Rock and Roll is coming to Michigan International Speedway, the fastest track in NASCAR.  Recording artist, and Michigan resident, Kid Rock has been named this year’s Pure Michigan 400 Grand Marshal.

Known for his award-winning music and philanthropic efforts, Kid Rock will say the most famous words in racing, “Gentlemen, start your engines,” in his role as the grand marshal for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Pure Michigan 400 on August 19.

“Kid Rock is a tremendous ambassador for Michigan and a perfect fit to serve as Grand Marshal of the Pure Michigan 400,” said George Zimmermann, Vice President of Travel Michigan, part of the Michigan Economic Development Corporation.  “He is a longtime supporter of Michigan – from featuring Pictured Rocks in his Born Free video to his work fundraising with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra and all he has given back to our state through the Kid Rock Foundation.  We are thrilled to have him join the fans at MIS on August 19 for the Pure Michigan 400.”

While Kid Rock is visiting MIS this weekend in Brooklyn, Michigan...he needs to know that he is only about 20 minutes from the Roadhouse Bar & Grill Restaurant (4112 Lansing Avenue, Jackson, MI) where Jackson County's hardest, most kick-ass rock-n-roll band is playing this weekend (Fri, Aug. 17th and Sat, Aug 18th)....Kid Rock HAS to see FAT BASTARD!!!! Please get this information to him ASAP!!! He will be glad he went...trust me!!! This is a band that shouldn't be overlooked!!!

@1bbshirlee - I'm not in judgement of QT here. My perception is that she's hurting. My mention regarding posting publicly deals with the very real threat our digital footprints can have on any of our lives. People can, and do, loose their jobs for things they leave online. As a teacher, she is held to a different level of scrutiny than other fields (whether "right" or "wrong", this is how it is). The following links refer to instances where teachers lost their jobs as a result of their online posts. They range from the clearly unacceptable [bigoted/hateful comments] to the fairly innocuous [a picture of a teacher holding a glass of wine]. All I am saying, is you have to be aware of what you put out there. http://articles.philly.com/2012-06-28/news/32442005_1_natalie-munroe-high-school-teacher-unannounced-observations http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1354515/Teacher-sacked-posting-picture-holding-glass-wine-mug-beer-Facebook.html http://winecountrymom.blogs.santarosamom.com/13037/teacher-facebook-photo/ http://abcnews.go.com/Technology/facebook-firing-teacher-loses-job-commenting-students-parents/story?id=11437248#.UB1bkKPYCSo This is the reality of the digital age.

Wow! Enjoy the moment!!!! What an honor...

you should know better than to post such things publicly. You could do untold damage to your career...I have fond respect for those willing to exspress themselfs wholeheartly: Boundaries and whats appropriate I think is a social class issue but more so individual: I think we've all had at least one "Mrs. Thompson" with a special cup of tea,.and try to remember if ya point a finger, three always point back at U...I sing the song cuzs I love the man I know some dont understand ew ew the damge done,.a little part in everyone (neil young)

@QT: As a parent, I would be concerned if you were my child's educator. Your postings are reflective of a woman who has gone through some difficult times, and for that I have empathy. However, we all have trials in life that can, at times, cause us great stress. I would encourage you to seek the help of a mental health professional, as you clearly have been through some great pain over the past couple years. I am sure it has been a trying time for you, and my prayers go out to you. But, you have clearly lost sight of boundaries in regards to what is and isn't reality. As I read your posts, which was accomplished by a simple search of your username on the site, I see a woman crying out for someone to care. But, your posts are not appropriate for someone who has been entrusted to set an example for eight year olds. Soliciting an total stranger to smoke weed with you, pleading for contact with an entertainer when you should be seeking the help of a psychologist...well, I would be afraid if my school district entrusted you with the responsibility of educating my child. I am certain this is not what you intend, however you need to take a look at your behavior here. At the very least, you should know better than to post such things publicly. You could do untold damage to your career. But, my greater concern here is that you could potentially do damage to children. Please seek the appropriate help.

cutie pooty tooty, I support your need for a fatty and thanks for choosing to guide others children: I can see the need for some to have a fatty especially dealing with twenty give or take "moldings" of our human race. Yelp, Its not for everyone!...I remember a KRC member once wrote " A girl can dream but a woman can make it happen"...You go girl! I with ya all the way and I sure hope I get there first...watch that oil gage.

@ QT....Too late to back peddle. You seem unstable. I think Bobby would be afraid to meet you at this point. @ Cheryl Loga....VERY well said sister! My son starts 4th grade Monday...just the thought of this frightens the hell out of me! Just when I thought nothing was weirder than Montana Ana's postings, this arose. @ Margo...I see your posts all the time. Nice to see you be a smart ass for once.:-) You are always SO FRICKIN kind! Enjoy the banter ladies :-o

@Qt, Really what do you think is ok posting about your 4th graders and what an inspiration it would be for them. What is the inspiration in you smoking a fatty with Kid Rock. What would you explain to the PTA? " I wrote this lesson plan after the fatty." I understand your love of Kid Rock as we all have it or we would not be here. But really an inspiration to 4th graders?. My family gets my Kid Rock love but then again I am their mom, aunt, sister, wife and grandmother not a teacher in a public teaching profession. I don't want to do drugs with him. I will not need support from total strangers if I don't get to meet him. Enjoy whatever you can in life without being obsessed with something that may never become reality. Life is too short enjoy your time at concerts, surround yourself with good family and friends. To tell you the honest truth you are a little scary regarding this subject and your post seem a little desperate. I think the majority of us who really follow Kid Rock can assure you he is in a happy place with his life at the present time. He does not need to meet us to let us know he is happy. I wish you luck with this, but I am afraid of your well being if for some reason it does not happen.
