    3 MILLION FACEBOOK FANS...
    ajay says (31 May '12)

I realize Kid Rock is highly popular and all but he has doubled his Facebook fans in the last year or so. What do you guys think is the reason....I think it is since Born Free came out...COINCIDENCE...i tend to think not. All the hardcore old school fans might want to take a look and consider it or think it over. IT is hard for an artist to crossover and gain ground in country but i think KID ROCK is slowly getting there. I saw BON JOVI crash and burn, Bret Michaels crash and burn and many others. Country/rock don't take to bullshit. They will weed out the bullshit. Just a thought is all...

It is hard to crossover for any artist. The easiest seems to be pop/rock crossover. They are like sheep, the fans that is. But country and country/rock is a bit harder of a conversion is all i am saying... I think country/rock is a better move though. It gives a bit of ground to do a song or two per album that doesn't really fit the mold. But i guess in the end it is up to old Kid Rock to decide his direction....

Another reason that Bob and TBT have grown rapidly is working with a long list of collaborators like this one: http://www.kidrock.com/news/kid-rock-collaborate-new-john-fogerty-album-139816
If folks that you support work with another artist, it establishes caliber ranking, respect, and a new audience.

I think he just started letting all fans on. I used to be on the first Facebook. I liked it better and then one day I had to unfiriend him because I had just started on Facebook for one reason, a friend of a friend knew Bobbie, And my phone start blowing up , ping, ding, ding, all night and I couldnt turn it off because I was on call for the hospital. I remember him saying something to the effect that he didn't have time to chat with fans and like any fan would, I had to remind him who put hime there and the phone started. He wouldn't friend me back after that and sometimes deletes my posts as he probably should because they may be more appropriate for messaging and not posting. Then on news he shows a
picture with his head tilted like a puppy , holding a stack of bills from the Canadian tour like see where my money
goes? I wasn't impressed because having to pay a stack of bills like that means you made a hell of a lot more money
Ffor which to pay them, and judging by the stack, it was probably so big he had to load it on his private jet and put
them in the many houses he has in order to have room for them. Just saying. Anyway it hasn't been the same since
and although I like this site, I miss the old Facebook. I even got a message afterward saying happy fourth of July
Rebecca ! And now that message has disappeared even in archives. Oh well, at least this site is a lot more user
friendly now but I still miss the old Facebook. Miss ya Ricky Bobbie, I'm mean Bobbie Ritchie- thank you baby Jesus for giving us Kid Rick- a little Talladegah humor. Lmaoritf

Think Bob made one of his smartest moves going with Nashville based Vector. Very online social network and fan savvy folks who give him the support he needs to crossover and satisfy his entire fan base. Born Free was crafted to target the biggest audience possible, a shame it didn't win a Grammy.

Combine that with a great live band/performances, low prices, and a return to his Michigan roots and his support of it...buddabing.

Culmination of a lot of planning and hard work. Think it's deserved, and that it's going to get bigger yet.

I kind of think Kenny Chesney took over for Garth Brooks with the country crowd.

I completely agree with your thoughts on this Ajay. There is always the next rockstar out there. They just take what they have learned and expand on it. Great example with Madonna/Gaga and Manson/Cooper.

Here is the article. Hard to say how long he had his FB page up in November, 2010.

Want to listen to Kid Rock's new album before it drops? 'Like' his Facebook page

There's a lot of Kid Rock fans out there, and we know this based on the ongoing commentary about his recent music video shot in the U.P. He's got a treat for you all.

Before "Born Free" hits stores and digital outlets on Tuesday, Kid Rock fans can listen to the album in its entirety on his Facebook page.

There's a catch, however -- you have to "like" the Facebook page (assuming you're a member. Wait -- you're not on Facebook? Catch up, man!) before you can stream the tracks.

The album kicks off with the single of the same name. There's twelve songs altogether -- sans the much-hyped T.I. and Mary J. Blige collabo -- and guest appearances from Sheryl Crow, Bob Seger, Zac Brown, Martina McBride. Incidentally, McBride subs for Blige on the song "Care," which still features T.I.

What are you waiting for? Head on over to Facebook.

You make a valid point about "likes" on facebook and getting Born Free for free.. Hell i didn't even know he did. I know he offered discounts @ various times and it was posted. Didn't know it was out and out free @ any time though.

Yes Bon Jovi are selling out stadiums to soccer moms....IT is kind of like if you watch the movie "Rock Star". They talk about giving the fans a certain amount of what they expect to keep them coming back and buying their music and seeing shows.

Music and entertainment is a very fickle business. You see the Madonna's of this day in age in Lady Gaga. Then you see the master Madonna come back out to play. I would be curious to see how well Madonna is selling her tickets. I haven't checked into it. But Lady Gaga who is using her same methods is major...Kind of how Marylin Manson sold the shit out of some records and tickets after doing the same type of methods as Alice Cooper.

Obviously it is very hard to be an original. Because most everything has already been done. I would love to see a Garth Brooks of sorts come out of nowhere and explode. He was original and only did his songs because he couldn't get anyone else to do them and yes he tried. THAT is an artist i would love to see and support in this day and age of instant gratification and disposable heroes. AND that artist doesn't necessarily have to be COUNTRY for me to back them. Just original....

Very cool that he as at 3 million. I would be interested to see how many new "fans" he got when he offered Born Free for free just for "liking" him on FB when it came out.

I'm sure there are waaaay more new fans than old school KR fans.

FYI - I struggle with this too, but Bon Jovi are still REALLY popular for some reason? Ticket prices are insane and they were selling out stadiums in 2011. I don't get it and I never liked them back in the day.
