    ya know, earlier I posted a link to the lyrics and uTube video of an old Balls in your Mouth version from KRs early Bootleg Tapes that he himself produced (as I understand it) and sold in the 90s.  This is the link: http://www.kidrocklyrics.net/boot7.htm

     

    I was adding the videos to these bootleg tape lyric pages cause so few people have ever heard these versions.  I figured this wasn't a big copyright issue because the tapes are not commercially for sale and I'm not using them for any commercial gain on my part.  but I now I'm wondering if I"m wrong.  I can't ask the man himself so I'm putting this question out there, especially for any of you that are artists and musicians.  Is it ethically ok or wrong to be making these old tunes available for free, when they are not available for sale anywhere, and they are already all over the net in various places? 

     

    or should I pull them off?

thanks Ladies, both good points~ :-) Imma leave them for the moment, but I'll try and find someone to ask at some point.

I know visual artists get very upset about that kinda thing, regardless of whether they are selling it or not. but... this might be different? for the moment I'll keep typing lyrics!

Jade I dont know how they feel about it but ive been doing it for years and no one has said anything to me. I know its a nono to share music that is currently for sale by the artist. other than that...

i know nothing about it Jade but I think if BOB has a issue with it he would pull it off you tube artists and thier label can do that...if it hasn't happened Jade I wouldn't worry ok?

Thanks Cheryl & Videoace! I appreciate the imput & opinions, it gives ways of thinking about this.

actually, the bootleg versions I'm talking about are not on his official site. And Videoace, I did create these videos and upload them myself. I know there are other vids out there all over the place, but I wanted them in one place where I could control the links and keep them active. so I created simple videos with the web address to the lyrics site I created an uploaded them in my own account.

so, I dunno if that goes over the line or not.

i wouldnt worry about it. its being posted on a kid rock site about kid rock lyrics. i would think of it the same as adding pictures. you didnt create the videos, you are just linking them. i dont see any problems at all.

thanks RSMS~ I don't expect him to answer but I'd hate to be doing something that he or his people would find offensive or wrong. I really don't know what the "right" thing to do is in this situation!

for the first time ever, for all the joking I've done over the years about groupies trying to get to KR, I do actually wish I could ask him this question seriously!
