Good morning everyone, I have
Good morning everyone, I have to send hugs and love to you all for everything you have done. Having special people in my life is what makes trials like this bearable. How does the song go..."stand strong in the storms of life"...and life goes on.
We are realizing every day what items we lost...all my recipes, all our videos (kids birthdays, vacations,dance recitals, music concerts, our wedding). I had pulled out of the ruble small pottery pieces the kids made me in grade school, set them down and got distracted by something else, forgot to grab them and I think they were tossed. I sat and watched as a crew of 8 brawny men shoveled and heaved all of our contents into a dumpster. Twenty five years in a dumpster. One hell of a way to clean my house!
Sad as it all is, I am so, so, so grateful for the love and kindness of my family and dear friends!
When I get my hands on Chris' computer I will download some pics.
We are staying in a hotel right now. My dogs love it! Air conditioned and elevators, like rich dogs live!
I like the free happy hour...3 free drinks every night! Gotta run. I will try to get on here more as things settle down. Love you guys...best damn dysfunctional family ever!

RSMS, thanks for the update. I'll bet all those folks that immediately stopped everything and compiled care packages feel pretty good, as they should.
Could someone ask she and her husband if they would set up a PayPal account? That way it would be super easy to continue to send contribs their way, as the funds become available. I so love the front of her house, and I hope she finds a contractor that will rebuild honoring the original design of the house.

Update: I spoke with Toni today. She said she is using absolutely EVERYTHING you guys have given her. She said Tammyray's package was just perfect. Tammyray sent her scissors, paper, and stuff like that. Brilliant idea. She said whenever she seems to have a need, she goes to her care packages from everyone. You guys are the best.
She is still in the hotel and is working on more permanent housing. She won't be back in her home until Christmastime. Her spirits are good and she's trying to make the best of the situation. She sent me a picture of a beautiful mirror hanging on her wall that was covered in soot. You can barely see the salmon-colored wall below the singed area of the mirror. Someone wrote the word "HOPE" in the soot covering the mirror, using their finger to make out the letters. She said she was able to save the mirror. So, continue your prayers for her and give her a text shout out if you can. Her husband is using his computer for work so she hasn't been online much but she says "HI" to everyone.

fire is a scary and devastating thing--most items can be replaced but photos, videos of family members and friends and precious mementos your children made for you can not..it's a tough road, but were tougher damn it and Toni and her family will get through this with a little help from her friends.....(and family) Sending my care package off tomorrow!!Still the same address?????

Enormous task, which might be a reminder to all that we should video our possessions or shoot pics, then give them to someone else to keep or put them in a safe box at the bank. Once you've been traumatized like this, I cannot imagine how hard it would be to come up with a list.

On fixed income, so trust me, it's not a lot, but I believe that you are supposed to dedicate a certain portion of your income to charity/emergencies whenever possible. Delighted we have so many good options, EyeCandy, LifeLine, and the Kid Rock Foundation.

I spoke with Toni late last week and she is trying to rent a home near her burned home so she can be close while all the construction is going on. This week, a company will come in and itemize absolutely everything in the house and list whether the item is able to be saved or not. She expects 400 pages. It will be time consuming and I imagine very emotional for her so please keep her in your prayers.
