Am still waiting to hear it in concert-perhaps Grand Rapids? Saginaw on Saturday night? pretty, pretty, please with sugar on top!

I received a letter in the mail from the university where my son will attend in the fall. The letter began, "All those early mornings, late nights, and long years of hard work have paid off..."

Kid's lyrics immediately came to mind.

Although the two goals are a bit different, they are in fact aims set by each and attained. So proud of my son.

I hope someone can post the 2013 cruise Q & A. For those who weren't there, I just wanted to write about one portion that has really stuck with me the last few days. I forget what the question was because Kid playfully went off topic on many, but what he said in one response really struck me.

Metallica and 30 other bands are slated to perform at the Orion Festival June 8-9 on Belle Isle, according to the Detroit News. Belle Isle is literally Kid's new backyard. Will this spur Kid to do a Belle Isle concert? I'm hoping so. Hey, this is OUR HOUSE, you know, and Kid is the hometown boy.

all weekend long. The festival runs today, beginning at 3 p.m. and goes until Sunday at 6 p.m. See master ice carvers creating beautiful sculptures. Wear warm clothes, especially boots, because it's ALWAYS cold but vendors will have food and hot chocolate on hand for purchase. If you have never gone, I guarantee it's a neat event to see. Bring the kids, but make sure they have plenty of layers on. The Box Bar near the park has a great beer menu, btw.

I was waiting in the Kroger check-out line this morning and watched in utter amazement as the lady in front of me graciously paid for the groceries for the woman in front of her, saying "I am doing this today because I don't know what tomorrow brings." The bill was $165. The cashier and I just looked at each other, both of us amazed. The recipient of the gift thanked the kind woman and told her to have a "blessed day" and left with the groceries.
