Kid Rock Boosts Paul Ryan in Michigan

BLOOMFIELD HILLS, Mich. – Paul Ryan had quite the special guest at his fundraiser Friday night: Romney supporter and rock star Kid Rock.
The Michigan native, who sings Romney’s campaign theme song, “Born Free” appeared on stage with the vice presidential candidate.
“I was going to come out, be a little wisenheimer and say, ‘Guess which one is running for vice president?’” Kid Rock said, sporting his signature straw fedora. “And then, they would introduce Paul and I would walk out and say hello.”
That didn’t happen, but Ryan did name drop a song on Kid Rock’s album “Devil Without a Cause,” saying he’s been listening to him for a “long, long time and I am older than him, just to set the record straight.”
“So one of us is running for vice president, but only one of us listened to ‘Bawitdaba’ on the way over here in the motorcade with the Secret Service,” Ryan said.
“We take pride in people’s success, we don’t resent people for being successful in this country,” Ryan said, referring to Kid Rock. “Look at this creator right here – the fruit of his labor coming from his mind, his talents. He took his path to find his happiness, and he is realizing his dreams and he is paving his way. Only in America can you do this. That is what this country is all about.”
One hundred sixty people attended the event, according to the campaign, and there were three tiers of tickets to attend the events at the Oakland Hills Country Club in Romney’s hometown. The general reception cost $500, a $2,500 donation got attendees a photo with the Wisconsin chairman, and $10,000 to $20,000 was the cost of the VIP reception, held at a private home in the area.
As both Romney and Ryan did at their joint event in nearby Commerce Friday morning, Ryan explained how important Michigan is to victory.
“It’s a pretty clean and straight story,” Ryan told the donors, standing in front of both an American and Michigan flag. “We have a really clear choice to make. A handful of states are going to determine the outcome of this. Michigan is one of them. And the decisions we make, 16 electoral votes you pledge, they will very well determine the kind of country we are going to be and the kind of people we are going to be for a long time.”
Kid Rock will also perform at next week’s Republican National Convention in Tampa, Fla.

PS it would be nice if the
PS it would be nice if the general population could afford to purchase the goods/services that the job creators/small businesses have to offer--but that goes back to getting the economy going again (sigh)
The fair tax would work...LOL
The fair tax would work...LOL it's "fair" no arguments there
The problem with the housing bubble is that too many bad mortgages outweighed the good ones (obviously, lol). The government was pushing the bad loans by threatening the banks that they would not be protected from their losses via the FDIC if they did not lend--Government should have stayed out of the housing industry PERIOD ...(ring a bell with anything else??)
PS Chris Dodd and Barney Franck got campaign contributions from the very entity they were assigned to oversee??? WTF
RSMS has a very valid point. The whole time this $hit was hitting the fan with the housing market/boom/bubble, I was wondering how everyone and their brother was 'affording' a huge home...while we were conservative in our purchasing. Banks were prequalifying people for above and beyond what ppl could afford to MAKE MONEY off them--with the government's blessing!
I am tired of the games. Let's bring some common sense back to our country.
BTW Connie Rice rocked last night--and as far as Republicans not caring about education? Can you say 'successful voucher systems' in FLA and other states ?
Apologies, I'm fired up again...guess everyone will be until November..
I want the fed disolved,
I want the fed disolved, income tax disolved and a fair tax for all... Amen ladies
Absolutely rocksavedmysoul..
Absolutely rocksavedmysoul...I also pray for whoever has to deal with this mess....I own 5 cds...they are all KIDROCK...they go in the car with me and right back inside when I get home....they do keep me going...louder is better....rock on!!! and I'm an old lady!!
I agree with you 100 percent
I agree with you 100 percent Angel. Miss Priss, I agree the banks should be held accountable as well. Again, I PRAY for whomever is elected that they have the guts to do the right thing for us all rather than try to pander for political gain.
Now, back to Kid...I feel like hearing some Bullgod so I'm gonna crank it up REAL loud. I encourage you all to do the same. He at least unites us all. ROCK ON!!!!!!!
On a lighter, just one short
On a lighter, just one short year ago....Aug.28, 2011...I was in Atlanta to see Kid Rock and Cheryl Crow in concert...it was awesome....republicans, democrats, independents all enjoyed a great show!! I can't wait to see another one, if that's ever possible...enjoy your day everyone... :)
I'm so sorry about my soap
I'm so sorry about my soap box rants...we do have a big debt, but China isn't the largest holder of that debt, China is #2, we hold the most debt...."the biggest single holder of U.S. government debt is inside the United States and includes the Federal Reserve system and other intragovernmental holdings, U.S. Treasury securities (as of January 2012), while other U.S. intragovernmental holdings - which include large funds such as the Medicare Trust Fund and the Social Security Trust Fund - hold the rest. "
Boehner says repeatedly we will not raise taxes to pay for the wars, social security and medicare MUST be cut to pay this debt...they don't want to pay back Americans for their hard work....taxes are the lowest they've been since the 50's...more tax breaks for the wealthy while we cut social security and medicare, makes no sense.....we can't afford to honor our debts, we can't afford these wars
Rocksavedmysoul, I agree those who lived above their means should pay the price, but if you'll research it a bit, you'll find the banks found a way to profit by making bad loans, pelosi, frank, they all had a hand in this mess...but bottom line, banks found the loopholes and profited from them, leaving the taxpayers to pay the bills and suffer the consequences....banks don't ever and have never done anything they didn't want to do, they pay big bucks for lobbyists to insure that.... read some of William Blacks writings on this banking disaster, they knew what they were doing. Mortgages to poor people didn't cause this mess...
It is very unfortunate that regular people have suffered, sacrificed and will continue to do so, it's clear politicians look after whoever is filling their pockets...
Big oil should be able to survive without major tax breaks/subsidies if it's truly a free enterprise system....the corporate welfare/welfare to the wealthy will break us long before helping hungry and homeless people... just my opinion...I do love all who share my love of KR :)
I am neither a die hard
I am neither a die hard republican or democrat. I vote for whoever is the best candidate at the time. We do not pick our friends, family, jobs or rock stars because of who they support politically. Just saying for those who decide not to buy Kid Rocks' music, tours or cruises. Move over baby cause there are many in line waiting for your spot.
Dont even get me started on
Dont even get me started on Fannie Mae and freddie mac. Harry Reid, Barney Franks and nancy Pelosi should be hung for treason....
JMHO... I have been a
JMHO... I have been a diehard republican my whole life. I think Obama and Romney are both good guys who have great intentions. The unfortunate thing is they are more focused on getting elected than on saving this country.. NOTHING ELSE matters if you are broke. If you cant pay your bills and feed and shelter your family, nothing else is more important.. Thats how it works at your house and thats how it works in our government... WE ARE AS BROKE ASS AS YOU CAN GET! OVER 16 Billion dollars in debt to China... WTF So I dont wanna hear about healthcare and wars, foriegn aid or anything else we cant afford. ITS time to hear the hard truths and fucking do something about it. CHINA OWNS ARE ASSES... NIETHER of these good guys is going to make a change in status quo soon enough to save us.. I dont know if Gary Johnson and Ron Paul can do it either but at least they see the fire and know we need to act now or die... WE cant afford to be socially responsible, We cant afford to be big brother to the world anymore. WE ARE DIEING and its to the tune of a million dollars a day.. The American people need to wake up.. Republicans are no more big bad guys trying to screww the working man anymore than democrats are lazy mutherfuckers living off welfare.. We are one people that all want better for our kids.. Everyone hates on big oil companies making big money.. Well they better make big money because there stock holders expect them to. That is free enterprise and thats what makes the world go round and that what pays for research and a better way of life for everyone.. I just dont get how people dont understand this... UGh.. Ok done ranting and yelling. I love all of you and respect your opinions...
Are the banks truly the only
Are the banks truly the only ones responsible? Whose signature can be found on any mortgage papers? People thought they could "have it all" and didn't think about what they were getting themselves into. Many bought houses they knew they could never afford. Yes, the banks offered the loans, but at the end of the day, those people were the ones writing their signature on the dotted line. I feel for those who got into financial trouble because of a medical issue or a job loss. But frankly, I have had more neighbors walk away from their mortgages with little consequence to themselves. They are greedy and have no shame. They wanted to keep up with the Joneses. Now my home, which I have maintained beautifully, is worth so much less since the comps in the neighborhood are foreclosures. One friend just said this week her neighbor is moving because they need to downsize since they have so much debt. That same neighbor went on countless vacations and they lived the "good" life. Does anyone else make the correlation between the Roaring 20's which preceded the Great Depression? History repeats itself. The economy is cyclical. Be forewarned, the Bush tax cuts are set to expire in December, jolting an already weak recovery. The supercommittee, appointed by Obama, has dug their head in the sand for the past 13 months. Yeah, that's how you fix a problem-ignore it and it'll go away. Both sides will be pointing their finger at the other when hell does break loose in January. All I know is this: spending has to be cut. Val is correct. That's how I run my household, too. If I can't afford something, I don't buy it. This country's debt is out of control.
You don't have to agree with me. I am just stating what I see in my own backyard.
KRCVAL, yes thank you for the
KRCVAL, yes thank you for the civil debate...we can agree to disagree and still love kid rock!!
Here's a few sites that lay out the rep. plan from the beginning...as I've said before, my life the last few years has been devastating, from losing loved ones, business income declining and the destruction of an almost 40 year marriage....when I can't sleep I read way too much political news....I don't always find the correct words to convey my thoughts though...I want a better America for all of us and our children and grandchildren.

I think we both agree the economic issues would be much easier to work out if we brought jobs back to America....the social issues, well as a bleeding heart liberal who has literally given away my last dollar to someone who needed it more than me...I don't understand how the defense budget can continue to increase at the expense of the social programs....the elderly, sick, poor, children in America are very important...I do understand the need for defense, but what are we defending with all this unlimited money spent on tanks and planes we don't even use anymore...it really seems we're defending the profit streams of the already very wealthy at the expense of real American people....thanks for the comments...
Hi Miss Priss,
Hi Miss Priss,
No, I don't want big banks to run amok like they have for years and continue to do..that is why I mentioned reinstating the Glass-Steagall Act, which President Clinton took away when he was in office (that helped create the housing /mortgage crisis, btw)
I am concerned that you mention the sole purpose of non-Obama supporters as 'meeting and deciding to destroy his presidency, no matter the damage caused to the entire country'. Where did that come from? It sounds like a conspiracy plot. Even though I did not vote for Pres. Obama, I was excited to see what he would do with this opportunity; what fresh ideas would he bring to the table, what new solutions to old problems, etc. What I saw instead is an administration that thinks throwing money at the problems will somehow miraculously fix things. That doesn't work at my house, why would it work in the White House? Chalk it up to inexperience, bad advisors, whatever.
An observation: it seems as if Ronmey supporters are concentrating on economic issues, and Obama supporters are focusing on social issues. We won't have the money for the social programs (or anything else) if we don't get the economy back on track!
Anyway, I am encouraged to see a dialogue, becasue it shows that ppl do care, regardless of their difference of opinion.
I look up to my grandparents.
I look up to my grandparents. My grandfather with an associates degree first bought a gas station then 2 auto body shops, then a water company and became president and CEO , my other grandfather built planes for general dynamics and was a very bright man and made a very good name for himself and when he died and my grandmother remarried she married a very well respected Sergeant in the Air Force. My uncle served in Germany and came to the US and started his own construction company for building chain restaurants and is now retired and spends most of his time on his 110 acre ranch when he's not at home. My cousin although quadriplegic has a computer degree and has his own business. My sister is working on her Masters in teaching. My mom, well, she was just spoiled. She grew up on a huge plantation just outside of Burleson Texas and rode her horse to school and attended some college and married my dad who was in the navy and later divorced and married the Chief of police only to later divorce and remarry several times. I can say she did have to raise 4 kids so who knows? My grandmother was a dental hygienist , my aunt was one of the best ever stay at home moms I've ever seen in my life and between her, my uncle, and my grandparents, they taught me everything I know from manners, to hunting, fishing, cooking-mom did teach me some mighty fine cooking, and anything else you can think of. Now the guys won't hunt or fish with me. I'm too competitive and pretty damn good. Last fishing trip I caught the first, last, biggest, and the most. They gave up. One hell of a shot too! They probably could out shoot me though because some of the bigger guns are harder for me to handle especially when they kick. But I got it.
KRCVAL...I admire anyone's
KRCVAL...I admire anyone's success and hard work. I started working at age 12 in tobacco fields and never stopped working. My Dad was a hard working, blue collar union man who never had the opportunity to finish 6th grade. I know what hard work is. I know how hard he worked, the sacrifices he made to be sure his children had a better future.
I wish President Obama could have and would have done more to turn around this economic disaster. I can only imagine the different direction our country would be going IF, when he took office the other side hadn't met and decided to do anything and everything it took to destroy his presidency, no matter the damage caused to the entire country.
I admire any and all who are successful, but none of them actually got there alone, they had access to good schools, decent health care, etc...our children and grandchildren deserve that too.....we are all responsible for our own well being, but the deck is definitely stacked against the working class and in favor of the have mores who aspire to have it all. Your story of your hard work and education is a perfect example. Do you get the benefits of all the loopholes bain capital gets? NO, why should they get so much, and hard working people like you get the bills and the blame?
Government isn't our enemy...we need good government, and more of it.....not government that looks out for the profits of the big corporations at the expense of the working class. There is too much greed and corruption on both sides, but I really do think President Obama has and will try to right this sinking ship the working class is on. The rants I hear about all these new taxes and regs he's put in place are mostly because of the destruction caused without them...do we really want banks and big biz to have a free hand to make massive profits at the expense of the rest of us? I'll get off my soapbox now, I want a better America for all of us, rich and poor...I don't see that happening with R&R... :)
Rocksavedmysoul, you and your
Rocksavedmysoul, you and your parents are to be commended and admired. Congratulations, I hope your children and grandchild are even more successful.
My point is, nothing is like it "used" to be. My opinion was always, if a person didn't have a job, they just didn't want one...there was always a job of some kind for person who wanted to work. That just isn't true anymore. For some people, no matter how badly you want to work, for some people there is only occasional day labor that pays very little....
If you were college material, there were pell grants, loans, jobs to help you achieve that....nothing is fair, never will be...but things shouldn't be as unfair as they are now. There is nothing level about this playing field when those at the top get all the bailouts and breaks, while those at the bottom lose it all and are blamed for their desperate situation...
I'm not at all for handouts for every deadbeat, but when working people can't afford the luxury of healthcare, can't make ends meet while working any and every job they can find, there's something wrong in America and I really don't think R&R are at all concerned about those who are struggling to pull themselves up by their bootstraps when they have no shoes....kind of like a "rising tide lifts all boats", the yachts rise quickly, the dinghy's that sunk to the ocean floor have very little chance of ever rising again....we will all prosper, when we all are prospering....I don't see that ever happening with R&R...that's my opinion, you're certainly entitled to yours...enjoy your day :)
MissPriss, why is it that
MissPriss, why is it that when someone is successful, the suggestion is that it happened at the expense of someone else? That didn't happen in my family.
So tell me, what is Obama's plan for getting the economy back on track? Please spell it out for us. What specific things will he do, and why hasn't it worked for him in the past 4 years?
Did you know that 2/3 of the jobs that are created in this country are created by small businesses? That President Obama has made things more difficult for job creators by increasing regulation, increasing taxes, and increasing costs? MSNBC has been touting the' those things don't work' tired line for long enough..I'm living it here in MI!!
My husband and I are the ones who got the grades, studied hard, took out loans for school, paid them back, took on ALL of the risk to borrow money to start a business, paid for things out of our own accounts when the business needed it, put in the hours of work and toil--all to be told that we didn't build that? That the government/ everyone else helped us along the way with the money and the risk? Our parents helped with encouragement and example, but nobody else. But the Prez wouldn't know any of that b/c he has ZERO business experience (community organizing doesn't count.)
Nothing against anyone personally who comments here. I appreciate the input and viewpoints.
My parents worked multiple
My parents worked multiple jobs to raise FIVE children (neither had a degree). We kids all worked to attend college and we EXCELLED. Nobody ever gave my parents a thing. They DID pull themselves and their children up by their bootstraps. We had better come home with A's or there would have been hell to pay. So yes, really!
Our children and
Our children and grandchildren must survive today and tomorrow and the next day by having a roof over their heads, nutritious food, a good education, access to health care and parents that aren't working every waking hour to makes ends meet, to even have a future... good paying American jobs would go a long way in alleviating the debt/deficit . I certainly agree we must plan for the future, but our children and grandchildren have no future if they have no chance at a decent life now....bootstraps? really?...so many in the working class are working many part time and occasional day labor jobs with no benefits just to make ends meet, not much in the way of bootstraps to help them out of the pits of hell.....google is your friend, please do a little research and find out just how mitt has contributed to the demise of good jobs in American. I'm all for people working hard and becoming rich, but not on the backs of the working class....we all want a good life for our children and a better future for our grandchildren...I do fear the only children and grandchildren with any kind of decent future will be those of the 1%, if mitt/ryan control the country...I'm a very liberal democrat, even I would vote for a republican IF I thought they could fix this economic nightmare we're living. These two care about those at the top, nothing or no one else....ryans "miracle" budget isn't at all a miracle and does nothing to address the debt...his plan takes 40 years to get us out of this debt/deficit...there's nothing at all courageous about cutting programs that help those who really need help while lowering taxes for those who have continued to prosper greatly through this economic fiasco, their taxes are the lowest they've been since the 50's...their plan, lower taxes and no regulations has been tried and proven a failure, why does anything think it's suddenly going to create a booming economy and prosperity for all, it hasn't so far...
btw- I am reading Mike
btw- I am reading Mike Wallace's book and he wrote that a historian has pretty much surmised that Kennedy's Profile in Courage, which he accepted a Pulitzer award for writing, was actually ghostwritten. The book was part of a political blitz financed by Joe Kennedy to help his son win public opinion in his quest for the White House. I know Jack was no saint (womanizer) but it surprised me that he could stand there, accept an award for something he didn't do. I hate politics!
The debt terrifies me---what
The debt terrifies me---what kind of life will my children inherit?
Whatever happened to pulling yourself up by your own bootstraps in this country? My mom is first generation American. Her family worked so hard to provide a better life for her. She did the same for me and now I am trying to provide my kids the tools to succeed as well. Education and accountability will be key. But how do you change an attitude of entitlement? Good luck to the new president whomever he is. I still wonder what Hilary Clinton would have done had she been president? And for the record, I am an independent but Obama will not get my vote.
Shit........so it won't be on
Shit........so it won't be on regular TV channels? I have been waiting for the coverage on my local PBS station; they are doing the entire convention. Oh well.........as said, YouTube for my next Bobby hit. Already went through a long hot Summer in Michigan with no Kid Rock concert.

Yep... I just seen Stef talking about rocking it out tonight. Another guy on fb posted up a show bill for tonight too.. dated Aug 29th for some other place. Those are crazy numbers, Angel.
