Kid Rock and the Detroit Symphony Orchestra will try to raise $1 million at at their May 12 concert at the Fox Theatre -- but they won't be the only stars in attendance that evening.

The DSO and Kid Rock have teamed up to offer 10 premium tickets to U.S. combat veterans and their families, all members of the Michigan chapter of Voice of Warriors, a nonprofit based in Midland and Saginaw.

All the veterans attending the concert have suffered 70% or more service-connected disabilities from their service in Iraq and Afghanistan. Many of them are Purple Heart recipients.

They'll watch Kid Rock's historic collaboration with Leonard Slatkin, "America's Music Director," and the members of Detroit's symphony, from VIP seats at the Fox Theatre. The vets also will make a red carpet entrance at the concert's afterglow event at the Fillmore Detroit, where organizers have reserved them a private lounge.

This lovely article touched my soul, like you do, Mr. Ritchie. I am out of words – shockingly – at what beauty you create with your brilliant love light. See how everyone shines in this article? Your “village” leadership takes my breath away for your heart unites us in a soul-refreshing, oh-so-needed, way. We all must do our part, but the beauty of your soul and your musical artistry bring untold joy to villagers’ hearts, and mine, and His. I, too, am forever indebted to MCA, for his spirit lives on in you, in all those you have been inspired to help out, and in all of us who you inspire to do more. God bless you. No turkeys yet this morning, but another of my 2+ hours eyes-open-but-still-in-bed-mornings more than made up for it. I don’t know what it is, but I feel energized and joyful, yet still calm, peaceful like never before. Hmmm…? The peaceful easy feeling started last night even though I was TN sensitive with all my intense brain and computer work combined with the changing weather pattern. Guess I’ll enjoy it and not question it. Wish my often-overly-analytical-mind luck! Please and thank you. :) For the start of my vacation day, maybe I’ll treat myself again to breakfast at Glen’s around 10:30 when their 9:00 opening hours rush (hee hee) has passed and then enjoy my daily meandering around ‘town.’ So far, this particular Thursday is worth a whole lot more than s***! :)

This is another reason why I think you are just awesome. As a Vet myself, I see the love you have for the troops and it really makes a world of difference.

I am an imperfect human after all! Who knew? (Smiling Shoulder Shrug) I was hurt, lonely, and afraid last night but realized today I could take the high road not high and God’s post it notes led me to transitioning my energy and actions to the future. Not easy at all, but now I am healed, not heeled, and running (although I rather prefer skipping) out of here. He brought me alone to my Florence apartment in which lived a sweet Swedish couple with whom I am privileged and humbled to have spent precious time. He was a veteran and beat me at cribbage. When asked to sing at his funeral last year, after I had sung at his wife’s only a short time before, I told his daughter and her husband that I would do anything they asked. Well, they asked I sing a hymn in Swedish!!! As a girl, I entertained busloads of tourists with my grandma, by amongst many things singing the first verse of Silent Night in Norwegian, and so I said sure! And now I am here relishing my huge leap towards our future and smiling because the wild turkeys wandering the property remind me of your picture with you and your adopted father. All is well, my beloved.

Once again you do something truly amazing.. You have the kindest heart of anyone I have ever known. I was one of the lucky ones on this cruise that you invited back to your room after the dvd was over... We were having a conversation and you told me to please quit thanking you that you were getting paid for being on the boat..I know you enjoy being on that boat just as much as we do and it shows.. That night was the highlight of my trip... Talking to you and Uncle Kracker for hours was like a dream... I still cant believe it..It is hard to quit thanking you when you are constantly doing things like this.. You need to know that you are appreciated. I Love you and everything you do for our troops Vicki (Born Free)

Kid Rock and Crew, Thank you so much for honoring our nation's combat wounded with this caliber of an event. I am a US Army Veteran that was on watch in Korea the day the USS Cole was bombed. The Cole played "American Badass" on the way out and somehow you heard about it and gave a benefit concert and you've supported our military with countless benefit events since then. Thanks for doing what you do and giving the troops a little bit of joy in some of the world's ugliest places, bringing a piece of America to the combat zone! I cranked "Bawitdaba" from a radio in my HMMWV on road marches in Korea and all your songs in Germany too. I have seen you play in VA Beach twice since I have been back in the USA and you put on a truly amazing show! The night you and Lynard Skynard played in VA Beach was the best concert of my life - you have so much energy it's amazing. Again, thank you for what you do and keep on rocking! I will be on the lookout for the next VA Beach show!

Yet again, Mr. Ritchie, you amaze me. And you humble me low. Thank you, not only for giving our Veterans the Red Carpet Treatment they deserve on your special night, but for all you have done and continue to do for those that have given us our precious freedom. Thank you for shining your brilliant love light to our Vets and to us to help us to shine our love lights towards them, as well.
