A Robin Hood pact with promoter Live Nation on ancillary coin might redefine the concert biz

@lefsetz
Where I grew up, there were no rich people. No bankers, no rightwing titans ranting the poor were lazy and the government was taking all their hard-earned money. Some dads worked for the electric company, others sold insurance or held blue-collar jobs.
and as for makeup mirrors....well, that's why I wear sunglasses.
Me, too Lisa. I guess the best we can do is pack Dramamine. My daughter uses compression bracelets that go around her wrist (she gets car sick easily) and she says that they help. I might steal some from her.
Wondering about magnifying make up mirrors. I bought a travel one that only weighs a few pounds...
I am a little concerned about getting seasick...
Thanks Roxy-it'll be one less thing to pack.
They have hairdryers in the rooms!
I did find something that stated the balcony rooms do have hair dryers. I was on the Carnival Destiny website, but it didn't give me all the info on the other types of rooms. I asked yahoo answers too. That was all I could find quickly.
Gum? I have no idea. I'm sure I packed a few packs in advance because I always have gum with me. I would be surprised if they don't sell gum. The store is like the stores in the airport with magazines, carnival cruise stuff, snacks, etc.
I think I will add some 5 hour energy's to my list. It's already in my concert pre-game ritual.
We were CTM and cruise virgins last year too. Any other questions/concerns Lisa?
LOL Colleen.
What about hairdryers? Do they already have them in the cabin? Anyone know?
5 hour energy...lots of it.
I, too, am not only a CTM virgin, but a cruise virgin...Keep the info coming! One of my friends said to bring lots of gum, as they don't sell it on the boat...Hmmm?
OK - this is not a joke.
I didn't know they had nice meals available and I didn't know there was a main dining room?
There was so much to eat on the Lido deck, we didn't venture to find any other dining rooms. There were 2 buffets by the pool with snack-type bar food - fries, chicken tenders, breadsticks, hamburgers, etc. Then they had a deli where you could order any type of sandwich, but with limited hours. There was a chinese food place, with limited hours. Then there was a larger buffet that rotated food for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. It had pastas, shrimp, seafood, fish, ham, turkey, roast beef, veggies, desserts, fruit, frozen yogurt, etc....Available 24 hours the entire trip!
All of this food on the Lido deck - I didn't even need to venture to find any other food! Also you could wear your swimsuit and just find a table or bring your food back to the main Lido deck area where everything was happening.
There is a store onboard to buy anything you need - of course you pay more, but it is available.
I wrote all of this down so I am not searching for it later. I have no idea what to bring either. RSMS are there places in the airport to buy wine for our 2 bottles we can carry onto the boat. Don't want to fly with it and overload the suitcase or much worse have it break.
I think Bart pretty much covered it. I don't remember a formal night either. But, if you want to enjoy a nice meal in the main dining room, you can't (or shouldn't) be dressed in a swim suit. Seems like most do participate in the theme nights -- one for each evening. Fun times!
If you're in a big group and want to stay in touch without racking up your cell phone bills, bring along walkie talkies.
Yes sunscreen is a big must have...my brother went to the Bahamas didn't wear sunscreen ruined the last 1/2 of his trip. I would think chapstick should be on the list too...though I am addicted to chapstick so I would probably bring a multi-pack just in case. lol
thanks everyone
Seems like I posted some info a month or so ago...but I can't find where? Oh well, here's my suggestions:
- Power strip: Probably depends on how many women and what type of cabin. Mrs. Bart was fine with her curling iron and blow dryer. We had a balcony room last year and it came with a long desk w/stool, and a large mirror w/ vanity lights in the main room - so she didn't have to use any space in the bathroom.
- I keep reading about "formal night"....I didn't see anything formal last year - maybe I just missed it. I didn't see many polo shirts or even jeans. Most people were in shorts, bathing suits, charlie sheen-type shirts, flip-flops, funny T-shirts, and all kinds of MID, KR, and Detroit stuff. It was completely casual - not to mention the "theme" night attire! I was in T-shirt/shorts/flip-flops then entire time on the boat.
- Bring plenty of sunscreen - lots of red faces/bodies after a few days on the boat.
- We bought a small ihome speaker system (the size of your hand) that we could plug our ipod into while we were in the hotel/cabin.
- Don't bring towels, there are plenty of them on the boat.
- Hat - You need a hat for the morning after or the last couple of days to keep the sun off of your burnt face.
- Hoodie - It did get a little chilly a couple of nights and there is always a breeze on the boat. Seems like they kept the air cranked up inside the boat too. We stayed outside as much as we could.
- Koozie - I drink beer and they only serve beer in those aluminum bottles, so that might help. However, you can buy buckets of beer that comes with ice - again - it depends if you are in the sun or shade. 4 beers in the sun in ice is still going to get warm - unless you drink fast.
- Credit Card - bring lots of credit limit with you...Things aren't cheap on the boat or at the ports!
That's all I can think of for now.
Still psyched you guys finally made it on. This party is gonna rock! Can't wait to meet new friends and play with old ones. I second BB's scream'n!
Bathing suits and covers...that's about it! Lots of SPF for the boat and island. I think I'll bring my snorkel and flippers just to snorkel off the beach. Someone said a cork screw or be sure your one allowable bottle of wine is screw cap :) Hmmm what else have I heard? Oh, they have a "formal" night but many just stuck with jeans, flip flops and a nice top...I did hear that about the power cords too. I'm going to pack my Kleen Canteen b/c it keeps my stuff hot and cold forever and I expect the temps to be pretty high. We are hitting the eighties today, in S. FL. April should be amazing!
If I see any good stuff posted anywhere, I'll relay the tip. Have a great day!
sorry Shirl
Im Screaming!!!!
I can remember reading someone say to pack a power strip cord because there aren't many outlets in the cabin for like blow dryers, flat\curling irons, cell phones & such, makes sense to me. IDK never been on a cruise...;)
LOL
..."so step up front a little-lady!"
