Wow Kid! That was such a great speech for most likely partying from sunrise to sundown! I missed in in 2006.....That's when the nightmare of my dogs epilepsy all started...and would continue for 4 yrs. I missed alot of stuff in those years, but now I only miss him. Thanks for sharing!

Such rich history from which I can and want to learn so much. I’ll watch again (and again) to learn more. Thank you, WebCrew for posting this, & thank you, Mr. Ritchie, for sharing with us your extensive knowledge, wisdom, and humor…in the way I love that you don’t mince your words…you say it like it is…plain, simple, eloquent, and truthful. You respectfully honored Lynyrd Skynyrd, its members and influences, and touched hurting hearts with your kind words and obvious respect. No greater man could have been asked to induct, with such realness and honesty, a musical icon such as Lynyrd Skynyrd into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. My requested Lynyrd Skynyrd: Remembering the Free Birds of Southern Rock book from my ville’s awesome library is on its way to me. Smiles :)

PS Don't know what 30-second spot is showing up for the rest of ya, but love the Stabenow jab--just sayin' he heeee ;)

I have posted this before, but my friends (and old b/f-why he didn't get me a ticket, I don't know, cheapa$$-lol) had tickets to a Skynyrd show here in MI (never to be used) before the crash that claimed the lives of some of the band members. Everyone was stunned at the time, to say the least. I saw a documentary recently that interviewed the members of the band on the plane--one of the guys, whose ribs were sticking out of his body, reckoned he was in better shape than the rest, and went for help from the crash on foot. Thanks for doing such a good job on the induction speech, KR. The family obviously appreciated it.

You are too funny and yes, Amen to the simple man. Love all those crinkled up papers you always carry to your speeches . Simple man . Lol. I can't forget seeing Skynyrd opening for you in Dallas Texas. My neighbor who is an Engineer for Lockheed went to see them and we went to see you but boy what a double delight. Too funny. That was a great concert but still my favorite venue was Winstar which is like a high school auditorium and is so quaint that there is no bad seat in the house although I sat 4 th row south premium the first time and I think 5-6th row north premium the next time. Those were some pricy tickets but well worth it and I enjoyed the north side better with the press. The only regret I have is that the time I sat north I had almost joined the Winstar VIP club before the concert but said no I'll just wait til I get there and then I find out that they are doing a meet and great for VIP members. I tried to bribe the lady passing out the bracelets who was right beside me but it was sadly a no go. I had never heard of you doing a meet and greet before and I was so pissed but then danced my ass off and had a blast up on the first row because for some weird reason people were not leaving their seats as if they forgot it was your concert. Oh well, sorry bout their bad luck cause I had a blast in my plaid ruffled shirt, tight black jeans, high heeled boots, with my curly pony tail dangling somewhere around my ass as I danced all night. It was cold that night otherwise I had picked out a red, white, and blue strapless dress with spiked red heels. Man I was so sore and hung over the next day. Well worth it.
