Kid Rock has joined local music experts and representatives from professional sports teams as part of an 11-member panel of judges to determine the 10 semifinalists for the FOX Sports Detroit’s APRIL IN THE D Song Contest.

The individuals on the guest panel are working this week to narrow an overall field of 50 musical acts entered down to the top 10.

Then, starting Feb. 21, Detroit’s sports and music fans will vote online at FoxSportsDetroit.com to determine three finalists. The finalists will undergo another round of online voting to determine the grand prize winner, which will be announced April 1. The winning band receives $5,000 and the honor of delivering the song that will promote FOX Sports Detroit’s April the D campaign that celebrates the city’s passion for sports and the welcomed arrival of springtime. All three finalists receive a professional recording session valued at $1,000.

Entrants were required to submit a music video of no longer than 3 minutes, 30 seconds that incorporates a sports theme focusing on Detroit’s teams and the phrase “April in the D”. Entries are judged based on creative lyrical use, production quality and originality.

Kid Rock’s involvement in the guest panel is another example of his love of all things Detroit. His recent hit song Times Like These, a ballad to the resiliency of the Motor City and its citizens, was used during the APRIL IN THE D Song Contest call for entries period.

Here is the complete list of guest judges for the current phase of the APRIL IN THE D Song Contest voting:

You never cease to amaze me Bobby! Why don't you just run for President? I know millions of us would vote for you. You are the only one out there making any sense these days. You have the following and you are used to running with the big boys, so it wouldn't be that much of a stretch for you! Think of all the good you could do not only for this country, but for the troops you support so much. Love You! Keep up the good work!!

Congratulations! I know this is an unusual request, would you mind viewing a video I produced of a young lady that I am representing? I have always respected and admired your knowledge of the music business and would so appreciate any feedback or direction that you could give. She has also just recorded a song she wrote including you in the lyrics. We would be honored if you would consider listening. i just hope the song lyrics are easy to decipher...sometimes its hard to read between the lines...doesnt always make for a good song...you could lose the listeners interest cuz they just dont get it and that could be a terrible waste of a good tune. .. for all parties involved...good luck to all the contestants i hope they figure it out.... and all are winners : )

That's cool! I just LOVE the Chrysler commercial - "Imported From Detroit". It's a great commercial for Detroit - hopefully it will make people realize what a great city and state this is!! I do think the commercial woulda been better if u were in it or they used one of your songs that represents the D!! p.s. we were in the car today (listening to you of course like we ALWAYS do) and my son said: "mom...whenever I'm feelin down I always feel better when I listed to Kid Rock". My son is 8 - too cute! He knows what he's talking about tho!! :) Good luck and have fun finding some great talent in the D!!!
