I would really like to change the mission statement too "Helping those who believe in hard work and the American Dream in there time of need." maybe leave out "time of need" - ?? I am so sick of seeing all these bullshit charitys give shit too undeserving families and people who keep having kids that cant afford them, etc etc - i wanna focus on helping people who are already trying to help themselves, people like a young jon brabbs, etc etc....will always help kids and veterans etc, but focus on real shit from people already doing good things who may be struggling a bit.

My dad has always said "I dont mind helping someone that is trying to help themselves but the ones who just want a handout and just want to sit on there ass and not do anything can kiss my ass." My dad has been on his own since the age of thirteen, is a high school drop out and now he has his own home he bought and paid for without any help. Raised me and my brother, keep food on the table and clothes on our back without any help from anyone except my mom. He was able to do it by pure honest hard work. If he can do it coming from nothing. Anyone can. Couldnt agree more with what Kid Rock says!!!!!!

How about simply stating..."Helping those who believe in working hard to achieve the American Dream, because dreams and hard work is how America began and they will help to keep her alive."

Hey, that's pretty good

Couldn't agree more! For those who are upset with his comments, he clearly stated "i wanna focus on helping people who are already trying to help themselves". There are people out there who REFUSE to help themselves and take advantage of the system, I wouldn't put them in the same category as those who CAN'T help themselves or those who are trying to help themselves! That is what I get from his statement, and I personally couldn't agree more! We have people out there working the system, which I basically see as stealing from those who really need the help, those are the people I would think he is talking about! Obviously anyone who really has a disability is NOT working the system and those are the people we want to help.

I couldnt agree more! Ive worked my,ass off all my life. Rarely have I not worked two jobs: I dont wanna complain, as its my job to take care of me, not the goverments. I cant believe the fkn handouts ppl get, and all the losers on disability who are totally capable of working, all the fkrs who get free.food every month, schooling paid for,fkn free medical, etc....when they arent even trying to help themselves. It pisses me off tht I bustass all the time, everyday and always hv while I watch the losers taking handout after handout. Even tho it sucks,im proud to be a hard working blue collar chic who has never been given a handout, who has worked for everything she has! I dont hv much, but I have PRIDE! And im most proud of working all the OVERTIME so I can follow Mr. Kid Rock around the country VIP on all his tours. Hoping to make enough money to get on tht damn cruise next year rather than sitting on the fkn waiting list like i am cuz I couldnt afford it when the presale was on. Talk about stress and disappointment. Nothing's ever easy, well not for us hard working COOL people tht dont live for fkn free! Rock oN Fellow Kid fans, Rock on. -Lora

I feel if there's gonna be disability, welfare, and medical assistance then gov needs to have case workers who are not just in an office doing phone interviews, looking at income, records, and making a decisions... it has to go way beyond that. There has to be investigators, more programs that help stike down on assistance dwellers and crampers..(ha I like that someone said that) There has to be programs that are designed to get people off the system and back to work.. if capable of work... they should be doing some sort of work or volunteering... maybe an incentive to perhaps credit towards furthering education.. idk but the system now is seriously being taken advantage of... I think Obama needs to work on that system before he starts on his Obamacare, for sure.

Agree that disability fraud and government fraud (yikes, esp. Medicare/Medicaid) need to be a priority and always should have been one. However, I doubt Obama will risk the backlash of implementing these types of changes when so many folks are out of work simply because there is no work to be had. One of the reason folks are so desperate now is that they have lost health insurance with employment, a scary prospect if you have kids. I recently reupped for SSD, the full review. It was scary and thorough. Took two months to review all the history, new med tests and documents, and the person who handled it had the burden of doing 200 other clients at the same level of medical difficulty at the same time. Crushing burden of work. Yet, some folks just get a letter in the mail after the first questionnaire. Seems like the SSD system is littered with political corruption. Don't blame folks a bit for being pissed watching a guy next door on Workers Comp build a new concrete desk and patio while collecting benefits. Or how Union plans allow almost full compensation for disability (80-100%) while the rest of us gets by with an average of 60% of their annual income prior to disability. It's a vital return to work incentive. Out of that, subsidized housing takes 30% each month base rent, minus your oop medical expenses once you hit your state's poverty limit percentages. Unless you were rich before, you sure as shit will not be rich on disability, lol. No matter what, we cannot lose sight of our most precious future resource, our children. I will be damned if I live in a country that allows innocent babies to starve.

To Bobby Shazaam.. I'm late to the draw because I was not on here for a few days.. celebrated the ol man's 39th birthday.. made some left over turkey bbq with coleslaw and baked a cake for him.. bought him a bottle of Red Stag and we stayed up all night drinking, eating, and playing cards and being merry. What I find funny is we just had a conversation about how we both feel about people taking advantage of the system.. I don't have enough fingers and toes to count the ways but I do find it disturbing. Examples: One of my past co-workers, making the same as I was, showed me how she gets food stamps and medical assistance. Her husband and her own a low income apt building downtown.. not the greatest area.. but she would claim stating that her husband and her were separated... he use the apt building addy and she would use their home addy.. making it easy for them to override the system and take advantage. Well now this is the same chick who would always be on the cell phone at work, texting away.. where others you would always find faithfully working.. kinda sad she still has her job and I don't, eh? Talk about not being fair. Example: It takes a full time employee to go thru all the disability claims at the psych office, send over records and what not. Piles and Piles of claims.. and ya have to wonder how many of them are false claims... which in turn makes it hard for the people that really do need to be on disability. Example: This was the conversation that we were having yesterday morning from a topic in the paper... I struggled with the thought that most people who are going to the pantry already get welfare and food stamps.. perhaps the assistance is not enough with feeding a ton of kids.. but I can't see people taking advantage in all that is out there as aid.. vs the old homeless vet who lives in the woods with no socks or shoes and doesn't look for handouts. Thanks, Bob, for speaking out on what a lot of us are thinking.

Also RJ, thanks for sharing your story of struggle. I can not imagine losing your best friend, love of your life, and then picking up the pieces with 3 boys to nurture, health issues, and two degrees to boot. I have been finding a lot of hope in many stories out there as of late... your is no exception. What I miss most about the job that I lost is the responsibility that I had with it. I enjoyed the responsibility of getting up every morning and going in to add to our incoming finances. I enjoyed the responsibility of sending in claims to make sure those therapists got paid for services rendered. Losing responsibility seemed like the hardest part to overcome. The same folks that said I was "One hell of a billing clerk" also said, "We have to let you go because you are not bilingual, yet out of all of our employees we see you with having the most potential of growing with perhaps a college education" Talk about someone who needs to seek counseling..HA! I appreciate your sentiment of adding my name here, RJ.. but lemme tell ya, I pride myself in putting up a good fight, working hard toward a goal, and Mr. Ritchie has already gone above and beyond his music to give a lil ol snow bunny like myself some much needed hope. May God bless you and yours

Woa Ms. Rebecca Ja'nean... I totally get the not judging piece. I disagree with not having real psych care in the US... we DO but most working folks with private insurance put that sort of thing on the back burner of importance because of their coverage. What comes first... a few Christmas gifts for the kids, repair the car, or seek out that psych treatment that ya always knew ya needed. Matter of fact, it's a matter of choice really.. hmmm.. should I spend the money for a Kid Rock show, cruise... or should I finally go and seek out the social anxiety issue that I know I have... um.. welp, I tend to find my therapy somewhere at a Kid Rock show where I have tons of interaction with people...lol ~Priorities Straight~ For the most part, it's all about choice. Truth is, while I was working for the psychiatrist and therapists... 85 percent of their client's coverage was thru medical assistance, inner city facility. So in essence, their business would fail if they didn't have all their clients who have medical assistance, and I've seen what assistance pays per therapy session and it's not much. Let's say 90 bucks for a individual 90 min session, they get about 20 bucks back from MA. I thought their mission statement was simple and to the point.. "People are Valuable" They mostly hired Bach. degree interns to keep down the costs. These cats are making less than my husband who holds a blue collar 'truck tire job'... works his ass off but has less than average education. Tho' I'm very proud of my hard working husband, it kinda makes ya wonder if it's even worth seeking a college education in some fields because of the pay I have seen. But I come from a blue collar family.. lessons of hard work pays off.. looking at my parents, I sometimes beg to differ on account of what they have now, yet I have learned and prided myself on the fact that I have never sought assistance... and will continue on that path.

Well said! I've seen a lot of former co-workers that have had to struggle in a way no one ever thought would happen here, since the GM plant went out of my city. Where I am working now the temps. are like a revolving door with no work ethic and looking for a way to "play" the system. Seen a few that the state made come to work to get them off the welfare train vanish at break time and never return after 2 days of working there. I know factory work isn't for everyone, but people need to take a little pride in themselves and realize sometimes you have to do what you don't want to , to get where you want to be.

I wish so much that people that really need help could get more of it . My husband and myself live in Mississippi and until a few years back he drove truck he lost his job over a 35 dollar speeding ticket which the co. was supposed to pay we ended up living in the woods for two and a half years he is a veteran and two years he had a stroke luckily that to the hud vash program for now we have an apt my dream was seen today a house with a fenced in yard cause we have to very sprited dogs that when saved for 38.000 dollas I wish we could go to the Va and get a GI loan for a home but now they don't want to do anything for Vets My husband was eight years army and never needed to use his benefits Ihave no family but him and there is nowhere to turn for help that is why I collect any blankets clothes hygeine products and food to help any one I can but soon I may be living back out there again Like they say Jesus Was Homeless! But tonight i will pray and pray and if the good lord shines on us i'll have a home! Love your music Hope to see you in NOLA!

I love what you are trying to do...helping people/families that have found themselves on hard times and really need a helping hand to help them get back on their feet. I would imagine that it isn't easy finding those types of people, as they aren't the ones trying to get the free hand-outs. In most cases, these are the types of people who just keep plugging along day to day, trying to get by, and not expecting to receive help of any kind. They are discreet, determined, and just keep on fighting to make ends meet. It's people you hear about thru friends or family, not charities normally because they focus on specific people, not your average everyday, hard-working fellow American. Good luck with your plan and God Bless!

Ultimately, after reading this thread, and an oops post that disappeared (WTF), there is a good idea here. Stimulate businesses to grow who will hire more.... But is that the work of the Kid Rock Foundation? Or another charitable organization within your house? Be great to run a contest for entrants into a business assistance fund. You could really make something special out of it, even a documentary. Of course, you would also have to hand out contraception to all involved, lol.

good idea Blue - have a great night lady :)

I teach middle school in an urban setting and I could tell you stories about "those" who totally and completely have learned to work the system.......never working a real day in their lives. It sickens me, the entitlement is UNreal. Love all you do, Bobby!!! Keeping it real....

My dad taught me "God helps those who help themselves" I live by that. Who you give to is your business. It makes you no less charitable . god bless you bob. My dad's name was Robert (Bob).

Setting up a charity that helps pay the funeral expenses for war veterans would be an excellent place to begin!! I met with a Korean War veteran today whom I could not help. I could not help him or his wife. They worked so hard all their lives and have nothing but debt and heartache in their old age due to illness!! My heart has been breaking since first meeting this wonderful, gracious and interesting couple!! When I first met her and she shook my hand, the wife was so concerned how cold my hands were and tried to warm them with her hand! When I left today for the second time, the husband told me what an honor it was to have met me today! I had to leave them stranded and couldn't even help them, yet he was honored to have met me!?! I have to say, I am the one that was more than honored to have met him! A true American hero!! Semper Fi!!

GOD I LOVE YOU ROCK.... Amen.. If you cant afford to feed, clothe. house and raise children. Then keep your fuckin legs together . Charities and the government is not your babies daddy.. Everyone needs help once in a while, short term and thats ok. Most people feel good about helping others. But when its expected and goes on for years, well the feel good turns to taken advantage of.. If you are young and healthy, you dont need to be watching tv. You need to be out there helping the disabled and people that cant take care of themselves... Just my mean crabby humble opinion.. lol

...and doing jury duty so the rest of us can go to work lololol or volunteering 20 hours a week, and looking for a job the other 20, just sayin.. My very best friend in the whole wide world, who lives on the east coast, is a Dem, and we had this major discussion b/4 the election..we decided we would start our own party called the Republicrats, and all would be well with the world (sigh)

I get it, I get the sentiment. And I echo someone else who suggested helping someone out who is in the health field and dedicating their lives to help others. Some, like myself, sit on hundreds of thousands of student loan debt because loans are the only way to get a higher education in order to treat military and veterans. It takes a doctorate to treat PTSD and other stress and health issues our soldiers and veterans face. I'm passionate about this work, but the payments will last the rest of my career. I don't see foundations assisting those in the helping professions, at least not all that often.
KRSVal's picture

Kidgirl, good luck with your education, and keep on keepin on. A friend of mine is actually treating PTSD soliders in Colorado with a Bachelor Degree in Psych....working toward Master Degree- he is USMC.. So investigate if u can....
Beckxy's picture

I have struggled with the fact that to become a clinical licensed psychologist, helping children suffering from abuse, social disorders, and bullying.. or helping special needs children and adults would be my passions, but here in PA, you must achieve a Master's degree. At the end of the education, the loan amounts are phenomenal, which my guess would be like having a new car payment added onto your monthly budget... yet I truly love the fact that since we know we would be paying on this until we die, at least, we know that when we die.... the loan expires and it wouldn't burden family. Good luck to you, KidGirl

theres a fine line between helping your fellow man when in need.... and enabling the "terminaly less than energetic" (politicaly correct enough?)..... keep telling em the truth kid.... go Harry Truman all the way "i dont give em hell, i give em the truth and they think its hell"..... see you in springfield mo!
EVink's picture

I get it Kid, you want to help people out by giving them a hand up and not a hand out!! Way to go, I agree with every thing you said! The ones that are struggling and keep on trying and working hard should be rewarded and those who feel that they "deserve" something while not working to improve their situation and by not trying to help others in any way they can, in my opinion, are not deserving! Keep on Rockin and see you in Florida!
KRSVal's picture

The best thing anyone can do as far as charity is to help ppl help themselves, sometimes as difficult as it is. I know and acknowledge that there are those among us that will always need assistance, and I am Ok with that. For others, it comes down to confidence, character, pride, responsibility, and motivation. Our prez, in his first term, had such a great opportunity to help ppl get back on track. I was hoping he would use youthfulness, new ideas, and policies, and perhaps even his own examples of hardwork and what it takes to rise above (if indeed he had any) to get ppl thinking about moving forward ON THEIR OWN with limited governmental help. Instead, we got out of control spending ( which WILL continue--you Ok with that? Cuz I am not) and no accountability for handing out the goodies. Now evidently, most folks are Ok with this program, because he is back in office. So I guess most of the US would rather not have ppl learn how to solve their own problems-they just let the gov't handle it. This is an insult to all of us that DID learn, DID work, DID go without. So I can see why someone like KR could quickly become jaded, insulted, fed up, whatever you want to call it. Because I am, too. He is a good person trying to do the best he can. As are most of us. I just don't understand how or why so many ppl can see two so very different ways in accomplishing this.
