I LOVE!!!! :) :) :) :) You Guys!!! :) :) :) :) Thank you for all the inspiration, great exercise - although I don't know what planking is so I hope I'll find somebody to teach me ;) - tips!!!! :) :) :) :) I was kind of swimming a bit in wondering what more to do in addition to my bouncey ball exercises and constant good for me stretching :) Yes, definitely thank you for the inspiration and your belief in me...I can feel it...and I smile!!!! :) :) :) :) Yes, good form is super-de-duper important - I'm so sorry to hear of your dumb ass :) lower back pain, Ms B...I hope the eliptical helps loosen it up good for you...I know you're so active and healthy...I have hope...and I'll put in a plug for it does wonders for me and my lower back bouncey ball stretches ;) I hope to hear good reports! :)

MsBehavin's picture

~AWWWWWWWW!!!!!!! :-) I LOVE!!!!!!!! You Guys!!!!!!!!! :-)
Thank Yous!!!!!!!!!!! :-)
Planking works wonders!!!!!!!!!! And believe it or not--the old school shit like jumping jacks-running in place (or even just walking :-)-squats and lunges also work :-)
I like to do cardio for an hour at least a couple days a week---and then work on muscle groups 4 days a week.
MAKE SURE that You're doing ANY exercise the RIGHT WAY!!!!!!!!!! I did a leg press machine yesterday at the gym and was too lazy(and in a hurry) to move the seat up to the right position for shorter people---and fucked up something in my lower back. And I KNEW better (what a DUMB-ASS--lol :-)!!!! I'm gonna go do an hour on the elliptical now--and PRAY that loosens it up. I'll report back in a little while :-)

I Believe's picture

I agree, and I ab-solutely like planking too!! I love the old school stuff too, heck it works for the military, in boot camp right. Like I mentioned before, I love the speed rope. Once you get it down, there's nothing better, and much like planking, you can take it with you, and do it anywhere. Sounds like you need to take it easy for a few days with your back. Hope you're feeling better soon. :)

300 posts on this thread! Guess we can all relate on some level. Still working at it myself. Thinking its down to the wire....time to pull out the cabbage soup diet again. Come hell or high water I'm gonna fit into my skinny jeans! Working the core more...crunches, reverse push-ups, planking! Keep working it ladies!
