Kid Rock With a Cause: Detroit Symphony Concert Raises $1 Million

Performing a benefit concert with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra on Saturday night (May 12) at the Fox Theatre, according to Kid Rock was "the best drunk move I ever made," have received the call while he was enjoying some post-show libation backstage in Louisville during the spring of 2011.

On paper it certainly looked a little...screwy. The likes of "Bawitdaba," "Devil Without a Cause" and "You Never Met a Mother****** Quite Like Me" hardly seem like orchestral fare, and the DSO has surely never before worked with vocalists who drop liberal F-bombs and sing about prostitute, pimps, drugs and debauchery. The orchestra may play Aaron Copland's "Fanfare for the Common Man," but the terrain of Rock's song is little more, well, common in the rawest sense of the word.

Great show at the Fox Kid but I hope we don't have a summer without a full all out concert here in the Detroit area. What would summer be in Detroit without a Kid Rock concert or two in all it's glory.

I agree wholeheartedly, CANDYGIRLPRES! Mr. Ritchie, you are a good man, through and through, no doubt in my mind. You shine brilliantly with God’s light!!! A light can’t shine through a perfect pot; it can only shine through a cracked pot. I was so happy to read that in a recent daily devotion and am still giggling because finally I have legitimacy of being a crack pot!!! Cracks me up! It makes me laugh like my dear friend makes me laugh in D3, whose smiling face and laughter I love to see and hear. I would so dearly love to just hang out with, laugh, and talk with my friend without all the pressures of everything else. I miss my friend. Got the sprinklers going and I believe God may have provided me a way to stay here in my new place of great spaciousness, which also provides my friend’s own guest bedroom, a bit longer. Ah, God is good to me.

Kid Rock=Amazing!!! Thanks for such a great show with the DSO! And congratulations for reaching your goal of $1 MILLION DOLLARS! It's too bad that more entertainers aren't like you...You have a real down to earth caring quality about you that cannot be duplicated!!Looking forward to seeing you again real soon. Kudos to you also for deterring the scalpers for this once in a life time show...The Fox Theatre really had their ducks in a row...It was a painless process to get in and the best part is that your fans got an opportunity to get the tickets first and use them:) I have lived in Michigan all of my life and I am really thankful for what you do for our great state and the city of Detroit. Music is my life...If you need to add anyone to your staff...I am your gal! God Bless You!!Missy

Can’t wait for the video ‘cuz YouTube has sparked my desire to see your whole magical show and watch how you artistically and masterfully were the center of it all yet included everyone at the same time. How do you do it? You amaze me yet again. Monday is good because I reaffirmed my belief in the power of God, prayer, and the foundation of a 7 year friendship to work through issues even when in a major transition. I have one more night and most of tomorrow here in Florence. Beautiful sunny day today and expected for tomorrow, too. Ah, God is good to me.

The videos are wonderful! Yet another opportunity for a DVD......just a hint! You KNOW they would sell out faster than demand could be met! So proud of Kid Rock and TBT for their love of Detroit.

Because he does CARE, a very wise man inspires me to SLOW MY ROLL - which I’ve definitely needed to do - but as a Libra, I also choose to balance his words with my life-long ability to ROCK ON. So I cinched up my belt (‘cuz of all the walking I’ve been doing), put on my cowboy boots and fighting Irish colors, and FOR THE FIRST TIME (IN A LONG TIME) felt the spark of part of me long lost in my ROCK BOTTOM BLUES. In TIMES LIKE THESE, I was resourceful to offer my talents and services to the local mom and pop place whose joy-sucking weekday waitress broke her arm (karma can be a bitch for some). FLYIN’ HIGH, I returned ‘home,’ reminded through His grace I was BORN FREE and that nobody puts baby in a corner because, even when my good deeds and a roommate’s own issues COLLLIDE, I am too practiced WHEN IT RAINS at making great tasting lemonade outta all those lemons. So I am living on the hope of this morning’s PURPLE SKY, taking my bedding off the clothes line, and thinking, indeed, GOD BLESS SATURDAY, but today ain’t such a bitch anymore either.

"best drunk move I ever made" Haha!! I'd have to agree...the videos I'm seeing on YouTube are pretty cool. Congrats on reaching the $1million goal :)

Great that Billboard picked up on your monumental offering to Detroit!!! I love that one of your mother’s favorites is "Purple Sky" which is one of mine, too! How touching and sweet you dedicated it to her for Mother's Day. I really, truly hope she had a beautiful day. There was a purple sky this morning as the sun was trying to peek over the Sapphires. I’ve been dreaming of reasons for a rendezvous, but painful reality sets in again, so after nourishing the greenery and hanging my sheets on the clothes line, I am off to the hardware store to return the sprinklers (so I can put gas in the car to get to 318) and take my final vacation walk through town. The drama of the initial onset of pain has passed as has my hope with each plane I hear, which has now turned into a bit of a cruel joke. Sucks when the pain of the lyrics so recently written come back to smack me freshly in my face and stab my heart again so soon...”my hope-filled eyes – dulled – ‘cause I finally realize, Cinderella, I’m not meant to be.” I am wiser for the wear. But life’s reality calls and my own work ethic has always been strong so I must press on and go where He leads me. You’re right, Monday’s just a bitch. I hope your Monday isn’t one. I’ll try to post again before I leave.

What an amazing opportunity, for Bob, DSO and all those who will benefit by his CARE! Would die to see Bob perform with any symphony orchestra, anyday! Best of All Things!
