Summer event season is in full swing in the Quad City area. And as the events go on, so does severe weather.
Event organizers must plan for any possible weather conditions. Burlington Steamboat Days President and Des Moines County Sheriff, Mike Johnson, said organizers run through exercises with emergency management crews.
"We think of all possible scenarios that could happen at Steamboat Days," he said.

Did anyone else read that Sixthman announced Theme Night #1? From what I read but could not find myself was that the "70's" will be one of the theme nights..I for one am not excited and a bit disapointed about it, and now not sure if I will participate or not, anyway just wanted to spread the word..

I'm thinking 70's, hmmm, hip huggers with wide leather belt, platforms (which are back in), bell bottoms and cool concert shirts. Way better look than the 80's with big hair and shoulder pads!!!
Last years on sail off Kid Rock made a comment about all the sailers he said "Theres alot of Charters here" I think if were gonna have a threm night it should be faviroit CARE Rick ter and also a MID (made in Detroit) matter of fact the MID should be in the day we first set foot on REDNECK PERIDICE (id use spell ck, but I think yall smart enough to figure it out, if not your loss).
Damn I am not excited either. Would never fit in those old clothes even if I had saved them. Hell I thought disco was more in the 80's. That is when I was hitting those clubs anyway. Really not a good theme.
I remember back in the 70s having those zipper sweaters with the big 'ole ring on the zipper. I'd always manage to zip my neck and it hurt like hell. I have a picture of me with one of those sweaters on, sitting on Santa's lap at downtown Hudsons.
Maybe Bob and the band will put on their Halloween costumes from a couple years ago.. and show us what we missed.. lol
lol.. it's hard to find a good pair of bell bottoms these days.. let alone finding coke on a boat : )~ I guess we'll just be yelling 'Freebird' all night... and hope the Whiskey River takes my mind by the end of the night.
