Ok, weird I don't see any threads/blogs in here in regards to Oct. 3rd and the presidential debate-pro's con's or what-ever for people to discuss. So I thought I would put my son's article from the newspaper today to give a bit of food for thought.

What we can learn from the debates
By my son
Coming up on Oct. 3, will be the presidential debate between President Barack Obama and presidential candidate Mitt Romney. This year is my second season of debate for my High School. As such, I will be taking a lot of what I have learned and what I compete with to analyze each speaker at the presidential debate.
Before I even begin listening to the arguments themselves, I first will look at each speaker. I will look for various qualities of body language. Examples would be if they are confident and open to the public or the opposite. I will look for their eye contact as well as listen to their speech to determine their confidence as well as their emotions from their tone.
After looking at these qualities, I will analyze their speeches as well as their answers to questions and issues. In debate we have what we call stock issues which determine who wins a round. The main ones that will apply to the presidential debate would be significance, how important the issue is; and solvency, if their plan will actually solve an issue.
Another thing we look for in debate is their advantages, what good will come from their plan that isn’t part of the problem they are solving.
In debate, one of the most important things, if not the most important thing, is evidence. Evidence shows reasons to support the plan and reasons to believe the plan will solve the problem. In debate, if you do not have evidence, you can’t compete very well. In the presidential debate, I will be looking to see what evidence each speaker will bring up to address issues and questions as well as to support their own plans should they be elected or re-elected.
This presidential debate will be one of the most important debates to me personally, as it will affect me and my future as well as the fact that this will be the first presidential debate I get to watch after debating competitively. I strongly encourage others to watch the presidential debate. For those undecided, I encourage you to look for some of the similar things that I described above to help you determine which candidate to vote for.
In closure, I will be watching this debate to learn a lot, and I regret the fact that I will not be able to vote because I am only 15 years of age. For those of you who can, I encourage you to vote as you can help change the future of America because your vote does matter.

My son just got done writing his article for this weeks paper on the art of debate and for the job of Vice president, importance, etc.. but I can't post it until it hits print so that'll be on Wednesday-too I just read Kid Rock is going to be introducing Paul Ryan tomorrow night in Michigan, should be interesting this week with the vice president debate-they only get one shot for their platform so it will be very interesting to watch to say the least.

I don't like to push my
I don't like to push my Presidental Choice on any one. With that said I Love the Forum but this is Kid Rock Forum and Politics no matter how nice or friendly it starts out, at times it can sway to a heated conversation. We as individuals make our OWN choices. I just don't feel this is the place to discuss politics. I don't wish to be taken wrong. Thanks for sharing your comments all who posted. I hope OUR FUTURE is a GOOD one in perspective and that who ever gets the Presidency keeps Our Nations Hopes Alive and we proper as a Nation. God Bless
Post (2) he said Romney has
Post (2) he said Romney has his record to stand on as Governor which Obama never had or could show he could handle situations like that and decisions like they are at hand right now in America-so that was a true plus for Romney-also Romney never backed down and tried to make clear his answers that Pres. Obama kept trying to beat into the ground cause he had no backup-he said by far Romney won this debate on so many levels and especially throwing Clinton back but on the reverse which Pres. Obama could not respond on-the one or two areas he felt Romney messed up was the Big Bird comment-as that will be a focus now for comedy and media and not look at what he really was saying and too Romney needs to not close with so much about God a little bit is fine but-because everyone has their own way of viewing that it could be taken out of context anywhere. He really liked that Romney brought up and talked about staying true to our military and thus staying true to the people and just all in all and Pres. Obama never said anything of that sort about our military and I'm gonna run out of room. So my son said Romney won this round in his opinion and I agree.
So we wait until debate 2.
My son said the Vice president debate should be somewhat entertaining cause Biden is just Biden-he too said that he didn't like the twitter feeds at the bottom of watching the debate cause it took away from the debate and the respect of the debate cause people are just tweeting and that is not the point of the debate so they were making it into entertainment instead of a very serious debate-so he was not down with the media/news doing that at all. Also in closing he thought the host needed a cup of coffee and showed bias which was not right for a debate. Okay enough for now, I'm not good at typing this much at once so I'll be back later if you like with more and if not that's cool but sure would like to hear other's opinions too.
Val-thank you and I'll let my son know you liked his suggestions :
(1) Well so this is a few
(1) Well so this is a few things my son pointed out as I was watching intently -he said President Obama came walking out with a cocky swager to shake hands with Romney and he said Pres.Obama was slouching at the podium not standing up straight he too said Pres, Obama used the oldest trick in the book in debate by bringing up that it was his anniversary to the people to draw on that card to start and too that when he spoke how each and every day when he is in the Oval Office he thinks of we the people and my son laughed and said ok but what about on the golf courses and all the vacations (more than any president has ever done in a first term) does he still worry and think about us then too? Too he could never answer a question but fumbled around it to more of just talking the same way he always has done and that his solutions, ideas have not changed. My son too did not like the fact that he brought up Pres.Clinton and what he did and totally acted like we never had 9-11 or the affects of that Clinton closed down the military bases to fix deficit and Bush had to get the military back up from 9-11 and then too got hit with Katrina and so on but still Bush did not spend as much as Obama has and he didn't like that Obama brought in another personal tactic using his grandmother and to throw Donald Trump in was ridiculous. I could go on but I think you got it-Lastly he said he acted like it was just him and only him Mr. President and doesn't care about getting along with government and or really what the people need or want but just what he thinks.
Romney he said should of gone after Obama more on proof of what he claimed he was going to do in the last 4 years and still has not and why should we give him 4 more to no avail-he said Romney was too soft on that and should of really hit him hard on that too on health care he was happy to see that Romney did not use his wife to prove a point but made it about everyone which meant he cares about everyone's health care.

I watched Gary watching the
I watched Gary watching the debate. It was very informative. It made me very sad to see them arguing over shit that we have no money to pay for. But thats ok, they will just print up somemore until our dollar wont buy anything, or we can just borrow more from China until we dont get to vote for a president.. We will have a chairman.. ugh So Fuckin sad,
Angel, I hope you changed
Angel, I hope you changed your mind, because some good stuff went down...
And OTB, thank you to your son for his valuable insights.
Tonight watching the
Tonight watching the Presidential debate with my son. I personally already know who I'm voting for and if my son could who he would vote for too! I too think the law should be past in all states to have ID to be able to vote-my son has had one since he was very little and they are not hard or expensive to get (take it out of welfare for those who say they can't afford it-since this system is so grossly misused anyways by some people)-I mean we should be able to know if people are of age and are an American citizen and are not voting more than once, but trying to explain it all to to my son is difficult, just as the college electoral vote-but my son is learning. I know voting is not until November but I thought I would leave you with a link to a clip from my all time favorite president with some questions and to think about while hopefully you are watching the debates.

This is just my opinion only and not to start drama but maybe have some open discussion from others as well -just to read and discuss points of view and to be civil to one another during the process.
It is well written. Good Job
It is well written. Good Job.. Unfortunately both the chickenshits wont allow Gary Johnson to debate with them because he will make them look like fools. I wont be watching. Neither of those candidates will do a damn thing to save us from a dying Dollar.. ugh
