Many in the Detroit area know about this tragic story. West Bloomfield Police Officer Patrick O'Rourke was killed September 9 in the line of duty by a barricaded gunman. O'Rourke leaves behind a wife and four precious children. WCSX radio and my very favorite cover band, Fifty Amp Fuse, will be hosting a fundraiser for this family beginning at 7 p.m. tonight at the Royal Oak Music Theatre. There will be no tickets sold at the door, rather a $10 donation to the family will be accepted. Fifty Amp Fuse is a premier cover band in the Detroit area.

Kelly Parker is a single mom facing cancer and eviction from her Detroit home from the city itself. Her story can be found on Fox 2 Detroit. She purposely spray painted graffiti on her home to make her home less attractive to those who would like to bid on it at auction. Her neighbors support her. I heard on MOJO in the morning this morning that Kelly has started a facebook page called Help Kelly Parker and is desperate to be allowed, with her children, to continue living in her home. I suspect this story will go viral. Providence Hospital has confirmed Kelly is a cancer patient.

He really does put on a good show. I love how much fun he has on stage with the band and the crowd as well. As a Steve Miller fan, I think it's brilliant how he mingles The Joker with his NO Stranger to Shame song. I drove home singing, "I'm no stranger to shame..." Couldn't get that tune out of my head. It really is best live. I saw a whole bunch of people from the cruise there and as you all know, we truly are just one big dysfunctional family! Ty was under the weather so he didn't perform. Kracker is scheduled to appear as part of Brantley Gilbert's Hell on Wheels Tour this fall.

I wanted to catch Katie Couric's new show today at 3:00 since Sheryl Crow would be on it and my cable went out right before Sheryl came out. It just came back on when it was time for the credits to roll. My luck as usual. Anyone else catch the show? I think Sheryl did the theme music if I am not mistaken. I didn't see the beginning but caught just the end of Jessica Simpson's interview.

Kid Rock Boosts Paul Ryan in Michigan

BLOOMFIELD HILLS, Mich. – Paul Ryan had quite the special guest at his fundraiser Friday night: Romney supporter and rock star Kid Rock.

The Michigan native, who sings Romney’s campaign theme song, “Born Free” appeared on stage with the vice presidential candidate.

“I was going to come out, be a little wisenheimer and say, ‘Guess which one is running for vice president?’” Kid Rock said, sporting his signature straw fedora. “And then, they would introduce Paul and I would walk out and say hello.”

    That didn’t

Fox 2 Detroit (I think it was Fox - I was half asleep getting the kids off to school this morning), ran a piece about the DSO's outreach program. They will be performing at five local high schools. I do believe this was made possible by Kids' DSO fundraising concert this past May. The broadcaster made no reference to the Kid concert. I don't know if a press release was made by the DSO, outlining how Kid made this happen, or if it was clearly stated in a press release and the news writer just didn't include the information for broadcast.
