Kid Rock considers himself "probably the biggest fan of the bunch" that performed in honor of the Beastie Boys on Saturday. "That was the soundtrack of my life in seventh grade, the whole 'License to Ill' album," he told Billboard after rehearsing the medley with the Roots and Gym Class Heroes' Travie McCoy. "I compared them to the Led Zeppelin of my day and age; I still stand by that. I think their music's gonna live a long, long time. I think there's a lot of nooks and crannies to be discovered. I still listen to it (and) discover something new and different every time." Rock said a friendship with the Beasties' Mike D made performing in front of the Beasties "probably not as nerve-wracking as it should be. I'm honored."

Sunflower: D posted on the other thread. It will broadcast on HBO on Saturday, May 5th 9 - 11:30pm. It will also be on HBO Signature starting midnight... all night. I might of been in 5th or 6th grade when 'License to Ill' came out... I'd listen to the cassette tape over and over again, wrote down their lyrics so I could remember them. Was so proud of myself that I could 'and still to this day' recite 'Paul Revere', 'Brass Monkey', 'Slow and Low' 'Girls'... well it was the whole tape front to back really..lol. I wore out 2 cassettes listening to them.. had to go to K-mart to get another one..lol. GnR came out almost around the same time as them. My brother spotted 'Welcome to the Jungle' on 120 mins of all shows.. and taped it for me.. this was the year I fell in love with my own brand of music instead of listening to mom and dad's favorites... still I love them oldies. This stuff truly takes me back when days were easy... hanging out at the corner store with the cool kids before and after school.. them kids knew I was always the go to girl for smokes b/c I'd always sneak a pack from my old man's stash..lol Coming into Kid Rock's music and meeting and making friends with ppl from all over... I found myself not alone in of those days gone by... well.. 'We were the youth gone wild'; ) ~thanks for pulling at a heart string Bob Rocks~
