    Can we help?
    rocksavedmysoul says (31 Jan '13)

Half a million kids live in poverty in Michigan. This number is incredible. According to figures released by Kids Count in Michigan Data Book, administered by the Michigan League for Public Policy, no area of the state was immune to declining conditions for children. This is so sad. Can we do a food drive or something at Kid's Michigan concerts? If we all do a little, collectively, we could do a lot. It could be called, Kid Rock Fans Care for Kids or something.

Laurie you are one sweet lady, kudos to you for the idea, and if Bob fails to act, then you should speak to FB KRLL, or FB ECF to help implement a cruise and concert tour program of food donation for those poor kids born into situations they would neither choose or wish on others...

Just saw this: "Help local families while supporting Michigan made food companies! Purchase any Better Made Snack Foods®, Dearborn Brand® or Faygo® product from your local ACO Hardware store and 5% of the purchase price will be donated to Gleaners!" (Community Foodbank of Southeastern Michigan) Way to go, ACO and Better Made!!!

What a GREAT idea!!!!!
However---I don't think this should just be a Michigan concert thing---wouldn't it be STELLAR if every Fan and venue--in EVERY state and city on this tour could participate in donating a can at the door? And maybe we could drop off canned or dry Cat and Dog food also---for our hungry little furry ones. We CAN!!!!!! Do This!!!!!!!!! :-)

Love it! I guess I was thinking of the donations on every tour stop, too. Thanks for saying it out loud :) I wouldn't want this to be an added burden for Mr. Ritchie, though, with so much on his plate already, so I hope locals who would benefit greatly from his get out the word efforts would organize the details allowing him to be free to be the inspiration and motivation for all his filling stadiums thousands of fans who want to be part of something bigger than themselves, giving them a chance to give like he did with his Care tour donations, and still show their love and support of him and Our Villagers. Spreadin' the love and encouraging each of us to stand up and do our part...ahh, a Precious Rebel Soul, indeed!

Bob could post it here and then let his people handle the rest with the venues. Each venue could handle the responsibility of collecting the cans at the door and getting them donated to the right places. Hell, maybe the venues could contact the local food banks and have their people handle the collecting of the cans and distribution after. If there is a will---there is a way :-)

Amen, Sista!!!

If Kid asked everyone to bring one can to drop-off boxes outside the arenas, I think they'd fill up pretty quick. The Dow seats about 7,000 or so, Van Andel over 10,000. That's a lot of cans if everyone even just brought one. Kroger has canned goods for .59 cents this week. I know food pantries are running low. Everyone helps to fill them up when they have the Christmas spirit in December, but by January, those shelves are empty. I have witnessed it myself, visiting a shelter recently in Washtenaw County. It's really sad to see. These pantries provide a bag of food for families who are the working poor. It helps them stretch their paycheck. Many are single moms who just need a little extra help. I am sure an agency would be happy to pick up those cans and have volunteers on hand if it's all prearranged. The media could get involved by running a story a day or two before the concert to let concert goers know about the plan. Between KRLL, facebook, and EKR and some other groups, we could also get the word out. Again, there are HALF a million kids in Michigan who live in poverty. These kids are innocent. They were born into the situation they are in. Wouldn't it be nice to know that as you are enjoying a kick ass concert, you have also helped to feed a child as well?

I agree, RSMS. I can afford 59 cents and I believe in the hearts of Kid Rock fans...they are a mirror reflection of his kind, gracious, generous, and loving soul. Some food in their pantries can help stabilize families as infrastructure is built to help Our Villagers help themselves. We can all help ourselves as we help our neighbors...one penny at a time.

I've been thinking a lot about community centers...lots of potential to teach how 'to fish'. Building infrastructure for people to join together to help themselves and support with friendly faces to let our neighbors know they are not alone. I see prime historic community buildings for sale, but I don't know enough about locations and logistics to yet determine feasibility. But I continue my research...I continue to dream...for I am inspired, I see potential and beauty, and I have a dream.

WOW, talk about inspired,..lets buy a building. Who in Michage will step up and get the ball rolling in the D on behalf of KR's fans? I cant wait to vist the place and see all the good works,..where's the button for my part?

Thats a good idea, but dont people in proverty get food stamps and asses to food banks,...How about a mentor coalition,..many possiabiltys,.pull up in a neiborhood, whip out a table and lay it on em. Food for thought that is.,.but a grill with winners would be nice to.
