Kid Rock
Michigan Citizen Action and the Fan Freedom Project are warning consumers about the restricted ticketing policies in effect for Kid Rock's April 5 and 6 shows at the Dow Event Center in Saginaw.
The groups say fans will want to review this relatively new ticket policy closely before purchasing tickets to the shows, which go on sale this Saturday, Jan. 19 at 10 a.m.
According to Ticketmaster, restricted tickets will be used for some seats at the Dow Event Center Kid Rock concerts, requiring fans to present the credit card used to purchase the ticket and a valid photo ID at the venue in order to gain admittance.
Restricted tickets are also non-transferable and cannot be given away as gifts or resold should a fan not be able to attend the event.
"Buyer beware," warned FFP Consumer Advocate Elizabeth Owen. "If you purchase tickets as a gift or on behalf of friends, make sure you read the fine print; they may not be able to enter the arena without you or you might end up with a ticket you can't give away."
According to the groups, in 2012, eight major concerts in Michigan utilized restricted tickets, leaving many fans frustrated when they could no longer use their tickets but were forced to let them, and their money, go to waste.
"Purchasing tickets as gifts for family and friends is a common practice," said Linda Teeter, executive director of Michigan Citizen Action. "Anti-consumer policies like restricted tickets unfairly strip fans of the freedom to give away, donate or sell the tickets they rightfully own."

I am not looking forward to
I am not looking forward to this. My Nashvegas show will be this. I am hoping i don't have to work the night before. If that happens i will be there plenty early. I will check with Bridgestone and see how soon we can pick up tickets with this paperless system and then go as early as i can get myself there.
It is a pain but i understand why Kid Rock is doing. He is trying to cut scalpers out of the picture so i am cool with that. It will be a pain, but if you are a fan you get it and will go along with it. I suspect it has helped trim some of the scalping out but not all of it. WOULD be nice if policing type of officials would get serious about the rest of them. But like i have said before they don't give a shit unless they can get some ink out of it like a drug bust or money laundering.....They don't give flying rip about fans getting ripped off of hundreds of $ for tickets...IT isn't their problem is just about what they would say.
Yes, we all knew this I
Yes, we all knew this I thought...paperless tickets. This is to avoid scalping.
I think it's a good idea,
I think it's a good idea, hope it helps to reduce scalping. It does plainly state on Ticketmaster's site when you purchase tickets that it's paperless & that you can't transfer tixs & you need ID & credit card used to enter venue. Just will take some getting used to for people, I like your idea of an email reminder of the show you're attending is a paperless event & what you need to bring reminder.
I understand these policies
I understand these policies are in place to reduce scalping, which is commendable, but it will take getting used to. I expect a lot of folks will show up at will call windows without the necessary photo id's and the exact credit card used to purchase the ticket, and will be heartbroken if they cannot get in. Think it will be a helpful reminder if folks post prior to the shows about the needed information on all Kid Rock sites and FB, so that as many as possible are reminded.
I better review my Toledo
I better review my Toledo show policy. Thanks. I would have forgotten to bring that credit card!
RSMS and I were just talking
RSMS and I were just talking about this yesterday...My show at the Dow on 4/5 has a 'paperless' ticket (ID and credit card to enter), while the one Laurie got me for 4/6 she was able to transfer to me via Ticketmaster. You will be able to tell which is which when you check out.
Michigan Citizen Action obviously isn't looking at the issue from an 'anti-scalper' point of view, but is trying to protect consumers from a frustrating situation at the show.
