Damn if it isn't one thing I truly hate in the world and that is a bat. Nothing but a flying mouse to me, and a blind one at that! Ikkkkk! They make my skin crawl...Anyway, with all the rain we have had it took a toll on the ol'roof and needless to say I have leaks on top of leaks! I guess the bat was looking for a place to nap, still no clue where he got in. I was a hurrying to get ready for work when out of the corner of my eye I saw a brief movement. Yup, he was up near the ceiling all comfy and cozy with his wings wrapped around him. I was in disbelief, and talked myself into grabbing the broom cause it just HAD TO BE a piece of wet drywall coming down...HA! I don't know what got into me as I knocked him down onto a chair, he shook his head and looked up at me and I slammed the broom down at least 2 times as hard as I could and ran like hell following my booboo into my bedroom slamming all doors behind me. Had to call my dad...my hero! He slammed around the kitchen thinking I was needing to sleep or something when suddenly the final crash sounded and the bat was gone. I know they are on the endangered list,(oh f--king well!) So I could care less how, where, it wnet as long as it was gone! I haven't been in the kitchen for any longer than 30 seconds at a time since then.....
Thanks for the info....good info too! I wasn't aware of the damage they could make....
yeah...I'm indifferent to bats. Dont like 'em in the house of course, but moving slowly and not phwapping swatters around makes it less likely to have a bat run into you. They do however carry many diseases as well as rabies. When they get in the house I just wait for them to settle in a corner and pluck it by the back of the neck & let it loose outside.
ANGIE>>>>> what you should be more concerned with is are there more in your roofing system. If you have a nest growing up there it can rot the shit out of your joists. Their urine and fecal matter are like acid to metal and wood. If the stuff seems into the walls you are talking major unknown illnesses as well as extensive damage. Call an exterminator to have it chkd out.
I just got to remember to RUN FAST!
