Preparty Tues. 3/5:
What fun! Our flight got in from Detroit around noon. By the time we got off the plane, we could taxi to the boat and check in. Seemed to be a more streamlined process this year. We did stop and get wine at a party store, which I probably would not do again. We really did not drink in our room, so a waste of time there. Save the cork fee per bottle (15$) and the hassle. Drinks in the Atrium bar/reception area before the PJ party at night on the pool deck (Lido, whatever;) ).If you saw the 'herd of zebras' in PJ's, it was us!
Sail Away Concert Weds. 3/6:
Fun in the Sun. Chilly in the mornings and evenings (with a breeze), but warmed up quickly... 75 to 77-ish during the days...)Shots of Devil's Cut for a toast before the big concert moment. Not a whiskey drinker, but sipped a couple shots down while listening to KR and TBT's. KR in long sleeved pink shirt with black bermuda shorts (I purchased similar pink shirt at TSC (Tractor Supply Co... I think my peeps were slightly mortified that the majority of my clothing came from Meijer or TSC--LOLOL!!)
HOLY HADES--Trombone Shorty/Orleans Avenue Show at 10 pm...their first show on the cruise. I am 2nd row center, because I have been waiting for this. Most of my peeps are waiting for Robert James' show to start at 10:30, so Mama Ho joins me (you saw her-Granny in the wig!!!)Third song in (Mrs. Orleans), and guess who shows up and does a 23 minute jam session with T-Bone and Crew, and pulls Hershel up to boot--Yep, Kid Rock! Freakin big time. Shorty's show ends, and Mama Ho and I head over to hear the rest of Junior's show, which was packed. I couldn't really concentrate on his music this show, but would later. KR showed up on stairs to take it in.
Went to bed early (11:00 pm?)
Thursday, 3/7: Redneck Paradise
Nice day on the beach with good friends and Heineken. John Eddie and Band did a great job- always a pleasure. Caught snippets of Lucky Bitch contest...Gina from Detroit I think won? Congrats :)
Laughed our a$$es off at Speedo Contest. Aaron (winner) truly did prepare to win. His wife and her pals choreographed his moves for days, and I must say I was impressed. He didn't even have to pull out the 'big gun' (which others did, to my surprised delight.)Cockman underpants was a hoot, and I have to 'hand' it to the 'So Hott' Sisters for making it such a fun time! Dave Dude (last year's winner), you were still special. Loved the picnic table dance and the crowd dives.
Had to see Trombone Shorty again. Showed up at 6:30 pm on the Pool Deck. Staked out my front row center spot. OMG can I say AMAZING AMAZInG AMAZING?? I coulda touched his freakin leg if I wanted too (which I thought about, but really, did not.)The whole band is on their late 20's or just 30. They have been working their a$$es off for a few years now. Professionals. Talented. Gives me hope for the future of music. T-bone even has a foundation set up for kids who cannot afford music. My wish for this exceptional young man and his band members is that they do not get sucked up into the usual wastelands of the music industry. Stay away from the $hit! and stay TRUE to yourselves! RSMS offered T-Bone a beer, and he said he doesn't drink. Her reply was..'I love you more.'
Jammed to Lukas Nelson (another Holy Hades!)-*Story Cont'd at end of posts-*
Saturday, 3/9:
Saturday, 3/9:
Stumbled to the buffet in my Spartan PJ's at 7 am with the peeps to get breakfast. Crawled back into bed hurting like a MFer and woke up at 12:30. Guess What? Got a letter saying my ? got picked for the Kid Rock Q and A at 5 pm--F**K!!!!!F**K!!! Holy $hit! Take 4 Imodium tabs and try to get normal.
So I'm Q. 17 out of 25. We are all shakin like a leaf on a tree. My question was something like "We are excited you are doing a couple of shows with Bob Seger this tour. My fave Seger tune is 'Heavy Music', what is yours?" Hell, I don't remember a thing after that. I think I hear him sing 'Nutbush City Limits' at me. I walked off stage and shook some more, got a Heineken and finally calmed down, for Chrissake.
Went to Kid Rock look alike contest. Kev from Canada, you are good. But my man from Salem, MI still rocked big time with his rhymes.
Saw Big Rock Show later (the drummer worked his a$$ off, btw.)...then off to see Scott Munns in Bar City till all hours. You are funny Scott, but less drinking during the show, dude ;)
Overall Impressions:
The ship was def nicer than last year. Cleaner, classier. Food was better, but you were still sick of it by day 4. Bar service HUGELY improved--no waiting forever. Rooms smaller, but showers better. Wewere worried about the temps being cruise was March instead of April, but days warmed up nicely. Teh island last year was prettier, but this one was newer, so kind of under works still.
Suggestions for Improvement:
It kind of sucked trying to see the Sail Away Show thru the pavilion and slide. Prolly not too much you could have done there, but limited views. Stage at island not pointed toward water like last year..hence, less peeps in water for concert. I did appreciate that you started early tho so we didn't cook to death saving our spots.
Atmosphere: a bit subdued from last year. Not that I am complaining.
THANK YOU SO MUCH for a great vacation and time with friends old and new!
His response to you was
His response to you was adoreable, he gave you the respect and the care you deserve. If you look at Laurie's video he looks straight at the Woodshop girls and smiles. Too bad Mama ( Cheryl) was on the steps trying to get video. I missed a magical moment. But so glad Laurie has the video I let you down with my stupid battery. Was so mad at myself I quit taping after the remaining part of you question. Another big mistake. Live and learn as I have not found the entire segment anywhere. Hope Jr has it.
I completely feel like I got
I completely feel like I got my money's worth!!!!
LOVE YA A BUNCH!!!!

I certainly planned my shows
I certainly planned my shows much better this year and went to some more than once. Spen more time seeing new acts and revisting the greats such as Trombone Shorty and Lukas and Robert James. What great musicians. Spent less time seeing artist that have been on boat previously. Scott was somewhat funny but his jokes about buying everyone a drink got old and he needed to spend less time drinking and more time entertaining.
