My New Favorite Song Is 3 Catt Boogie

LOVE it. Was able to listen to it over and over in the confines of my vehicle (which we all know is THE best place to blast music.) I had listened to the album 2x when we had the Itunes preview--how did I miss this gem? I am already trying to hone my dance moves (aka Elaine Bennis)
to the song--sort of a go-between of John Travolta's 'fish eyes' dance in Pulp Fiction and The Shimmy. Just Sayin
What do you all think of 3CB??? The lyrics rock, the beat is freak...how can you not wiggle?

I love, love, this song especially the little riff at the beginning. It kinda reminds me of Motown mixed w some get up and boogie. Love the message, love the humor. Right off it was my favorite. I had it blasted in my challenger rt pulling into church and you know what?, I can get away with it.lol I have listened to it over and over dancing thru the house until my husband just rolls his eyes or comes up behind me to try and bump and grind. Lol. He tries to use every opportunity he can to his advantage.

3 Catt Boogie has great music in it. The lyrics are are easy to sing along with (you know, in your best "car singing voice" :) I think it is funny at the end it says that "Bobby's upset because ain't nothing changing". Makes he think he was referring to Obama/the upcoming election because Obama's campaign 4 yrs ago was "change".

I guess if i had to pick the song i like best it would close between Let's Ride, Midnight Ferry, & Rebel Soul. The Mirror deserves honorable mention because he pushed himself to reach out and it poured out in the music and the song. The ones i don't really care for are Cucci, for obvious reasons. And then i would say Cocaine & Gin. Cocaine because it is a typical song to me...it broke now new ground. Music and lyrics do nothing for me if they don't stretch you to grow. People expect a Cocaine & Gin song from Kid Rock so why appease them? I wonder why he don't write a song about who he truly is. Yeah i know he parties...but why not really put it out there who he is in song?

Good points, Ajay...
Let's Ride was my first pick out of the pen--just solid Rock riffs.
I think Bob is telling something of who he is through the lyrics of 3 Catt (at least politically), and The Mirror. I don't think someone can write lyrics like The Mirror without truly feeling that way, and he has written or played songs like that before.. 'Cold and Empty' comes to mind..and if Mirror is autobiographical, wow...'I feel like I'm gonna be left here on my own'..
I think the song 'Rebel Soul' would have sounded better in a lower key on some of the verses, but that's just me. It sounds like he is reaching on some of the lyrics in that one...too high.
Maybe this album is telling of who he is..someone who mostly wants to enjoy life (Happy New Year), have fun (Celebrate, Red Neck Paradise, Cucci-lol) pay homage to things important to him (the troops (Let's Ride), Detroit icons (Detroit, Michigan), rock and roll icons (Mr. Rock and Roll)...Midnight Ferry (despite the hallelujah) and The Mirror both have loss and pain written into them...Cocaine and Gin may be just one of those songs meant to exorcise the overindulgence of his past (present?)demons: women, drugs, and drink.
Guess I took to many philosophy classes--lol!!

Good,.than maybe you can help with more details of your peception when you wrote in parenthsis Despite the hallelujah: that inplyles to me,..and please this is way Im asking,...its a very sacred word,...that you think he my be mocking certain standereds. Is my impression wrong?

KRSVal's picture

I think your impression is correct...
If you listen to the song (upbeat tempo with the Hallelujah heys), then read the lyrics, they don't seem to match. Sounds like someone traveling through life, thinking that is all they can do, it doesn't matter, etc. It talks about ruin, sideways sins of yesterday, drowning away pain, no one left to live for..the poet is seldom heard, the preacher is seldom heard..
Nobody co-wrote those lyrics with him. I am confused with the'and carry on my way with yes the world'. I thought at first it meant that despite all of these dark things, the traveler would rise above (hallelujah), but the 'don't even matter' lyrics persist to the end.

I respect your interpation and perhahs its true,.But to me it repersent rising above the filth man makes and making the best of what you have without hurting others althought they may hurt you and/or perhaphes you go along with them in order to sustain what ever matter it may B. It dont matter Hallelujah yea. Belive That!

KRSVal's picture

I see what you are saying now..I mis-interpreted your phrase about mocking-interesting to think about! Perhaps despite all of the bad stuff- there is a hallelujah still rising..

Yeah such as the school shooting today,.That fella decided not to carry on anymore I suppose,..it wasent funny but the commtator made a statment that the shooter didt see thoses children as human,...hum I disagree I think he saw the value.

That's the one that makes me rock too. Try putting them in a random list with others and see how it stands up.
