...Ok c&e...back to Rebel Soul. Now, you were talking about Prodigal Son, and Kid having more to say, but being influenced by others, mostly his country music friends. First let me say, that I think it's ok that we all have different opinions in music, and what we like, and what we don't like, and it's ok that you're not feeling this album, but I was just trying to get a feel for the--why not?? Anyway, as for my opinion, I think Kid Rock welcomes suggestions from his friends on his music, but I don't think he's dancing to anybodys tune... except his own. I also think it's like he said in that "if you feel it, it's real" and if you don't hear it (the lyrics) you can't feel it. Now, let's look at Chickens in The Pen for instance, since you mentioned Prodigal Son. I think it's some of the same lyrics, though worded differently, and with different music, but some of the same meaning...though not completely alike, and just my opinion. I think when he's talking about chickens in the pen, and the mule, he's speaking about his bad ass out there on the road, and the chickens are the groupies, and the pretty one on top, is the one he sometimes take to the dew drop inn, la la la, but the clock tickin' on the cock was also him, when after all that time, he still couldn't find love, and just people with no self respect, selling themselves short, just to be, or get something from him, and they just rock all night, until they do it again, everynight on the road. Yeah, yeah, I'm a little crazy, but it's my take on the song. And I could go on and on with my take on the whole album, but I won't. I will say, though I like Cocaine & Gin, I'm surprised it wasn't named Cocaine & Jim...and also, The Mirror is my favorite, and really, really deep into the soul of ones self.

and one more thing. why did you pick the name Cold and Empty? Just curious as to when and why, 'cause even in the video for that song, he kinda looks at the reflection of himself off the guitar when asking if maybe it's him thats cold and empty...much like The Mirror, and it being a reflection of himself, or ones self...hell myself.

The mule kickin the chicken isnt exactly what id call something id take seriously. N0 matter what it means (but ill listen to it again). Ok this is a thread about honest dislike and likes about rebel soul. So here goes.. I liked the first 3 songs. I felt it was building up to somthing big .. then bla bla bla .. cucci (kewl) them bla bla bla. I wanna give the analogy of getting ready got go off but then he goes first kinda thing. (hey u wanted honesty). It was way to country with old cliche's. I know alot of reviews say that but i have to agree. I liked the old rock n roll funk idea but It felt like the same old schick. It didnt seem original. Ok, about the whispering in the ear part... i stand by that. Music is a business. Even Kid rock is subject to that. And im only giving my opinion cause i love him like the rest of you, so (what was my point) oh yea.. he has people he bouncing ideas off of.. and someone says .. hey, lets do this.. bla bla and gives a good reason. So yea kid is now drumming to someone elses tune. Bottom line is (do i wanna be blunt or sugar coat it) it sucks. Or im being naive and hes not, then hes lost his edge, and it still sucks.

Hey, it's your opinion, and it's ok. As for Chickens in The Pen, for me, it's just f*cking funny, and like someone said, a good fun kick-start to the album.
