why isn't the tour coming to Las Vegas?
Anyone going to Ty's CD Release show on Tuesday? ....Call ur friends up and go.. have a drink, and enjoy this guy.. he's amazing !!
We just saw him last night along with Sonia Leigh and Uncle Kracker.... and the show was kick-ass !! Loved all three artists.. the night went on forever.. fabulous friends.. GOOD TIMES !! There was a group of 10 - 15 of us just dancing, drinking, and having a Daam good time. "Daam, it's good to be me" never felt so daam good..haha My husband got an Uncle Kracker trucker hat. I entered to win a Ty Stone signed guitar. Lots of great T-shirts avail. I was hoping to see Ty's newest full cd on the table for sale... but he only had the two that I already have. I know... I haven't gone to itunes yet.. and that it is avail there... but I'm old school and I really would like a cd to have.
Wrote a lil review of Ty Stone's performance:
Ty Stone brought out his best last night in Jersey. I had gotten quite a few goosebumps several times thru-out his set... and it wasn't from being cold in there. Truth is.. I had always thought of his voice as being incredible - his talents and ability to write a song, sing, and perform are equal to the likes of the best songwriters out there... adding his own experiences and elements thru-out his songs.
Talk about being Real, Mr. Ty Stone... Real Thang?.. Why Yes, Sir...and that's 'The Truth' !!!
The day was St. Patty's Day, and I had never been out to a bar to celebrate in this tradition... so I was pretty excited. Many friends that I know from long ago to recently met showed up to party it down. We also had brought some of our family with us to share in the celebration. Which they tell me they loved him, and they will go to the next one that comes around.
Ty came out on stage sporting a green Leprechan Top Hat, and revealed long red hair. I personally like that he has grown out his hair from the short-do that he has had for awhile. It's a great look on him -gives him more character. Thru-out his set, he would get the crowd to participate by letting us sing along to a part of a song, or laugh at his jokes. He really got the party off to a great start.
I feel as if he has been fine-tuning his songs, as well as his set. He has created setlist that tells a story... his story. He's breathing more air into his songs, doing all the right pauses at all the right times, letting the audience feel the song's meaning even more now then ever before.
He commanded our attention before he went into a long-explosive run ending on a very controlled vibrato...making us feel how much he misses his home in his opening song 'Bless St. Anthony'. He slows it down mid-set to a very beautiful version of 'You make me smile'... his guitar stays set on tremolo as it accompanies his gentle voice to tell the story of loves sweet embrace. Then, the song builds up to a climax with thru the power of his voice, quite like the climax of a lover's firey desire, and then it slows back down at the end, as to embrace it, once again. He finished his set by taking it back home to the place he grew up 'Down River'... at the end of the song.. he again belts out yet another explosive soulful filled run leaving the crowd wanting more.
Ty also played a classic cover 'Keep your hands to yourself', as well as his song that made his new album title, 'American Style', along with his new single, and video that you can catch now on CMT.COM, 'Anywhere's Better'. I feel the set was genius, covering all his power ballads, and well-written material.
I hope everyone gets a chance to go see Ty do his thing real soon b/c he's REALLY laying it down.. and he's bringing his A game.
Cheers !!

Bex, just a great read, thanks for taking the time to do it.
Great to see Ty doing so well.
Saying some prayers for your Mom, hope everything goes as well as possible and she feels much better after recovery.
Thanks for the follow up
Thanks for the follow up review on Sonia and UK. I've read some interesting articles on Sonia and watched an interview with her - I'm looking forward to her set too.
When we saw KR at the House of Blues - Chicago - It was just Ty as the opener and he played acoustic and just belted out the tunes - he has a great voice. Now that I've been listening to the CD, I'll know more of his music too.
We saw UK at the same venue he's playing on Friday night when Happy Hour came out.
We saw UK open up for Kenny Chesney here in Grand Rapids last year at our arena, then he did a smaller set at the after-show party. It's such a cool, low-key vibe when he plays. I about fell over when he started singing Kenny Rogers!
Can't wait to see them both on the boat too. I hope they do a few songs with KR.
Thanks all...
Thanks all...
@Bart, I believe it was suppose to be Sonia, Ty, Kracker but for some reason Ty came on first.. then Sonia, Kracker. It was just Ty and his guitar. Love hearing the band behind him for 'Line of Blood' and 'Real Thang'.. because they Rock..but he's so good by himself too. It was one of those nights that the songs were flowing so good... the drinks were flowing right along, too haha A good bartender knows what your drinking after a good couple of rounds... this guy knew by the second round.. and the place was packed. Anyway... hope everyone has a great time like we did. Glad to see everybody's got there show date set.
I neglected to say anything about Sonia Leigh and Kracker. Sonia Leigh: Daam Fine Artist.. that I hope to hear more of.. best song: The Bar.. she even has a t-shirt on sale.. she looks a lil like Joan Jett.. she's country.. but she's got a hard rock n roll edge to her.. I know a lotta ppl pass on the openers.. kinda like we did.. we were sitting with all the friends that came at some tables at the back of the bar.. but when that song came on.. I said.. okay that's enough.. can't stand it anymore and had to get up and watch... again.. The Bar is one song you DO NOT wanna pass on.. She plays a mean guitar too.. my kinda girl ; )
Your favorite Uncle: It felt like he covered every song that we ever heard him do. He did some older stuff off Double Wide.. to his current stuff. He covered KR's All Summer Long.. and an AC/DC tune. He did "When the Sun Goes Down".. "Follow Me" "Better Days".. "Drift Away" "Daam, it's good to be me"... it was a huge long set
filled with feel good music.... made for a lot of happy drunks ; )
Chelsea, wish I could come and chill with you guys too.. he works.. I don't work til Friday... but it's about 10 hours drive one way for us.. and the bigger issue is I gotta be here for my mom.. she's going into the hospital for major surgery on Wednesday.. so everybody keep her in your prayers for me, please
Nice review, Beckxy. You rock! Wish you were coming to the show tomorrow night :)
Hurry up and get here Thursday!!!!!!! machine shops gonna kick ass, as always!!! :)
hoping to possibly catch the Cali show here on 4-4..It's a Wednesday night and a bit of a drive, but still keeping the option open.. Would love a little Pre-Cruise tease w/ Kracker and Ty..
Becky - Great review.
I've been listening to Ty's new CD - and I really like it.
I'm planning on going to the Friday show here in Grand Rapids. This is the 4th or 5th time I've seen him play - he does improve his timing with each show.
What was the order? Sonia, Ty, Kracker? Was it just Ty or did he have the backup band too?
Nice review Becky I am really excited about Thursday now. Machine Shop here comes the Woodshop Girls.
Just saw him on Fox 2 News singing "Bob Seger". Great song. Can't wait to see him Thurs. And I'm liking the long hair :)
Can't go Tuesday but like Margo and the rest of the Woodshop Crew, we will be at the Machine Shop Thursday to show our support!
Nice review Beckxy! I'm going to see him this Thursday, can't wait...he really is a good story teller through his music, whether it's seeing him perform live or listening to his CD.
