    Board Members for Beckxys C.A.R.E
    rjl1969 says (11 Sep '12)

Ok, here we go. For those who don't know Beckxy, she has come up with a wonderful idea and nonprofit org that we are going to try and roll out. Beckxy will be founder and is she chooses also Chief executive dependant upon her schedule. We need people to volunteer for the board and vote for appointment to fill the positions. Read just a fun read under express the Kid Rock in you to get all the info so I don't have to give details again. The board can be very small to start and grow and I recommend people with some experience in the role to seat that board position but it is not absolutely necessary. We need chief if Beckxy decides to just serve as the head and founder, auditor, bookkeeper, writer for minute and report- we'll say annually for now, it would be nice to have legal if anyone knows an attorney willing to volunteer at this point or probono with pay to come later, chair of committee- which can be shared in the idea process for now. There are others but this will be the core and a good start and we can add as we grow and serve multiple functions until established. I need a representative from each state to look up the tax laws in that state, completely separate from government nonprofit taxing, I will need assistance in research, also someone for computer work, design, and webpage , we don't have to have insurance or an attorney at this point but it never hurst to cover ourselves. So please post whether you want to vote and appoint, volunteer, or likewise for board members and what if any position you would be interested in and if not, would you be interested later on a committee when we are further along to help with deciding how to carry out mission, planning, financial, education objectives, etc.....look forward to your posts. Meanwhile I will look into Facebook page.

Wish u were on that bus. Boy, I would love to be a fly on the wall listening to those conversations.

Learn not to live like you are dying but to live while you are dying. I learned this a long time ago as we are all dying, some quicker than others, that you can't spend your life in fear of dying or else you don't learn to live. Just like the song the rose" it's the soul afraid of dying that never learns to live". Be happy, love, live, laugh. I hope you're ok Bexcksy , my prayers to you and yours.

Bex, if I were you, I would contact the mayor and see if you can ride along for the trip as part of a school credit program. You might get to go as an "on the ground" reporter from
Reading. It would be excellent, and you would love it.

Wanna here something pretty cool. My husband brings today's paper into me while I'm at work, pulls section B out, and shows me this fascinating article about our mayor and councilmen. Here, They are taking a bus trip out to Detroit next week to spend 3 days meeting with groups, foundations, and city officials to learn about what they are doing to rebuild their city which our mayor hopes to get ideas to help rebuild our city from the visit. I wish I could post the article, but I'm having difficulties with posting urls. Thinking... I should of actually sent that essay that I wrote about implementing a C.A.R.E program to my mayor now... since he's heading West.... at least he can go visit the CARE wall and understand where that came from then. Anyway... that was the vision for the essay... get our community, our city involved and start caring about things... instead of hiding in their houses, letting their kids run the streets, scared to come out because of being afraid they get shot, yanno. Neighbors need to take their neighborhoods back... sick of this shit in Reading. They wanna raise the property taxes 15 percent higher... that's one way, but how my parents gonna survive with that hike.. pffft.. they barely getting by now as so as it is. Hope the mayor learns a good thing or two... keeping my head up high.... Detroit's a great city to learn from :)

What can Detroit teach Reading?

That's what Mayor Vaughn D. Spencer and three other city officials hope to discover next week, when they join 19 others on a three-day bus trip to the ailing Motor City that's trying to make a comeback.

"Detroit is going through something more painful than what Reading is going through," said Council President Francis G. Acosta, who will join Spencer, city Managing Director Carole B. Snyder and Community Development Director Lenin Agudo on the trip.

Acosta said Detroit has a plan similar to the recent market value analysis of the greater Reading area.

Here, it's expected to drive city housing and economic development efforts. Acosta and Spencer said they'll see first-hand how the plan works in Detroit.

They'll be meeting with neighborhood groups, foundations and the Detroit Economic Growth Corp.

"There's no free time," Acosta said.

Most of the other travelers are from the Wyomissing Foundation and the Berks County Community Foundation, both of whom are sponsoring the entire trip.

It won't be just a pleasant ride. The bus is laid out with conference tables, so officials can discuss their needs on the way out and their reactions on the way back.

Spencer noted that large areas of Detroit are abandoned. That city had decided it couldn't afford to provide those areas with services such as police and fire.

He said there are no such plans in Reading.

The tour will leave early Tuesday and return Thursday night.

How's your mom?

test came back clear Becky and thank you for asking. Mom did have a heart attack undetected in the past. However...the good news is no long lasting effects and Mom actually met with her Physical Therapist this week. She doesn't want to kill me anymore for putting her though this and actually started doing more stuff around the house and is looking forward to her PT visit today. Soon, the gym even if for the bike. How is your Mom, still getting stonger? Ik it may be hard to talk about your Dad in law, but I have been praying for you guys I just wish remission or something for him. Just for him and his son to have some more good memories :) The only good thing about that decease is that it does give folks time for words that need to be spoken, forgiveness and love shared for some extra moments. Unlike car accidents, etc. I pray God's peace through all of this for you all.

Ahgrr.. I responding to some posts down below.. but can't read thru them all right now.... very limited. Haven't gotten on to say hello in a while.. yet in my mind frame, I think it's sometimes better to stay off.. cuz I don't like being so stinkin negative all the time.. it's not me. So, sometimes it's best to take a step back, yanno. One thing is for sure... so blessed to have and hold onto the lil things in life. The hurricane so suddenly reminded us how precious life is.

Hi Bobbie Jean, I came across a post about needing prayers for your mom. I just wanted you to know that I'm thinking of you and your mom. Love ya, homie !!

Hi Blue, RJ, Star, and everyone else in this thread.. hope life's been treating you kind :)

I'm typing during a live meeting for computer program training at work while others are trying to catch up! Lol snooooooze!

Rebecca Ja'nean's picture

I think for tax purposes you don't have to show receipt unless over a certain amount and then you have to do a special form, just from my experience with my CPA . I know that in the past when I have donated large amounts over the year I had to have special documentation for TX purposes. That amount probably changes from year to year so I am not sure what it is for this year.

Rebecca Ja'nean's picture

I don't know how that would work for tax purposes as I claim charity on my taxes and I don't know how that would work for each individuals contributions. I'll try and research how that can be done also.

Rebecca Ja'nean's picture

You have to be an employee where I work. Sorry I was trying to explain that below but wasn't sure I explained it well. They have a program to match funds for any charity donations with certain qualifications such as amount donated, time volunteered etc. Most employers have some type of charity involvement and some match and some don't. Check with your employer to see what programs they have. Now once Bexcksy gets hers up and going I can get matching funds for her. If I pay one payment by credit card , I also can get matching funds or if I do payroll deductions. So if we wanted to maybe all donate under one so that employer of mine would match I could set up prepaid credit card to which we could all add and donate funds from there to get double and then send copies of receipts to all donators but the only problems is that it will not show all donators as it would be under my employee number and address. But if we want to double Bexcksys fund we could go around it that way. I always say where there is a will there is a way. I will have to double check to make sure I can do this legally because I like to do things properly and of course legally.

bluesuedeshoe's picture

Rereading this thread is so inspirational. Rebecca, could you please spell out the procedure you used to get matching grants with the KRF? Was it just for your donation to this cause, or is it set up for all to donate and match?

Bobbie Jean_2's picture

ps - I guess nxt time I say "nice to hear all the good news"... I might wanna scroll down and read a little further, sorry guys

rjl, glad urs went well - & Blue, I am soooo so, sorry that you went through all that and didn't get to keep your app. :(

Turkey'd out due to Sandy, they cancelled. Lovely. AFTER the pre-prep. Go again within the month. Glad to hear you found treatable stuff. So important to go for these. People over 50, GO!!! I try to do one major course of antibiotics every Fall, seems to get everything as a precaution.

Rebecca Ja'nean's picture

Hey blue how did your procedure go? Mine went good. Slight inflammation in the stomach that I get antibiotics for and the other end he said was tight. I'm nit kidding! I laughed my ass off , afterwards of course in disbelief. Couldn't believe he said it and right in front of my husband. He's been my doctor for 8 years and knows me and I give him shit too. Literally. Lol

Rebecca Ja'nean's picture

Bexcksy, let me know when you graduate and get a few years under your belt because I work with people across the USA and we just live/telephone conference in meetings and use instant messaging and email. It great although some of our classes were delayed due to the hurricane so I hope those people are ok. I'm assuming they are as classes resume tomorrow. We have just been studying til then and doing live conferences.

Beckxy's picture

ha... at the rate I'm going.. hopefully I'll graduate by the time I'm 50..lol I'm 37 now...lol. We lost a week of classes due to the Hurricane.. mostly electrical outages. Sadly, there were two seniors that past away in our area.. one of them was because he came out on his porch to put more gas into his generator, and a damn tree came crashing down on the porch, killing him instantly. The other was also a generator story... an older couple got carbon monoxide poisoning from it, the fella died, and his wife was transported to a Maryland hospital which is pretty far away from here. Anyway.. I just started this fall, so I have a long time to go in school.. at least four more years, lol

Lots of good news here, nice to see :)))

Rebecca Ja'nean's picture

Or the wait for anything good for that matter.Lol

Rebecca Ja'nean's picture

They have 33000 employees and vote once a year for an org for top prize and this year top one got 30,000 dollars and employees vote. I'm not sure how orgs get nominated. I'll have to learn more. Just started and orienting to no end. Haven't even done my benefits yet but I have donated and started 401k because they match 6% dollar for dollar and vesting from day 1. Sometimes the wait is worth it to find the right job. Whoo hoo.

Rebecca Ja'nean's picture

Also if anyone is part of KRF I need to do 20 hrs of community service as part of my bargain. Anything I can do?

Beckxy's picture

Yes, please go volunteer at your American Red Cross Chapter. I used to do that when I was a teenager.. was part of the red cross clown troop and went out to nursing homes and other places to entertain and put a smile on ppl's faces. They also do meals on wheels, and do disaster runs.. once I get a grip with things here... I'd like to start volunteering to them again.

Rebecca Ja'nean's picture

Bluesuedeshoes , it's always a good laugh when it comes from me and I sent the donation to the general Kid rock foundation not specifying an area so they can use it where it is needed the most. The company matches what ever donation I make and they had Kid Rock Foundation in the system when I looked it up and the address and everything is in there and they sent me a confirmation plus 8 hrs pto... I guess that's where the laugh came from. If you donated over 520 they gave 8 hrs pto and they match any contribution , I believe . But they did match mine because I got the email. If you know the specific org within the org , you can specify which area you want it to go to but I wanted a general for where it is needed the most. That's how I roll. Anyway, it's an employee thing and I don't know if they take outside contributions but I hope that helps. Let me know if you are part of that org and there is any area that they need the most and I will make sure it goes there for the next. And there will be a next. I just hope Bexcksy is able to get back to the things she was doing and everything turns out ok for her. It's got to be hard.

Beckxy's picture

def in time :)

Rebecca Ja'nean's picture

Just checking in and keeping post up there. How's pops doing? My offer stands if you want to bring him to Dallas to see the specialist. My house is always open as well as my heart! May God give you all strength when you need it.

Beckxy's picture

RJ, you are the best :) From my heart, I really appreciate that :) Geno is the youngest of 10 brothers and sisters, such a big family unlike me who has one older brother.. but that big family dynamic can be a touchy situation sometimes. His dad is very well looked after by all 10 of them, yet there's a lot of he said / she said crap that goes on behind their walls. Let's just say he's well spoken for because first and foremost... he's quite a fighter.. some may say he's a stubborn old man..lol. But he's Geno's dad and with much respect, he pretty much lays down the law on what he wants and what he does not want. The hospital wanted to send him home right before the Hurricane hit, but he threw a fit in the hospital and said NO!! He's not going home.. and they had to keep him there because of Medicare, I believe. Good thing he did stay there because our county had a ton of electric outages from trees going down and some minor flooding. He's nearing the end of radiation.. and they will check to see if then chemo could be a possibility.. not sure what they are checking for, but yea. They put a feeding tube in him because the cancer is really bad.. three organs and the lymph nodes --not good-- but we stay positive. It's all we can do. Thanks for your prayers, babe. It is such an incredibly overwhelming time here right now for us. Kinda crazy but I haven't been online much with all that's been going on. Since we are in the CARE thread, everyone please keep your thoughts and prayers to all that are suffering from Hurricane Sandy.. NY and NJ got hit really hard... folks are running out of water to drink, and gas... oh boy, what horror!

Beckxy's picture

That's an awesome job you have there that they will match your donation. Honestly, that's where I would wish for any fund raising donations to go too, The Kid Rock Foundation. I know there are tons and tons out there, but he has the best heart and spreads that love around where it's needed.
